So I was finally starting to like Wolverine, after seeing him get decked by Namor, Sentry, and Daredevil, and reading some of his 80s stuff. But then I remembered where he is now.
!
I just found that Sabretooth in the bottom left hilarious.

God…. his character would be 10x better if they didn't try to make him a ninja or whatever. The horrors of the 80's.
I always thought he was a cheapass and won fights he shouldn't have. After recent events, I….forgive him.
So the second WWH wave was even better. GR actually meets Hulk this time and kinda wins me over. Never gave him a chance, and this was pretty interesting. Frontline was also pretty good.
WWH #2 and X-Men #2 were two HUGE kickass fights. Seriously, Hulk vs. everyone. With those two I could have had a complete week.
Was I the only one who enjoyed Juggernaut getting fucked up after like three frames?
Gotta love his last words.
heh Hulk smash puny Juggernaught
I like how everyone's being a giant asshole to Xavier even though they'd be nowhere without him.
Anyway, WWH #2 and the X-Men book were both awesome brawls. Seeing Wolverine get punched in the face thrice in a row like that was awesome. Jugg going down was great, too.
Holy shit Hulk fucked reed up good
and the Iron Fist appearence at the start sparked thoughts of Iron Fist vs. Hulk throwdown (PLEASE GOD!)
and the final spread with Thunderbolt Ross was priceless
Hulk vs Iron Fist or Ronin or Echo would be a waste of a panel.
I haven't read much Hulk, why the hell would Ross think a bunch of tanks can do what the Fantastic Four and most of the world's powerhouses combined couldn't?
I remember in the previews at Newsarama people were hoping that Wolverine could stop the fight. So Wolverine getting beaten retarded was a highlight.
I'm hoping that Thor will be the one to stop the Hulk, since he's just now coming back. I'm kind of sick of having the Sentry's balls rubbed in my face after several months of stalling.
And Thor, if I recall, was pretty much the most powerful Marvel hero back when he was still around. The Sentry's powerful and all, but he isn't a god.
Wolverine has a katana? Ugh.
Eh, I actually wish he did show more skill. As much as they brag about his skill (unarmed, guns, sword), all he ever does is get mad and lunge at people. And that only works for him because he's invincible and somehow popular. I wish they'd meet me halfway and just retcon all that samurai code bullshit outta him.
And kill Echo, and give Hawkeye some goddamn arrows.
Oh, and WWH5 has Sentry teabagging Hulk as a cover.
Really? Ugh.
The really sad thing about Sentry is that his mental instability mixed with his power makes him a potentially interesting and great character, but all he's ever used for is a plot device to beat the shit out of something. He's like Dr. Strange with muscles.
@Cap'n:

Sadly, I agree. I've read the three "core Sentry graphic novels", and really liked him from what I saw in them. The multiple personality making the strongest hero a ticking time bomb that half the heroes seem to fear frankly makes him more interesting than the Last Son of Krypton (least in my eyes). Yet bar being a plot device, he's been used for bugger all. So I'm hoping the Sentry/Hulk fight in #5 actually shows what he's capable of and makes him more than just wasted potential.
Just checked out the new GR. The first half was funny, but it kind of took away from the seriousness of the Hulk situation. The last few pages were great though, especially the last line.

It just feels like a total sell-out, though. Appealing to that American ideal that "Japanese stuff is so cool" and shit.

Well, all the ninja/samurai Wolverine stuff isn't exactly a new thing. Like mentioned earlier, blame it on the 80s (like the "American Ninja" movies and stuff like that) and on Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.
Was never into Wolverine. At all. Only knew he had traveled to Japan in the past and did a few things, but it's even worse if he's like this.
The US had a crush on Japan and Wolverine was a breakout character. It was like free money for Marvel.
To their credit though, besides that so-so limited series, they didn't put it in your face. The Madripoor stuff was pretty cool and independent. But maybe it was, and the guy is just growing on me.
I just remember reading a lot of old comics that would mention Wolverine's "samurai soul" and stuff like that.
I always thought it was funny how most Japanese Marvel characters were all relatives though. Sunfire is even somehow related to Silver Samurai or something like that.
Daredevil also has a bunch of terrible ninja stuff.
Blame Frank Miller I guess.
Yeah, too bad Wolverine is nothing at all like a samurai.
He's as much a samurai as Kurt Russell.
Miller is terribly overrated. I actually talked to some comic geezer about this today. Past the ninja craze, that Daredevil/Hand stuff nows looks and reads very awkwardly. The character works very well as being ninja like though.
Sorry if this was posted already, but-
I want a fucking trailer already =_=
"Anthony Stark I wouldst have words with thee!"
SHIT HIT TEH FAN
roflcopters
Tony is apparently chained up in one of Hulk's prison's, so I think that's a robot.
But I'm really looking foward to Initiative, Runaways and Annihilation Starlord. Spiderman dissapoints again, Wolverine was bland, and WWH issue 5 looks like Sentry fucks up the Hulk.. which makes no sense as far as I'm concerned but w/e.
Not sure if this has been posted anywhere, but I thought this was pretty funny:
The Doom Comic (yeah, it's a real comic).
Hahaha
I only got two comics, Hulk 108 and ASM 542. One was good and one wasn't, but not the one you think…
Could I possibly be the only one in the world who enjoys All Star Batman? I find it terribly funny, intended or not, and the artworks pretty good. The 'GD' word now gets thrown around so much that it ain't funny anymore, but hey, I won't argue with a series that contains the line "Eat glass, lawman!"

