What you watched, expected, and got.

Well, there was one in the Anime/Manga forum, but I couldn't find one here, and someone said it would be a good idea.

Basically, for those who haven't been anywhere near the other forum one and have no idea what the hell the purpoe of this thread is, then here's a small list to save writing essays upon essays :ninja: :

The reason I made one here was for MOVIES and obviously other Media things. Anime/Manga ones are in the other Forum,
Here you say what you watched, what you expected, and what you got (e.g. you watched a movie, thought it was gonna be a rom-coom from the title, and it ends up being epically depressing cause the guy went to dine in hell. srsly, P.S. I Love You…)

So, without further ado, I shall start this off :)

What I Watched:

I had a movie marathon this weekend, so here goes :

What I Watched: Shawshank Redemption

What I Expected: Something much more violent. The title made it sound fierce to me.

What I Got: A brilliant and poignant movie that I'll treasure forever. Fantastic acting from Freeman and it was heartbreaking to hear about Andy getting raped; and then getting held inside by the corrupt warden. And the fat guy getting beat up and taunted by the prisoners just for betting, and then dying and them not even knowing his name really hit home.

What I Watched: American Psycho

What I Expected: Something that would creep me the fuck out. I don't watch ''horror' or 'slasher' films, but the only time I got really freaked out was when Christian Bale was running down the hall with the chainsaw breaking into British accented shouting every other line.

What I Got: A great movie that's for the most part, actually more comedic than horror and satire about how all those business yuppies are practically the same. And to be honest,I think the ending was a work of genius.

What I Watched: The Godfather

What I Expected: A fantastic movie

What I Got: 3 HOURS of a fantastic movie. Brando was brilliant; the part where he dies with his grandson in the vineyard was so sad. And Michael's transformation was well done.

What I Watched: Groundhog Day

What I Expected: Some goofy film about a holiday I didn't know of.

What I Got: A fantastic cult classic hit with Bill Murray with scenes that are heartbreaking and just give off magic, like when he dances with Rita in the gazeebo or when he sculpts her head out of ice

Groundhog Day is really a film you need to see a bunch of times over the years. The more familiar you become with the world and the routine, the more you identify with Phil and the charm of the locale and the music. "Day of Polka" will forever instantly bring that movie to mind.

The others are all really good too, you should watch Godfather II next. Its at least as good, and arguably better. Don't bother with III though.

**What I watched: Fish Story

What I expected: The Ring + Backstreet Boys**

What I got: One of the greatest endings to a movie I ever seen. The last few minutes of the film ties everything up really nicely.

I'm gonna make it a routine to watch it every 'Groundhog's Day' now, I guess.

The only thing that put me off watching II was sitting through another 3 hours. Maybe next weekend I'll give it ago cus I've heard a lot of people say it's better.
