After finding the last chapter hugely entertaining..
I think Zombie + Lawnmower is all I need to say.
But generally speaking, I think this series is getting better with time.
And does it remind anyone else of Hellsing?

Never got a hellsing feel off of this show.
A shinigami using a lawnmower to kick ass is much more cool than Bleach.
Never got a hellsing feel off of this show.
The last successor to a noblehouse directly under orders from the queen of england, that fights "crime" using an overpowered supernatural servant
,that mostly serves because of? why not?
also, don't mess with the old butler.
But you are right, the feel is definitely different, a lot more time is spent on fluff instead of ..grimdark
Frankly, the problem with Hellsing is that it started out serious and eventually stretched serious to insane.
I suppose I also found its take on the underlying history necessary to make the plot work more than a little absurd.
Kuroshitsuji had a comic edge from day 1, so you can give it more wiggle room.
Hmmm pity this is dead thread. I've recently found the manga and am trying to get others interested. I've seen some other forums but they are so … inane ... there. I'm still looking for a good forum to discuss the manga, not found anyplace that some intelligent talks going on.
The manga is still going on even if the anime ended. Frankly I'm glad the anime is dead, it veered off canon quickly after the Jack the Ripper arc and 2nd season should have never happened as its completely filler with no canon in it.

Huh, those are similar elements I've not paid attention to. I agree, that Hellsing is grim-dark while Kuroshitsuji has more humor
It is confirmed that there going to be a new season for **Kuroshitsuji animation.
**
Never heard of , maybe its worth to give it a try.
If i get any free time at sunday , i will give it a shot.
Will it follow the manga though? Would actually be kinda interested in seeing the Circus Arc (mainly the climax) animated.
The four different version of Kuroshitsuji live-adaptation movie preview has uploaded:
Sebastian Version:
Shiori Version:
Hanae Version:
Rin Version:
I am not impressed by the movie. It says it supposed to star a girl who is Ciel's decendant in modern time not even in England, but its a flimsy cover of having some characters from manga be in modern times.
Rin is obviously based on Mey-Rin, from the clumsy to goofy (glasses messy hair) look to "when glasses come off she's killer with a gun". They couldn't be bothered to give her a different name!
The girl looks like Ciel. I get that she has to pretend to be a boy to be head of the company, but why make her look the same as Ceil?
The one character that SHOULD look the same, Undertaker, looks like a totally different character called Jay the Undertaker X__X .
D they really think that this could compare to this=
[hide]
as the principal [/hide]
I mean c'mon. Ciel and Mey-rin are humans who lived in the 1880s. They would be dead in the 21st century so its okay for the characters to differ! Undertaker is a grim reaper, he doesn't age. He reaped Robin Hood so he was a reaper hundreds of years ago, so 100 years isn't a big deal to him. He should still be the same character as in manga/anime.
Frankly this is one movie I won't see. Don't get me wrong, the previews above look great, esp the top 2, its the 'characters from Victorian age now in modern age' that annoy me
As for anime….. here's hoping they do not follow the 2nd season storyline. Its all filler...most of 1st season was too after the Jack the Ripper arc.
And don't get me started how the butchered Grell! (S)he is one of the top fighters seen in action in the manga, behind Sebastian and Undertaker. The anime reduced him/her to comedy relief and only remembered his/her badassery at end of the 2nd season to fight Hannah.
They are better off it being stand alone and not connected to previous anime. and I do hope they follow more of the manga. Like above, the Circus arc would be wonderful to see. So would the Ship Voyage arc.
I would LOVE to see that three-way fight of Sebastian VS Grell & Ronald VS Undertaker
I was just using the search engine for the lulz and…. WE HAVE A THREAD FOR KUROSHITSUJI HERE? Its kinda dead but I am still crying tears of joy!
Ahem.
Anyway, I have a feeling that the manga will end with the of the collapse of the Britian Empire, along with the conflict between England and Germany (and other stuff of course).
It has been hinted for a long time, getting more and more prominent since the Phantomhive Murder Arc.
I didn't notice how long ago it was from my last post (jan 2014) two years ago!
Well the anime season 3 'Book of Circus' was nothing like season 2! For one, it followed the manga pretty good. Two it didn't go out of the way to bash certain characters -Grell and Lizzy - like the previous seasons did.
