I read that Morrison is the one DC has in charge of writing the last part of the Infinite Trilogy
Western Comics thread

New to American Comics sadly, but I just started reading a few. (Thanks Freeman-12)
Im really enjoying this Knightfall arc.(The scarface part was pretty cool.) But I was wondering, do most comics change artstyles like that still?? The Batman stories look pretty good. (I also read a one-shot I think it was called " The man who laughs") Anyone know one that had to do with Zombies? I remember skimming through it a few years back.
I might start on Dead Pool and Cable as well.
Do I need to read anything before Civil War as well??
Thanks.
-
Actually the first comic series I ever read was Civil War, and I only knew it's permise and such, with general mainstream knowledge on the characters.
I suggest you read it first before any other series…or wait MAYBE read House of M first, followed by Decimation (these 2 are optional but greatly affect the X-Series) before CW.
Personally, I suggest you read Civil War, only then will you know just how badass DeadPool is, furthermore it may actually get you interested in reading the series for other characters, like Sentry and such.
As for artists; very few comic series use the artstyle of one person, comics change their artists ocassionaly. If anything, try not to get impressed TOO much by Rob Liefield's art :P
-
Just read a few Cable and DeadPool. Can't say I like where the story is headed and the art is w.e
Cable is an ok character but am mostly in it for DeadPool.
Should I continue on this??
-
It's sorta related to this thread, but a Planet Hulk DTV is schedules for 2010. Gonna be a long wait for that one. Hope that do WW Hulk after that.
-
@DougyDougyGiro!*:

Yes indeed, C&D starts OK, goes down a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit there in the middle, but gets epic near the end.
-
Cable and Deadpool was great when Zircher was on. After that, the artists were just okay and the coloring was terrible. Strong start, though. And I found myself liking Cable much more than Deadpool.
-
^That is so sick…it's badass, damnit now you make we want to read Catwoman and I ain't much of a fan of her character or series >_<. ...unless there's freaky shit like that in the recent series...
Anyway read DeadPool 50 today and it rocked-
Irene: "Dinosaurs. In Manhattan. I sent DeadPool to the Savage Lands and there are dinosaurs in Manhattan. Please tell me it's just a coincidence."
DeadPool: "HEY, IRENE! IRENE MERRYWEATHER! Irene Merryweather, former reporter and chief of staff of my former best bud, Cable (who died and left me with a solo team-up book, then came back to life in a big successful crossover that I wasn't invited to participate in) who's now working to maintain democracy in Rumekistan, Cable's Eastern European nation-building experiment!" -
I red Howard the Duck #4 today. And, well…
NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART
!
-
^Whack, yeah I know :D, but I hope that doesn't stay as his permanent look.
-
Ever since Catwoman got that outfit she's become a great and interesting character. Her comic is generally more up then down.
-
I recently found a copy of Vaughn Bode's Junkwaffel at my local comic shop! Vaughn Bode is one of the underground comics legends. His works are hard to find nowadays.
Anyone else here like Vaughn Bode?
-
Huh, never heard the name.
This week was all about Iron Man and Herc for me.
-
Here's a Wikipedia link about Vaughn Bode:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaughn_Bode
He was one of the great cartoonists of our times.
-
^Might give his works a read.
As for Catwoman..I'll think about it -
Hopefully I'll be able to go to the comic store tomorrow and pick up some back issues.
I haven't been reading anything new though (besides Batman).
-
Black Mask kicks ass.
-
I liked Black Mask a long time ago. His origin story was pretty neat from what I remember.
I haven't read many comics with him now that he has a skull head though.
-
Too Much Coffee Man is one of my favorite comics. Are any of you familiar with it?
-
I used to hear about it all the time in the 90s. But that's the extent of my knowledge about it.
-

Funny at another forum when I asked about her current series, I'm told the first issues that Ed B. worked on are the best, but the rest are meh. Either way I'm just going to read the Ed B. run and forget about the rest.
-
His Daredevil has gone stale but otherwise, Ed is a fantastic writer.
-
I can see that. Almost done with reading his Catwoman run and it was very good read.
-
Damn the new Thor series is made of WIN AND GOLD
!
-
I bought Thor #6 and I kinda want my money back. Even the Art Adams variant cover couldn't make me smile.
-
Damn Taleran, that IS awesome! I'll definitely check out the new Thor series.
One series I've been following lately is The Walking Dead. It's very interesting! Do any of you guys like it?
-

yeah I'm waiting for the Trades to buy this one because of how slow the plot moves in the individual issues
-
lol, tan hahaha!
Yeah I kinda started the new Thor Vol. 3 myself recently, but decided to not read them til summer (Late July for a comic catch-up month).
…and finally Raph does it in TMNT Vol. 3-! He dawn's the Shredder armor
-

No, I mean I was thoroughly unimpressed. But then, I haven't been enjoying any book too much this week. Not even Cap blew me away. Well, I still have Criminal and the Thunderbolts one shot to read.
-
If you need something to blow you off, Buccaneer, take a look at Millar/RomitaJr 's "Kick-Ass". Really, the title says it all.
-
Yeah, I read that last night, and honestly, it was one of the better books from this week, even if it was a bit self absorbed.

Hey Buc, ever gave Bone a try?
-
Apparently there's an Earthworm Jim comic. I don't care how shitty it is, I'll still give it a read.
-
@AWB:

No, but I have been wondering about Smith after seeing pics from this "RASL" business. Maybe. Is it similar to the stuff Jeff Parker does?
-

It's a great read but it's based more on the cartoon than the video games. Though that doesn't mean a few vg only characters won't pop up.
@Buccaneer:No, but I have been wondering about Smith after seeing pics from this "RASL" business. Maybe. Is it similar to the stuff Jeff Parker does?
Who's Jeff Parker?
-
I just read through Messiah Complex
damn didn't expect something that good from the Xbooks
-
Yeah, MC was pretty awesome. Too bad not much came out of it.
@AWB:
Who's Jeff Parker?
Writer of X-Men First Class.
-
I like the Legacy book dealing with Charles after it and the person who shows up at the end was awesome
-
Writer of X-Men First Class.
Don't know if the two write similarly. But I still think you should give Bone a try.
-
So I'm reading Salvation Run, and I am trying to figure out one thing: Why is Catwoman there?
-
They think she is still a baddish girl. So they were like "Well… we don't know where she stands, but she was bad at one point! Off she goes!"
-
The latest issue of Wizard had both Interviews about Final Crisis and Blackest Night, I managed to grab the pages from /co/
Blackest Night
!
Final Crisis
!
some interesting info contained within
-
Of all the stuff I read in Marvel comics, non have made shit a brick like this did-
-
Skrulls are Skrulls, and Skrulls are stupid. But I am looking forward to this story.
-
Just read Wolverine: enemy of the state or something. It was alright the way wolverine looked sometimes was..slender or something I dunno. Is Wolverine origins any good? Or any other Wolverine comics for that matter?
Anyone know any sites that still have Civil War to download till I buy it?
-
The two trades for Enemy of the State, and Wolverine: Civil War were pretty cool. Hop on this latest arc if you can. And avoid Origins like the plague.
-
^Origins is THAT bad huh? I fear for Way's involvement in the future DP comics >_<
-
Skrulls are Skrulls, and Skrulls are stupid. But I am looking forward to this story.
It has Nick Fury and Jim Hammond coming back
so yeah so am i
