So it's finally making a return, and by the hand of the DICE team (battlefield makers)
I don't have a lot of details to add right now, but if anyone does please post them asap. Im a huge fan of this old game and can't wait to see it make a return.

When is this coming out?
Is it going to have content from Episode VII?

None of the videos or press comments give much away. but maybe I've looked in the wrong places.
still I'm wondering just what I'm looking for in this games, and what I always wanted to see improvements on. The arenas and playable characters are pretty much fine in my eyes, though I want to see a few other races take up spaces along side the rebels, droids and storm troopers.
Id like more special units too, and more options for each player aside from two weapons and a few grenades. We should probably have better vehicles, or maybe just the old ones but without the clumsy steering.
Some destructible scenery would be a nice change too.
Realistically the easiest option would be to adopt a lot of it from the animated series. This is obvious when you realise just how many planets and environments are available, not to mention character design itself.
this could include a lot of space battles too.
just thought i put this here
its the E3 teaser announcing the game. its not much but its worth something.
@Galaxy:
1:33-1:38 Me: Oh, crap!
Star Wars is on a roll this weekend!
I have 0 hopes for this game. EA and DICE are trash.

Battlefield left you bitter and pessimistic huh?

I honestly can't see any reason to have any hope left in DICE or EA. Atleast this way if they magically come up with something good I won't be greatly disappointed like usual.
It's alright to feel that way given how BattleField 3 & 4 turned out.
BF4 is actually playable right now. After more than a year though. I hope the same doesn't apply for Battlefront 3
Battlefront's feature list isn't looking good:
40 Player count. A twitter post contradicted this for PC, so it could be either 40 or 64, but console is 40.
No campaign. We do get a list of scripted missions with coop support, which for the most part is the same thing, just not a properly connected story.
Supposedly no dedicated space battles, there are some ground battles with ships, but the de are being evasive on the issue.
Fully customised player loadout for units with item progression, not the class system.
Aggressive DLC (of course, though at least a few are free).
So far they've only mentioned 4 maps + 1 free DLC map. Seems lacking.
Battlefront II was better than this on a basic level, this is more like a battlefield game. Also I cannot expect any modding support with their DLC plans.
Battlefield hardline had a relatively stable launch, so I doubt we have to worry too much, but it is worrying that the release date is fixed as the game has to come out 1 month before the movie.
At the very least, they got loads of vehicles, didn't mess with the hero system and did keep 3rd person view support.

They said 4 planets, surely there will be multiple maps per planet. Having 4 maps would be ridicilous. And yes, this will more than likely be a modern Battlefield game with a star wars paintjob.

Good enough for me, even though maybe not at full price, lol. Cause I am kinda tired of the standard battlefield games. Prefer more fast paced shooters like cod and cs go nowadays, instead of running around big areas, dying and wait seconds to repeat it again in bf games. xD So star wars paint job will at least spice things up a bit.
How much of this is true?
Sounds like a modern EA release, absolute minimum amount of content for release then milk the f*ck out of it with DLC's. EA won't give anything out of generosity and is only motivated by thought of maximum profit.
It that is true damn even Dice hates the prequels.
I find it funny that they paid to send people to the episode IV-VI filming locations to get a better feel of the Star Wars setting, instead of using that money on game features.
AAA budget allocation at it's finest.
EDIT: Actually never mind, that was done so they could do some fancy camera importing tech to make the maps look as close to the filming locations as possible. Still quite inefficient to do all those flights, but hey if they want to spend that much on the graphics department then that's their decision.
There's no chance that planets only refers to actual planets and not other things like moons or the Death Star, is there?
Yavin 4 is a moon, Endor is a moon, despite the name, so yes. Their actual planets are gas giants in the legends EU, but they were still named as moons in the movies. The death star is more or less a space station + space setting so there's little chance of it making it into the base game.
Sigh, I was excited for this also, but now it seems like it will be a barely put together game. Micro-transactions and DLC have been ruining gaming.

Only because people buy them, EA and Activision are only learning the lessons we're teaching them.

I know. I never use micro-transactions. DLC puts me in a bind though. Pay money to play on what is starting to amount to large portions of gameplay or try to convince millions of people to stop supporting it unsuccessfully and miss out on it.

Arkham Knight - I have not pre-ordered and will not be buying it till it is on a steam sale as GOTY edition taken me 3 Batman games to learn the lesson. So now I don't trust WB I'm still happy they never pushed their online store type thing they were doing because then it would have joined EA and Ubisoft as companies I no longer buy or play games from (I don't Yarrrr them there is no point if you're not going to pay for them why play them)

I don't think people opting out of buying Rock Band & Guitar Hero annually or holding meaningless boycotts because of endings they don't like was enough of a lesson for them.