Yes, Lizzy was a brat in the manga when we first saw her. And yes she often has some airheaded moments. But it wasn't as bad as the seasons 1 &2 made her out to be. In fact in the manga's Ship Voyage arc we learn how bad-ass Lizzy is. Hell she impressed a demon with her sworsmanship!!
And Yes, when we first see Grell in the manga, he was acting like a clutz while he was pretending to be Madam Red's butler in the Jack the Reaper arc. But like Lizzy , we later on see what a bad-ass Grell is (heck to date is over 100 chapters and that arc Grell appeared in was near the beginning!) only two characters have been shown to fight better than Grell -Sebastian and Undertaker.
The problem with season 1 is that it got ahead of the manga by the middle of the Curry Arc. While the beginning was similar to the manga, the ending of the arc differed quite a bit (none of that possession-like crap that used chocolate curry to cure it!) then every thing was different. Since the anime didn't wait to see how characters would grow they changed to being filler.
Worse is that they changed certain people drastically… say Queen Victoria. Early in season 1 they portrayed her correctly, as an old woman who dressed in proper black (for grieving, which real Queen was known to to) Victorian garb. but later on they somehow changed the queen to a little Lolita, complete different look - young as Ciel, short and lolli dress, not the proper attire of a queen. ... and never shown Ciel -who is the Queen's Watchdog - to question this change. WE the audience are led to think that this was always her look.
Season 2 - I've said it before "Less said about that season, the better." and "The entire season was filler, not a thing was canonical. Lets pretend it never happened."
Season 3 was a complete break from the previous seasons. It really is separate from season 2 (which was filler) and most of season 1 (due to filler), and acts of if those never happened. I'm quite happy with this season and hope more follow it ... in the formula of less filler crap.
Time to revive this thread temporarily.
Book of atlantic has already been released (June 12th for sub & June 14 for dub) in USA according to Funimation. It is one of the best arc in this series so I'm looking forward to it once I can watch it in my country.
Oh boy…
Spoiler for chapter 129 obviously.
!
Regarding the current arc(Blue sect arc):
Overall the arc has been so-so even with a character death. The whole blood & star thing was pretty intriguing. But the boy band shit happen & it really derailed the plot badly. The pacing is also really slow. Bravat is also an extremely flat villain which doesn't help much. I know he's obviously not the mastermind but he is so boring. As usual the undertaker is the main suspect of this arc according to many but I don't think it is him.
Despite Bravart's connection to the secretive blood collection, I never thought that Undertaker was involved with this arc.
Thanks for the spoiler.
[hide] I never believed in the twin Ciel theory. I didn't see anything making me think of the possibility until recent chapters when Agni found that picture that we still haven't seen. Though The Ceil we know should still be the proper Lord Phantomine as he was the one to in front of Queen Victoria and was recognized as a lord. Well at least he can tell the difference between them due to the eyes.

Undertaker has been the culprit for two arcs…Some fans speculate that the bloods is needed to create "perfect Bizarre doll". But Othello has hinted it might be a demon.
! The fandom is pretty much divided into "I absolutely hate it", "I'm neutral" and "I love it". LOL
It's reminding me of what happen in Gravity Fall fandom. XD
! I'm actually neutral toward this development. I want to see how the author plan to develop this before declaring it is bad. I only knew of the twin theory last year. While there are holes in the theory, it has some pretty interesting evidences starting from the Circus arc.
I just the author is smart enough not to reveal our Ciel actual name…
! Most fans are speculating that the "Real Ciel" is a Bizarre doll hence the Undertaker connection. Also, the scene of Undertaker feeding the vial to him at the beginning of the arc. "It's too early for you to wake up".
! I hope Tanaka can tell the difference between them...
! The next theory to confirm is Undertaker being the grandfather & he is trying to revive Claudia.XD

I'd be perfectly happy to find it is just the army doing illicit experiments as suggested. Its not out of the realm of possibility. After all the German army was behind the entire plot of the Green Witch Program.
There's been plenty of other arcs where Undertaker is not the culprit. As much as I do love him (and yes he is my fave!!!!) I don't think Undertaker should be behind everything (or most of it).
I do hope its another demon. Its about time we see another one … and no not Claude!! Yana can be more creative than that damn filler character! I had hoped that we would get to see other supernatural creatures besides Sebastian in the Green Witch arc. But both the witch and the werewolves were fake.
