Let's look at this from the positive side. The fact that a book that is 90% Dick Grayson buttshots is outselling the Colbert-promoted Captain America book means there are currently more women reading comics than there are people reading Remender comics.
Western Comics thread

Hey now those buttshots are for male power fantasies and don't in any way, shape or form appeal or where meant to appeal to women at all :ninja:
-
I don't even know how well the titles i read are selling. It seems info that i don't really need nor care about. Also, a man can also appreciate fine ass (Ngggh Marko) so it sounds kinda demeaning saying that it's women bait or are women reading it. I get enough of not being counted when i go the comics store in a pink t-shirt (yes, it happened).
edit: Here's some info on the Briand Wood Controversy i mentioned if anyone's interested:

Avengers cover update of today is out and I got the two revelead right :P, well one was pretty obvious.
!
-
! Which Nova is this?
-
! Which Nova is this?
! The current one, Sam Alexander, he is a 14y old kid just like Myles, so if we get Khamala, him and Myles we will have atleast 3 teens in the team.
Btw Kaiolino it seems that Remender is doing the Noman story in the Hail Hydra battle world, so he probably isn't writing the new avengers book.
-
! Interesting, that Vision is going to be in this.
-
Cover fully updated, I guess I got everyone rigth, I was expecting Ironman to be a diferent version because of the all new, all diferent thing , it migth still bea diferent one, maybe the Ultimate one or something because the current one is the Superior Ironman and is inverted since Axis.

The Inhuman "franchise" eats up another Fox character: http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/johnny-storm-returns-on-fully-revealed-uncanny-inhumans-cover
-
So does this officialize all the rumors that when the Ultimate Universe dies finally (for the 8th time) the one marketable character will be dragged on over?
He'll lose a little something without his supporting cast though. It'll be Nate Grey: X-Man all over again with the stranger in a new world dealing with old continuity bit.
-
Surely, Marvel isn't stupid enough to not realise how important the supporting cast has been to developing Miles' world? I also think Miles won't be the only Ultimate character to cross over to the regular Marvel Universe.
They should've used that universe's Gwen Stacey as the new Spider-Gwen now that I think about it. She actually has a personality, a history and potential Carnage powers/split personality.

Are we sure that's Johnny Storm? I mean, we've got three human torches at the moment, including Toro, who's just joined the Inhumans at the end of the New Invaders series as he's a NuHuman.
-
Well, the Slate article that had the reveal referred to him as Johnny Storm and Marvel just tweeted "The Human Torch with the Uncanny Inhumans? Find out more on Free Comic Book Day." And Bleeding Cool already gossiped a long time ago that the FF would be divvied up among other properties once their book would be cancelled (a book that was still selling better than th Inhumans book).

Toro is a chemical weapon now, hes purple and his powers are chemical manipulation not just fire, thats the one I got wrong XD when the silhouettes came out just like the Avengers one I got everyone rigth besides Human Torch for obvious reasons, I though it was Toro.

Makes sense since the FF are ending, specially since Johnny is the one that has been in less teams and got less attention latelly, all the other 3 are Avengers currently, Ben and Sue normal ones and Reed on the Iluminati, the Avengers and Iluminati as they are will probably end but Johnny was the one needing more attention.
Also the Inhumans New Atilan is in NY so its close enough for Johnny and other NY heroes to help/join them, Spiderman is on an ongoing event with them for example.
I would like to see Reed and Sue with the Xmen, mostly because I like Reed interactions with Beast and their kidsa re mutants, they could bring the future foundation kids there and make them students along with the mutant kids or maybe just make a Future Foundation series now, send Ben to be an Avenger or something and let those two have "adventures" with the kids.

Something on that controversial batgirl cover. Worth a read.

So apparently in this week Emeral City Convention(I believe thats the name), they said Secret Wars should be ending around September or in September, previowsly they said fall so I guess we know have a more precise date, they said a lot of stuff, like this isn't a reboot, etc but for Fantastic Four plans apparently they confirmed there will be a Fantastic Four book post Secret Wars, with Johnny being with the Inhumans and Fantastic Four supposedly having ended I'm guessing with will be a new team, imo keep Reed and Sue and add two more, maybe mix the Ultimate ones with the 616 ones, Reed, Sue, Machine Man and then because the other two are Tony and Thing get someone else in there, maybe Ant Man since hes part of the second FF team in 616, give Ben to another team like Johnny is with the Inhumans.
Random speculation but yeah I'm expecting a diferent team.