You're not the only one.
I love it.

I have read the first issue of the Joker Origin presented in Batman Confidential. I thought it was okay, specifically Batman's feelings on how Gotham is doing now that he is around, as well as his relationship with Gordon. The Joker, or Jack, is no longer the failed comedian showed in Killing Joke but rather as a master bank robber who is just bored. When contemplating to himself in a bar he talks to a blonde haired waitress who is getting her psychiatric degree and decides to go on a robbery that will bring Batman to him.
Now this is trying to bring in aspects of Batman 89's Joker. Rather then the whole "One Bad Day" origin it is shown that Joker has always been evil. Now the second issue is due this week so prehaps we shall see Killing Joke aspects pop in (Jokers Wife in particular seeing how her murder is witnessed by Riddler in Hush Returns, as well as the Red Hood story as that has been in Joker's origin since the 50's) I hope so, as that and the Man Who Laughs are my favorite Joker stories.
Above is the cover of the third issue. It is by far the most awful art I have ever witnessed on a Comic Book Cover.
Wow, what a shitty cover.
Hahaha, at first I didn't think it would be that bad, but it was.
Oh, and I bought a lot of back-issues at a big yardsale a few days ago.
just starting reading some new Marvel comics
Marvel Adventures Starring the Avengers:Mischief, a comic called Sentinel(Marvel)Parts 3 and 5,also a DC comic called Infinite Crisis Companion .
I liked that Batman Confidential's Joker origin worked in Harley Quinn (the blonde chic he met in the bar) and so far it's been ok. I still consider Killing Joke the real origin, though it's been stated that the Joker's origin will never be nailed down to just one.
All Star Batman is finally being read as it should, merely for entertainment. I mean, the whoooooole point of the book is to poke fun at how dark comics got (especially Batman) after DKR. Miller is basically mocking the very style that he got started. I think those first few issues came out, and pacing issues aside people took it waaaaaay too seriously. If you read it just for fun, it's really entertaining.
The biggest issue with the book is that the issues come out so far apart (I love Lee's art, but dammit he needs to finish the damn pages!) Once this series comes out in a trade, it'll be one helluva read.
Wow I am surprised no one has mentioned this, well I think it happened sunday or saturday but Mike Wieringo passed away. He was 44 years old and he had a heart attack. If you are not familiar with his work he was recently drawing Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman and he co created the character Impulse. This was really shocking and I have to say he is an artist that will be missed. I loved his Spiderman.
I'll remember him most for his work on Fantastic Four.
I finally found a comic book shop nearby (if you call eight miles nearby) that had a copy of Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On Serious Earth! :D Now I won't have to borrow my friend's copy anymore!
Did I mention Serious House on Serious Earth is my favorite Batman story?

sorry for the double post I just didn't read this at first. See the thing is Miller isn't mocking anything at this point he is just incapable of writing anything that doesn't come across like this. Is Allstar Batman and Robin a joke? With lines like "I'm the GOD DAMN BATMAN" and "Eat Glass Copper" (I cringed so bad when I saw that in my comic store) how could it not be a joke. Was it intended to be a joke? I really don't think so and I really think Miller thinks what he is writing is probably the best GOD DAMN Batman story yet and that's the sad part….no the really sad part is I would love to buy something with pretty Jim Lee art and Batman but the fact is the story is just soo god awful and everyone is so fucking out of character I just can't stomach it. Aaaarrrrgghhh I can't stand Frank Miller these days and to be honest I still like his older work but everything after the first couple of Sin City books has been garbage and to be honest I am not a big fan of his art style these days either. Sorry for the rant, this is just what happens when I hear someone mention his name.

I've liked his art since he drew Robin.

I could've sworn he said somewhere that he does write it as a joke. I agree about his writing, Miller can't seem to write anything but hard boiled Sin City-esque stuff, and his art is so styalized that it has to be done impecably to look good (like in 300 or Sin City) otherwise it looks like crap (like his ASB covers -_-) I'm actually worried about him working on the Spirit movie, I love alot of his work and admire him for what he's done but dammit I have a feeling he's going to ruin one of the best characters ever.
Anyway, back to All Star Batman, it's a joke either way (intentional or not)
Just wanted to let u guys know that the Dr. Strange animated movie is out on DVD, it also has a preview of Avengers Reborn….something to do with the Avengers as teenagers or something IIRC...hope it isn't....
I used to be interested but Im just got into manga and those are better but Green lantern and x men is the only comic i would read.
I'm kind of the opposite. My interest in manga has mostly faded, I didn't even download the Usopp vs Perona fight a few weeks ago. I'm big on Huston, Brubaker, and Bendis' Marvel stuff.

Ugh, that looked gross.
God, 'ringo's death is a real shame. He had such an awesome talent and the sudden, unexpected nature of his death just makes it all the more sadder.

(never read the comics,but still)

I know nothing about comic books, but didn't they have a funeral and everything for this guy?
Other than some back-issues and Batman, I haven't been following any other comics lately.
Anyone have recommendations? I'm kind of looking for superhero stuff, but I'm not a big fan of the dialogue in most current superhero books.

I would of been more surprised if it didn't happen.
! Skrulls were involved probably.