So over 100 chapters into a manga with a demonic butler and only 3 supernatural beings have been seen (counting what is in the manga only) =
1 Demon (Sebastian)
7 Grim Reapers (Grell Sutcliff, William T Spears, Ronald Knox, Undertaker, Ludger, Sasha, Othello)
score of Bizzare Dolls (countless horde on Campainia, Margaret Conner, Derrick, Agares)
I was really hoping that Agares was a demon before it was revealed he was a bizzare doll. It was one time I was really wrong on the theories in this fandom. Many thought he was a B.doll but I didn't believe. Boy was I wrong there.
Its about time we see more of this world, like a demon that isn't influenced by bad filler characters (or other words any demon appeared in the anime whose not named Sebastian Michaelis)

! Wait! … what clue was in the Circus arc? I must have missed it. I don't get the 'Ciel is a bizarre doll theory. Its more likely that there is a hidden twin.
! Though I do agree its odd that Undertaker was making Ciel drink something at the beginning.
! I do like the idea of Undertaker and Claudia P. are romantically connected.

In the Green Witch Arc, it seem supernatural element is involved but at the same time there are hints it is not quite what it seem. And turn out the Green witch village is a top secret project by the military.
In this arc, we have a shinigami who said "God"(In japanese, it's just higher up)is finally taking this seriously . And that shinigami also pointed out on 2 occasion that a demon might be involved but he isn't 100% sure himself which is odd. I doubt it is the military again. The supernatural hints is strong in this arc. It would be boring for 2 arc straight for the military to be involved.
Where all the blood is going to is still a big mystery & I think is ties in to what Othello said about God taking things seriously.
I personally feel Sebastian being the only demon in this series make him special. XD
I don't mind seeing another one though. We may get one this arc.
As I said, I don't think Undertaker is pulling the string for this arc. Him being the culprit for every arc will be boring. But he does have some connection to this arc. Some fans suggest it could be Osiris (Osiris is the company that bought the Aurora Society technology in reviving the dead according to Ryan. Ciel think it is a fake company. But Undertaker has mentioned them as "the eccentric bunch" who wanted the experiment on Campania. In the school arc, Undertaker said it would be a hassle if "certain individuals" found out about what he's doing) I think those fans could be right.
! This should cover you.https://kuroshitsujitheories.tumblr.com/post/132024139030/two-ciels-theory-all-hints-so-farhttp://akumadeenglish.tumblr.com/post/161897005377/about-the-2ct-theory-twins-is-so-absurd-to-me
The Ciel that we know took on the identity of his brother, the real Ciel. The real Ciel died when he was stabbed. Sebastian also apparently ate his soul. If he was revived, he would be a bizarre doll.
! The whole Undertaker being the grandfather started because of this:
Vincent's father is someone named Cedric K Ros-. His father birth & death year was hidden by the speech bubble. Undertaker doesn't have a name yet. Undertaker cares a lot for the Phantomhive.
I think it's plausible but I don't really want it. He gets the "Worst Grandfather of the year" award if it was true.
It seem some people have problem with Undertaker being able to procreate even though Bleach did it. XD
words
! Ah thanks ! In the 2nd link, I never took notice how in that genealogy chart the line at the base was forked into two. That alone suggests there was more than one child to Vincent & Rachel.
It's out! http://readms.net/r/black_butler/129/4360/1
I just spent the morning in the Kuro wikia discussion page for last chapter, 128, here. Since the chapter is out, do I really need spoiler tags to discuss this? esp since it seems only you and I, SunnyBlue? Maybe we can get le crystal to return (as they visited around a year ago?)
It also talks about some clues for the ceil twin theory.
Ch. 62 - When Ciel & Sebastian first return to the ruins of the burned out mansion, Ciel visits his parents graves. Its pointed out that there are 4 there.
[hide] [/hide]
I remember thinking first time I read it that was only 3 graves for Vincent, Rachel & Ciel. I didn't think anything more of that since it was a graveyard with more crosses, grave markers in the background. But on rereading it I took notice of that the 4 crosses are all aligned next to each other, exact same design (tall cross on a 3 step pyramid) while ones in back had several different designs. More importantly, all four had the 'freshly dug' look to them, you could see the dirt around the tombstone.
Also in that dissucsion page, it pointed out in 99.5 we get to see a playroom, =
[hide] [/hide]
Its noted that there are 2 sets of dishes, two of each silverware, two glasses, two bowls. There are even two teddy bears.