anyone reading the new Uncanny avengers books???
! So is high evolutionary there father????
! and does anyone else think Luminos is really cheap, I mean faster than quicksilver speed and chaos/reality warping magic with better control than wanda!! (granted wanda doesn't have much)
! and why is the high evolutionary so interested in these two power sets, besides them being awesomeā¦... maybe there just being made from the genetic code of someone (or something) that has those powers
! GAAAHH!!!! brain ratled, they better pull this off well though since they're ruining decades of scarlet witch and quicksilver back story to do it -

Apparently of he created Luminous and she is their sister he is probably their father, meh its freaking lame specially for me since I'm a mutant lover but from a storyline perspective I still find it lame and forced, they had to be changed from humans rigth when they are going to be used in the Avengers movie, its so shitty how the movie world now rules the comicsā¦
! Yup she is pretty damn cheap imo aswell.
! No idea, I'll keep reading and see where this all is going but I'm not enjoying it that much. -
Just so everyone's aware, you can get a free month of Marvel Unlimited (an app that gives you access to a massive amount of Marvel Comics, which recently expanded to include Star Wars comics) if you use the promo code "STARWARS" when checking out. It doesn't last long (I believe it's until May 5th), though.
On a related note, does anybody have recommendations for the Black Panther, the X-Men, or the Fantastic Four? Whether it's a series of issues or the work of a particular author doesn't matter; I'd just like to find out more about them.
-
Iceman is gay. Finally.
ā- Update From New Post Merge ---
X-Men: Chris Claremont (16 years of work over multiple titles so have fun with that), Grant Morrison, Joss Whedon
Fantastic Four: Lee/Kirby, Byrne, Waid, Hickman
Black Panther: Priest -
Well Iceman needs to meet Ultimate Colossus then, I guess.
-
Oh so that Family Guy cutaway was true.
-
Also, Kitty Pryde and Star Lord are apparently a thing. What is it with her and Petes?
Peter (Piotr) Rasputin (Colossus)
Pete Wisdom (energy knife guy from Excalibur, no codename)
Peter Parker (Spiderman⦠well, Ultimate Spiderman)
Peter Quill (Star Lord)Let's hope she never meets Paste-Pot Pete....

Lol yeah she is also super overpowered now, with the cosmic enhancement she can now shift through the multiverse apparently but they seem to be breaking them up pretty quick since they are sending 616 Starlord to "clash" with Age of Apocalyspe Kitty in a side story and we haven't seen anything from Kitty for Secret Wars.
They have been a thing for months now but the arc ended this week and he asked to marry her, I guess thats why people are noticing it more.

That's not new, there's been hints throughout the years that if she wanted to, she could move through the walls separating dimensions as she does walls separating rooms. The first hint of that is her alternate version Cat says that in the mini-series Magic when she intended to phase the young Illyana out of Limbo and to Earth, sadly Belasco interfered there.
Next was with the Lighthouse that housed the original Excalibur that included Kitty. There are several times she's walking around in the Lighthouse and she suddenly encounters alternate forms of Excalibur. Turns out the lighthouse was something like a hub or meeting point, the walls between dimensions was a bit weaker there so Kitty was literally walking into other dimensions for a few seconds. -
Well she got cosmically enhanced, so if it isn't new its stronger now, you know what I mean if you read the Black Vortex, Gamora and Angel(past one) also kept their cosmic powers.
In A force there is a new character called Singularity that looks like Kitty new force, I'm guessing thats Kitty since I can't see her nowhere else(her 616 self).
From the wikia
Black Vortex Empowerment: After exposure to the power of the Black Vortex, Kitty's cosmic potential was unleashed, vastly improving on all of her previous abilities, now being able to phase through different planes of existence and ascend to a cosmic plane.
Warning big images
!
!
I'm expecting her to be downgraded eventually because she is super overpowered rigth now, she certainly can't just be an xmen anymore with this powerset she would trivialize most villains(she stayed with Peter in Spartax).
-
About Kitty and the name Peter- lol I was just reading some info online and seems she once had a hamster as a kid, and you guessed it its name was Peter.
Seems she's been a sucker for Petes for a long timeOn different note⦠I don't understand how Kitty & Bobby broke up, I've read its something about him not trusting her? And that's why she left the school, they didn't trust her. Why ?
-
Cosmic Kitty, president Quill and their engagement all seem like things they're just throwing out there before Secret Wars reboots things.
Kitty broke up with Iceman because he's gay. But also because she wanted to protect the time-displaced X-Men and he wanted to send them back in time.
(And before that he was possessed by a death seed (some apocalypse lore stuff) and tried to kill her. That was actually a great story, but nobody read it, and no writer ever referenced it again)
-
But she seems to be in A Force atleast, the Singularity woman looks like her cosmic self and they are saying A Force is sticking around after Secret Wars.
-
They said at the C2E2 panel today that Singularity is a new character.
-
Speaking of Marvel comics and galactic eventsā¦.
I've a question on two things... whats up with Kree making Earth a prison world (Maximum Security?) and what's up with 'Galactic Council' declared Earth off limits to extraterrestrial interaction? -
They said at the C2E2 panel today that Singularity is a new character.
They said a new character called Singularity was coming but C2E2 didnt bring anything new we knew about Singularity already, someone asked this week to Brevoort if it was Kitty since it looks like her and she is nowhere else and he said wait and see, doesn't mean its her but it migth be, or did someone ask them if its Kitty and they said it wasn't?