So what, the four planets would be Hoth, Dagobah, Tatooine, and…Cloud City's planet?
Endor is also in there.

How much of this is true?
Right. The four planets shocked me at first. Then I recalled the number of planets in the original trilogy and, yeah, that sounds about right. I like Hoth. And tantoine. If there are two maps of each, and they differ a lot from each other, that's cool. Still a bit of a shame though. With all the games and the other movies and tv-shows I've gotten to see other worlds, and I'd like to play at star wars in those worlds. And different maps, different vehicles that suit the terrain. I still remember that flying thing the Wookies used in Revenge of the Sith.
No prequel trilogy I understand. Great territory for a sequel to explore. Doing the droids is hard, I'll presume. Droidekas and such. The original movies had their battles and such but the Clone Wars had such diverse settings and enemy variations. This and the four maps kind of go hand-in-hand.
Space battles I also understand. It's sort of like the naval battles in Assassins Creed. A very different component.
40 players only and the At At is not playable … that bums me out. I have faith but ... this bums me out.
Who plays battlefield on PS3?
I WANT TO BASH EA!…But...I can't help to feel excited. I don't even ask much but please EA just this once don't let your greed and love for DLC ruin this too much...
*Oh and I never had pleasure to play Battlefront 1 or 2 so my expectations are super low, I even like to play Battlefield when teams are even and everyone works as team...
Here's the first look at the team deathmatch mode, "Blast".
Still not sure that I like the game being in first person… I'm assuming you can switch between the two?
And they totally missed the opportunity for a Lego Star Wars Battlefront last gen.
Well given that Battlefront is owned by EA and the Lego Games are made by a separate entity it's not like the could've made it even if they wanted to which would've been funny due to all the years Battlefront 3 was in the making.
Killing the joke again, huh.
Still a missed opportunity
The Star Wars Battlefront beta will launch sometime in early October.
http://gematsu.com/2015/09/star-wars-battlefront-beta-begins-early-october
Beta is Up and running on PS4 as of last night
No teamwork, spawn killing, imbalanced vehicles, glitches, PRE-ORDER NOW and nothing in game encourages for team play…
Don't look very promising.
Teamwork isn't the issue, pub games will always be that chaotic. There is room for teamwork in a coordinated team, but good luck getting one of those, or any competitive scene for that matter.
Gameplay itself is extremely shallow and has one of the lowest skill ceilings I've seen in any game of a reasonable size.
That and the balance is horrible, not stat wise, but rather the entire system itself. It's supposed to be geared towards casuals, but even on that level it failed.
SWBF2 did everything other than graphics and sound better, and neither of those are possible to get worse so that's no achievement.
Congratulations, DICE/EA for managing to screw up to this degree. Not that anything else was expected from you. Salty that we get this over Free Radical BF3.
I played as rebel in walker assault and we managed to win, so that's ok. The spawn system though. Damn. Much work to do on that part.
Teamworkwise? Yeah, no squads… just follow Vader if he appears.
Battlefront 2 trailer was leaked it was originally supposed to be revealed at Star Wars Celebration it implies a single player campaign
Been playing the beta for a few hours now.
I actually bought the first one a few months ago, the Ultimate Edition - which is on sale all the time. After some five hours, I was done.
This thing is a major improvement, and it's hard to pinpoint why, as it is hard for me to pinpoint the specifics of what was wrong with the first one. Sniper rifles were useless in the first cus any ass with a pistol can kill me from the same distance just as easily. Here I have an advantage. Combat just feels better.
A major problem the first one had is flying, which just felt like it was made for people who have no skill. In this one, it feels damn good. Right stick for steering, left for rotating. You combine the two and you can got crazy maneuvers, flying through cracks and evading rockets.
However …
This game's biggest issue is that it's still trying not to be Battlefield. I love Sinai Desert from Battlefield 1. Lots of open space for vehicles to duke it out, as well as having a small settlement there in the middle for closer-quarter combat. Snipers everywhere (me). A sand storm once in a while. Its chaotic, but the good kind, fitting for every play-style. And that could very well be a Tatooine map. I haven't see what the Tatooine map will be in this one, but I doubt it will be like Sinai. You earn vehicles/heroes by playing well - which isn't a bad thing but, there's never more than one tank on each side.
It's Call of Duty on a larger scale, unfortunately still. I like it, though, for what it is. I will have to look at the review and videos of others maps before I buy it or maybe a sale.
Heroes are easier to kill, which is nice. I don't like earning to play vehicles, but to play as heroes or special units, that I like. Not some random drops like in the first one. Here I actually did objectives I could earn more points to play as a hero.