On rereadind 99.5 I saw this one page that seemed to resonate with the newest chapter 129, I suggest reading the new chapter before viewing this=
[hide]
Compare that emotion to ch 129's ending=
At first I thou little Ciel was belligerent to the idea of having any sort of brothers. IT wouldn't be unusual for that to be the case. After all we've been thinking that he was a single child of a rich family. Usually such a young child wouldn't want to 'share' with any sort of sibling at first as they were not used to it. So any idea of 'new brothers' or 'almost like a brother' wouldn't be accepted at first.
But this chapter made me wonder if it was the opposite. Instead of opposing the idea of having someone close as a brother, that he was being possessive of his real brother.
This recent chapter really set the tone of a condescending older brother that's possessive of his littler brother. [/hide]
I knew that Finny could be a bit childish and even …simple minded. But really Fin? He notes that "Something" was off about the newcomer from the start but didn't realize what? But the others didn't seem to catch anything?
ANYTHING you missed, oh servants of Phantomhive?
Something REALLY noticeable?
Like the fact he wasn't wearing an eye-patch? The fact that all the time you've worked there, the young master always wore an eyepatch? The newness of seeing both eyes on a face that should have wore an eye patch was something to take note of people!!
[hide] [/hide]
Ch. 130 is out and it confirms the twin theory. Not only did Vincent & Rachel have twin boys, but the Ciel we know isn't the firstborn, the rightful heir. In "our Ciel's" own words, he "was the spare". Yet we still do not know his real name!
I've posted this somewhere else but the site acted wonky….
The real-Ciel states he is head of Phantomhive. BUT the head of the house is an entitled Earl and it was our-Ciel who presented himself in front of the Queen and was recognized and thus received the title of Earl.
though of ch 130 it was revealed that its true. The newcomer is the real Ciel and was heir and the one we know was "the spare" (as he called himself). So how will that play out? Will the twin we know and love keep the title of Earl? Or would the Queen state that is the newcomer since he IS the real Ciel and it was "Ciel", no matter who wore the name, who was received the title of Earl?
And what of the servants?
Tanaka is likely the only one willingly loyal to the real Ciel and that's just out of loyalty to the House of Phantomhive and history of serving their father. He would be loyal to the head, no matter which twin it is.
Sebastian is a certainty to stay loyal and still serve the twin we know.
But what of the others?
The Newcomer, real-Ciel, acts as if they are servants of the house (well technically they are) and likely expect they serve him. BUT Sebastian is contracted to our beloved boy (and WHEN are they going to reveal his real name?!) and is loyal to him, not the newcomer. Also it was our boy that with Sebastian went and recruited May-Rin, Baldroy, & Finny. Our Ciel asked Snake. As shown way back when Agni (cries) first talked to May-Rin, they have a emotional bond to our boy.
So will they stay loyal to the twin we know ?
Does anyone know where one can read chapter 138 in English? Because 139 has just been released and 138 is nowhere to be seen in the sites I usually visit :wassat:

I've recently had to go find a new site as the one I used before, kissmanga, now demands we disable ad blocker. That is something I refuse to do as every time its disabled I get swarmed with popups that take over the screen and never go away.
Here's where I've found last two chapters= http://mangakakalot.com/manga/kuroshitsuji
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I often visit MangaHere, but the don't have last two chapters.
Mangastream often has it, but they too stop at 137, and don't have 138, much less most recent 139.
Glad to see someone else is following this manga!
Damn, kissmanga was pretty cool. The new policy is so damn annoying. But I couldn't find chapter 138 in that website either. I found a link to a very crappy version of it though:
https://datebayoblog.wordpress.com/2018/03/17/kuroshitsuji-ch-138/
Of course I follow this manga! It's just incredible! I love Sebastian's overwhelming power, Ciel's strategic capabilities and ruthlessness, and all the Victorian era references. It's awesome! Though this arc has been dragging for a bit too long now. And I can't picture how in the world the real Ciel is supposed to be alive at this point :wassat:
I can't figure out how the real-Ciel is alive at this point either, esp. after what we see in ch 139. If you've not read it, I won't spoil it.
Did the link to MangaHere work? Its where I read the past two chapters. They tend to be clean and good translation like Kissmanga had.
and yeah Kissmanga really annoyed me with the new policy. And it is really new, in the past 1-3 weeks only. I was able to enter it a month ago with no problems.