I don't know if this is the right thread to post this.
Rim City Cover (under spoiler tag)
!
! Rim CityBasically, this is a crowfunding project for a sci-fi comics miniseries, Rim City, in English and Italian. The authors are Alessandro Apreda and Daniele Orlandini. In my opinion it's an interesting project with top-notch artwork that deserve to be published. (No, I'm not personally involved in the project, I simply like it).
There are 5 days left to reach the goal.Their video interview (in Italian with English subs)

Secret Wars #1
! the 616 and Ultimate universes are gone. Only survivors so far from the 616 are Reed, Black Panther, Spider Man, female Thor, Carol Danvers, Peter quill and Phoenix Cyclops
Good read.

Sooooooo what was the point of the stopping the Apocalyspe Twins from putting all mutants aboard an ark and relocating them to another planetā¦......along with undoing that whole bit of them destroying the earth?
-

The point was to show that mutants can't govern themselves and will always resort to in-fighting and thus need regular humans to do it for them (yes this was actually said in interviews at the time)
Though now the X-Men get to have the Inhumans' shtick they had for 50 years and made them so unbelievaly popular!!!
-
Well, thats a stupid idea that'll be undone as fast as possible once the next set of creatives is in charge. I cant see that working for anyone.
Are they at least undoing One More Day?
-

Nothing suspect about that implication at allā¦.nope.

