I think that you guys are heavily underestimating Oda's creativity.
Absolutely UP.
The same dumb comments was replied in ALL OP arcs.

I actually liked the Arlong design more than Hodi Jones.
16 chars of I agree with you.
That wasn't my point. I love it that Oda's bringing in the nostalgia. Whatever similarities or references from past arcs (it's much more than just Skypeia and Arlong Park, you know) just brings back so many happy memories. Besides, the story outline is still completely different. There will still be plenty to try a guessing game with.
It's moving a bit slowly, but "slow and steady wins the race" sometimes. I am the hare in that case.
It's way too soon in the arc to really judge much about it, but the fact that it's been brought up for such a long time and the fact that seafolk slavery has been continuously an issue makes me believe that this will be a very complex and long arc. It's not going to be as simple as any of the arcs in East Blue, and I'm sure it will be more of a major arc than Skypeia. The truth is that I feel that this arc will be more similar to Water7/EnniesLobby in nature than Skypeia.
Another similarity to Skypeia (in the way Eneru didn't appear until later)? I don't have a problem with them, but it's making this arc seem very predictable…
People see similarity everywhere where it doesnt really make sense. Because these are just storytelling procedures, used in many mangas.
Because the same similarities could be transferred to water seven. And truthfully I have seen more similarities with water seven and fishman island.
Some similarites Oda did purposely for example the 10000 metres up and down are similarities that Oda tried to have.

I see similarities between Oda's story telling and Dr.Seuses story telling!!
Some elements of a story will re-oucur. Oda can't continue to redefine himself in completely new ways. Unless you just wanna make this arc like Bleach. That would be redefining wouldn't it?
I think people like pointing out similarities because its the exact opposite environment as Skypeia.
I think Van Dekken will turn out to be a good guy.
OR, Van Dekken will be the one who marries the princess and the kingdom lives happily ever after.
I generally agree with this. I also think he will be a good guy.
@frog261642:
Its true that all we need to know is that it doubles his strength.
But do you think this "evil drug" will play some sort of plot point within the new world? I know it sounds like the dumbest coup-out of all time. But what if these "evil drugs" are being bought and sold because people are wanting to get stronger. If this is true, then Don Flamingo would most likely be behind much of the business that this has. Meaning we might get to see him soon.
I kinda hope not. I don't mind at all that the pills are being used in this arc but I would rather not have the pill power-up's happen several times in the story

I disagree. Ever since they got to Fishman Island I feel the story has been moving quite swiftly along.
By the way I think Sanji will fight Caribou in this arc.
Caribou has been let loose around the mermaids and Sanji is the only SH in that area. And besides Sanji directly protecting the mermaids in this arc just seems fitting.

I've seen speculation about a Fishman Island / Mariejois saga. While I find that extremely unlikely, just the thought of the SHs replicating Fisher Tiger's feat of climbing the Red Line, wreaking havoc in the government's "Holy Land" and freeing countless slaves sends shivers down my spine in a very good way. Again, virtually no chance of it happening, but holy damn would it be amazing and a hell of a start to announce them being back in business.

I don't think it's that unlikely. It's already been established that Luffy is the only person outside of Fisher Tiger who had the courage to attack the tenryuubito, and one of his brothers did "die" at the hands of one. Frankly, I would be surprised if Luffy didn't attack Mariejois.

Have you forgotten how long some people predicted it would take to reach fishman island itself? This is still a thousand times faster-paced than Naruto or Bleach.
No talking about the next chapter and when it comes out in this thread. Only in the appropriate thread. There are good solid reasons for it, I promise.
okay, but which one is the appropiate thread?
When it's opened, you'll see it, and before then you are supposed to restrain yourself from asking when it will happen in any other thread. If you must, you can use a PM to a fellow poster, I suppose.
Wrong thread Zik.