I've gotten hooked on this manga, its the only other one I follow closely along with One Piece. I agree its incredible. I love the alt-Victorian references and Yana does include a lot of Victorian culture within. From "the Season" (referenced back in Jack the Ripper arc) to the fact nobility often married first cousins, such as case with Ciel and Lizzie, it wasn't made illegal until 1895.
And yes Sebastian is something else. You've got to read the last two chapters! I want to go gushing about something but don't know if you've read/seen it yet.
What do you think about Undertaker and Grell? They are among my top 5 favorite characters.
Lizzy used to annoy me to no end. But then the Ship Voyage arc happened and various the flashbacks and her character had some development and I can understand where she's coming from now. Instead of being a self-absorbed brat that refused to grow up, I see her as more selfless deciding to deny her own desires for more grownup things so she would outdo Ceil. She also acts childish for him so he seems more mature compared to her. She remembers how he (well now we know its the real one, not Smile) said that intense, focused assertive woman like his aunt Frances, Lizzy's mom, scares him. Lizzy was scared that Ciel wouldn't like her if he saw how "scary she was" IE how well she fights and how intense she can be, like she was fighting the Bizarre Dolls. But our-Ciel, Smiles, reassured her that he could never hate her for her fighting ability, and after that she didn't seem to be so annoying in the Easter chapters.
It makes me wonder how she is going to deal with the two Ciels when we FINALLY end the current flashback and get back to that plothole of her missing.
Yeah, I've just read the last 2 chapters. That is why it is even harder to imagine how in the world the real Ciel is alive!! I mean, his death triggered the demon summoning, Sebastian pulled a ring from inside him… What?
Lizzy had some greaaaaat character development, it's cool how she seemed like this little annoying brat but it was mostly an act for Ciel's sake. And damn, can she fight!
I love the Undertaker and I'm itching for him to be back in action. I want to know his real goal in all of this and if he is somehow involved with Ciel's "ressurection", maybe? Grell is mostly annoying to me haha. But the introduction of other Reapers has made her more interesting. They're another party with a mysterious stake and I know they will play some big big role later on.
I have no idea how this manga is not more popular out there. Everything is great: characters, setting, plot, interactions. There's gore, there's suspense, there's mystery, there's magic powers but also real world logic... It's a shame it's monthly
But if it was weekly I doubt Yana would have time to do all that awesome art. It would be missing a lot of detail work.
What I like about Grell is her ability to act (c'mon she's able to do a disguise better than most!) and her fighting ability. Its one thing that I HATE about early seasons of the anime. Season 1 diverged straight into filler crap aright after the Jack the Ripper arc, during the Curry arc and never, ever got back on track. It took season 3 to go back to canon.
Okay there is a LOT I hate about the anime but how Grell is done is in top 3. They went with just the clumsy, suicidal, failure of a butler she pretended to be and made her completely clumsy, the clown character good for only laughs. THAT'S NOT GRELL!
Grell is an amazing fighter,#3 of the fighters we have seen fighting in the manga. Sebastian is #2 and Undertaker is #1. I know some die-hard fans insist that I got 1 &2 mixed up, but I disagree. Undertaker had no trouble fighting Sebastian, Grell & Ronald at same time. While Sebastian had a easier time in that 3-way fight than Grell & Ronald, it wasn't as easy as Undertaker had it.
I don't count Will Spears in that list for one reason, he's never had a true fight in the manga, so cannot compete in "strongest fighters we've seen in the manga". We've only seen him abuse Grell, and be willing to fight Sebastian but not an actual battle scene.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
On a different note, have you ever tried to list the anachronistic items/events that happen in the manga?
In early chapters we see a rotary phone, a car that looks from the 1920s(when gangster guy kidnapped Ciel), games that look akin to handhelds (in first chs, when Claus talked to Ciel) and even tvs (well not actually seen but described by an amazed Soma as "how did the get such little people in that box?). I'm assuming they are ultra rare items that came out and only the "mega-rich" and well connected are able to get them.
Later on much of the anachronism seems to be less obvious... until the Green Witch arc, with its nerve gas (was it called Sarin?) and the Panzer tank. At first I was thinking that the tank wasn't too bad maybe 20-25 years ahead than real life, but then I remembered what the tanks in WWI (tire tred look almost diamond shaped) looked like, it wasn't the look of that tank it was a Panzer which is WWII, so yeah, that's nearly 50 yrs early. lol