Marvel's publishing hivemind only hires creatives who are in tune with the editorial staff who are in tune with whatever Quesada wants who wants everything to be in tune with the movies and cartoons. So this change will be undone if the Inhumans gigantically flop or Marvel strikes a deal with Fox. Or when Marvel finally accepts that movie audiences don't buy comic books (the most unlikely thing to happen of all).
Same with OMD. That's not ever going to be undone unless Marvel's entire editorial management stops being dependant on what the MCU is or isn't doing. Especially now that they want to make a series of high school Peter Parker movies.
-
I have an hard time believe that, so Mutants are going to become Inhumans and Inhumans will become mutants? Mutants are the ones living in another planet and we already got mutants being hit by the terrigenis mist and they didn't die so it doesn't make sense anyway, bleeding cool is usually right with their spoilery stuff but I have an hard time believing this because it would be a BS retcon.
Still thats the perfect way to stop using mutants, congrats Disney if thats true.
Plus like people said they just got a freaking arc of trying to stop villains from doing this but now lets force them out.
Marvel is seriously pushing this shit, in the comics rigth now people are super scared when they see an Inhuman just like the mutants, we have Medusa doing Professor X going around trying to bring all the Inhumans together and help them deal with their transformation/powers, they used the freaking Xmen catchphrase, Blackbolt just sent his kid in a journey through time because to try and save him of Secret Wars I'm sure Ahura will come back old and changed(Cable), they made an Inhuman Magneto in Agents of Shield.
Way to many similarities and while I like Soule writing and I'm enjoying the characters he has created but sometimes its frustrating, I actually tweeted him asking why they used the Xmen catchphrase in his book and he said it wasn't his call, so this is basicly Disney telling Xmen fans "we are trolling you, fuck your whining!".
Secret Wars #1
! the 616 and Ultimate universes are gone. Only survivors so far from the 616 are Reed, Black Panther, Spider Man, female Thor, Carol Danvers, Peter quill and Phoenix Cyclops
Good read.
! The Cabal is also alive they also had their raft, so Cabal and Miles that entered their raft are alive aswell we see them in the cover of Secret Wars 3, it looked like Cyclops destroyed theirs but according to that cover nope.
-
I got hyped and read a bunch of Marvel history. And the 2 issues of secret wars. Consider me interested. But I'm kind of bummed out of all this "the world ended and we had no chance" crap in the surrounding comics, some seemed good, but it's time to bounce back.
There's going to be a runaway series, but only Molly will be back. Nico is part of the A-Team.
-
Read axis.. The feels goddamnit the feels.
! Carnage you don't get to make me cry. Damnit he survives. Never mind..
! While Doom's turn was more hilarious than anything, Magneto being so close to the "axis" that it mostly didn't matter his inversion, Sabertooth and Loki's turns as good people were kind of touching.
! On the other hand "you won't like hulk when it's sad" it's⦠so corny that's awesome. -
This week's batch:
! A-Team: didn't like America Chavez, as a venezuelan that's a name that I need very strong suspention of disbelive to get behind. Didn't like Nico getting her superheroine name, it was a joke wasn't it? Felt weird the interaction of doom with the barons, not just She Hulk, every baron seemed⦠off.
! Planet Hulk: Intrigued, specialy if Steve actualy can hulk out, but I doubt it, I guess that he comes from where Arcade is the baron? So Red Hulk is the baron of the green pole. This whole westerosi vibe of the regions has me interested.
! Spiderverse: cool, endeared quickly to the spiders, except to Corazon her and the brit were the blandest, specialy loving that it seems that they are being groomed into the sinister six. I keep imagining brittain spidey as Reyn's voice, what a bunch of jokers. Who is the last one in the cover? the one with the googles.
! Battleworld: Meh on the first one, a chuckle on the second one.
! Ultimate End: What is this? this was a mess, is that the original world (as the cover would indicate) or the new world (as the thors and doom in power would indicate) I'ts obviously the latter, but I don't understand the whole battleworld setting, with Osbourne saying "good bless america" I think that some semblance of countries survived the end of the world, but.. in the map there's no room for them. In the other hand the idea of this world being the new marvel world, and forget about the rest I find it interesting, as they never used it properly anyways, but it seems like the world rules weren't set right.
! Master of Kung fu: Is that the mandarin? Currently slow and.. remotely intriguing, but not by much.
! Loki: Another weird mess. It's awkward the way that american comics are spread around, as this ties back to last week's thor's reveal, the Thor Odinson's death, and the end of the world of last week. So many things happening at the same time. When it's superfluous it would be ok, but in complicated circumstances I would find it a turn-off, specialy if handled by different authors. Also Odin and Freya with fireguns? Was a miss for me.
! A World: Didn't this get revealed already? Couldn't namor at least offer Farm Richard to escape to main earth? Don't we know everything that happened here, except the destruction of... fantastic farmworld?
! Deadpool secret secret war: highlight of the week, fun and entretaining, I read the start of the original secret wars last week for the first time, it was fun seeing this weird style of old character models drawn modernly. The humor was a little off (except Deadpool and Wolverine bonding over their willingness to kill, and the "nice balloons you got there"). The weird second part I liked a little better, as it was funnier. -
cool, endeared quickly to the spiders, except to Corazon her and the brit were the blandest,
He has an excuse at leastā¦...he's british.

I found out another thing that bothers me about marvel comics.
It's just a mess to have to follow the same characters in like 5 books that I won't know how they connect untill later.
Also, it irkes me so much that at least half of the comics have no action lines or movement implied or something, so some comics were full of intense poses but no indication of movement, it felt so unnatural.
-

yeah that's changed from the 70s/80s when I read them. And I agree I don't like it. Used to be "So what if so-n-so is popular? He belongs in this title comics, if you want him in this other comic, its as guest star only! you can't have him as it gets too confusing for continuity"
When all-mighty dollar started to get louder they threw continuity out and said "hey! he's popular lets have him in 2 no 3 no 4! other titles!"They don't do movement lines anymore? Not even some blurring? They used to do a blur line so show when Quicksilver was running or someone was flying to indicate where they once was and moved from. Sounds boring now
