@tori22:
i've Read up about 4kids ideals on anime quite a lot in the past 5 months or so every once in a while. They think that these massive edits are the only way to get anime into the united states, which is wrong. They're gonna probably do the exact same thing 4kids did. It will basically be the 4kids dub with funimation voice acting, the exact same edits and everything.
And plus funimation wouldn't want to give OP over to toonzai because funimation bought the rights to dub OP because they saw it as a great financial oppurtunity seeing how people were incredibly pissed at 4kids, and so people looked up to funi as if they were gods. For them it would be the worst choice economically to give One Piece back to 4kids because NO ONE WOULD LIKE funimation anymore if they did that, besides some of the people in this thread.
Not necessarily. If it's like "DBZ Kai" they'll just make the necessary edits to give it a TV-Y7 as per the standards of CW. So while we'll still probably get a hammer gun, we wouldn't get a replaced soundtrack, cut-out canon, and lame jokes.
I don't see why they wouldn't want to air it if 4Kids made the offer. Even if it's edited to hell, if it gets good exposure and good ratings for the property everybody wins. I don't see why people would start hating them, except perhaps a certain segment of the fanbase. There'd still be uncut DVDs, there'd still be a simulcast, so everyone would get what they want.
With that said I seriously doubt 4Kids would want to re-air "One Piece" even with the FUNimation dub. It failed for them before, it might be hard for them to want to try it again, although I'm sure they're aware by now why it failed when they dubbed it. But most of all "One Piece" would require a lot of edits to air on Toonzai. Even "TMNT" was censored from it's FOX airing when it went to the CW. 4Kids had stated they screen shows before they license them to make sure they'd fit within the broadcasting standards in place, and I don't think "One Piece" fits.
