Sorry if this has already been thought of (it kind of has) This is a really ify idea. If you create a thread for things people want to say to Oda BUT! Have a time limit on it and once the time limit is up (EX: a month) you have someone who can translate, translate the good things people have to say in the thread and send it to Oda in a letter. I don't know how well i've explained this but let me know what you think.
Letter to Oda
-
-
I'm sure Oda gets lots of fanmail from his home country alone. I'd expect if he does reply to the volumnous stacks of paper, you'll hear from him in thirty years.
-
Oda gets thousands of letters a week.
He doesn't respond to them all.
-
Bobby don't crush his dreams.
-
And if you're Greg, he'll completely blacklist you.

Man, that brings me back. Good times on AP!

Wait. What happened to Greg? XD (i'm so glad i know who that is)
Also those are excellent points. I was thinking of more of a "If you could say something to Oda…" kind of thing though. I wasn't expecting him to reply. But yeah Bobby! Don't crush my fragile dreams. Lmao i'm jk, sorry XD
Also is there a thread about funny posts people have made on the forums? Cause if not i think it would be super funny.

I didn't think you were expecting a reply. I just saw the opportunity to put a Simpsons joke among the pigoens and ran with it. :ninja:
! FYI, the Episode where Marge has to paint Mr. Burns and Ringo Starr took thirty years to reply to her fan art.

Oh! Lol. Sorry. I did not catch that. I don't watch the simpsons that much.

Big, crazy-awesome publicity stunt if Oda were to respond to a bunch of American fan mail.
It'd be worth a shot: Arlong Park could hold an SBS question submission contest, choose its top ten/top X questions to translate and mail to Oda, explain to him how those questions came about, and then see some magic happen!
-
You know if this does actually happen, people are going to have to actually read the SBS, and just common knowledge of Oda, in case the question has already been asked
Also I feel the weirdest sense of deja vu
-
You might not get a reply but you have a small chance he will talk about it in a future sbs.
-
Apparently my first reply to this thread wasn't snarky enough.
Its been suggested before. On this forum.
Its been done before, and Oda commented on it, by readers in France, I think.
American Jump did it on a very limited basis. (Four or five very basic questions)
A couple of people who visit this forum HAVE gotten their art into art corner, CCC with the crazy model statue things… and I think someone else did in the most recent one.
But that's just a handful out of thousands. You can get together a whole pile of stuff if you want, and try to get someone to translate it all and mail it off if you want, but odds are Oda won't see them or read them.
Even less likely is the chance of getting any sort of response.
And he's certainly not going to give away any prominent story questions that no doubt the Japanese fans are ALSO asking, he's more likely to respond to a poop joke.
Its nice to have dreams and ideas, but this is one thats been talked about and tried before, with limited success. Greg who does the whole "living in Japan, fluent in Japanese thing" regularly tries to get Oda to notice a piece of mail/fanart for years without results. Not impossible, but not likely.

I remember sending a fan letter to Oda a few years back, a nice and long-handwritten one with a few drawings in it. I have no idea if he ever read it, but it was something fun to do in my spare time.
-
If you write a letter to Oda, be sure not to mention Greg, otherwise he will blacklist you.:)

Oh, how I remember that one! They almost worked their heads off, coloured literally hundreds of manga-pages to draw attention, then added a shitload of fanart to get his sympathy. On top of that the little package contained a heartfelt letter, that described how they loved Oda and his art, how hard it was to translate everything from french and send it to Japan. But that it was all worth it, if he could answer just a couple of questions from the french community. Of course Oda couldn't decline after he saw how much work went into this. He agreed to answer one question from the list.
All this work, everything for THIS moment!
Which question will he choose? The one about Luffy's motivations, his missing family members? Some facts about the remaining Yonkous? Kuro's or Gin's fate?
"Oh hey, there's a fun question about french bread! Yeah I like french bread, baguette tastes awesome! Thanks for the effort. Bye!"
….
Trolled forever.
I laughed so hard. So yeah, even if your questions get in, you still might end up disappointed. Unless you aim for poop jokes, as Robby mentioned before.

Al!naJames got in quite recently. We also had another member to make it in, a Law cosplayer from Spain, if I remember correctly.

I thought it was Al!na, but I wasn't sure.

This is the most dream crushing thing i have ever read. It is probably the best trolling i have ever heard about too. Lol.

French bread FTW!
What a heart crushing tale of true heroism.
France to Japan, what a feat. -

Greg is a special case. I wouldn't be surprised if he was blacklisted by the 4th or 5th submission :P
-
Yeah… Al!na and Italian cosplayer guy did it. And if I can do it (working in a cave with a box of scraps) then anyone with the competency to write their name and location and the mailing address in Japanese can do it.
Greg is definitely a special case. He won me over with his compelling argument about how the readership would definitely get a kick out of never-before-done sand sculptures, but that seems to be one of Oda's rare blind spots.
Letters are a different story though. They're obviously not going to publish anything not written in Japanese (or in poorly-written Japanese) and even if you can get past that hurdle, the sheer quantity of mail Oda must receive combined with the apparent randomness when it comes to his selection of either inane joke questions or legit plot element questions makes getting selected incredibly unlikely.
If you just want him to read it… well there's no way to know if he does either way. But why not try, I guess.
