In an alternate universe where Square isn't a gigantic moron of a company, the Final Fantasy VII remake for PS4 plays Crazy Chocobo whenever you do chocobo breeding.
Makes it seem less like a monotonous waste of time than it is.

I hate 'montsers in your party' with a passion, I find it impossible to form any sort of attachment to them and I'd much rather just have a normal party member character who does the same thing. It's even worse if you have to do some stupid minigames with them to get bonuses or whatever. It's why I completely ignored super training in Pokemon, and one of the reasons why I threw Kingdom hearts dream drop distance in the garbage. I still haven't touched Ni no kuni because of it.
Mog, Umaro, Gao, Red XIII, Zidane, Freya, Kimahri and Fran are sad to hear you don't like monsters in the party. Rydia, Garnet and Yuna are sad you don't like summons.
ANd a good chunk of the cast in Dragon Quest games.

You know know what I meant. Those guys are actual characters, the monsters I'm talking about are just emotionless blank slates that have no bearing on the plot and no actual real relation to the characters outside of battle. Their not even like pets, they're just animals you enslave to fight for you because you can't find any real friends to fight with you.

You… don't treat pokemon like your trusted friends and companions? That poor loyal metal slime that left the wilds to journey with you? All the Nino Kuni creatures that you have to form heart relationships with to convince them to join? You don't consider any of them friends?
You monster!

Pfft, dawdling around making friends with them is why you ended up with such a pathetic krabby ashy-boy
Golbez: Congrats, you just destroyed the equivalent of three Kujas. Exdeath here is worth five Kujas. And I am worth 15 Kujas.
Exdeath: Aww come on, don't get so down on yourself. At you've proven that your Kuja is still stronger than our Kuja

All of my Pokemon are either battle slaves that I use to win badges or trophies to be displayed in an online box. All except for Heracross who's actually a pretty cool guy.
Is that the super spoiler trailer I've heard of?

I'm sure it will /sarcasm
Tss, you never get to summon Rami :getlost:
Final Fantasy XI (the first MMO) will shutdown its services on Xbox 360 and PS2 in March 2016. The PC release will remain unaffected.

That Ramuh summoning was, for a lack of a better word, epic. Classic Ramuh greatness. XV is shaping up to be one good installment.
I didnt know FFXI still extisted…interesting
also..FInal fantasy Record Keeper for iOS just debuted in US App stores today...looks weird, hopefully its not as bad as all the bravest was
Oh yeah, FFXI still makes plenty of money.

A bit early for April Fools, Square Enix…
Too bad it isn't a joke.
I think the reasons for an all male cast are fine, guys do act differently when it's just a close knit group of guys.:ninja:
At least in Xeno X there are plenty of girls

This isn't new territory though. Square Enix acts like they're breaking storytelling ground by ("raising the curtains")… chronicling the adventure of a bunch of dudebros.
Movies/TV/games that feature men having dynamic nuanced conversations with each other.... nearly all of them.
Movies/TV/games that pass the Bechdel test... way too few.
What's problematic is the notion that not having a diverse cast of characters makes the cast less "accessible".

Oh god, they're going to say something stupid aren't they!?!
"Speaking honestly, an all-male party feels almost more approachable for players," Tabata told GameSpot in a recent interview. "Even the presence of one female in the group will change their behaviour, so that they'll act differently. So to give the most natural feeling, to make them feel sincere and honest, having them all the same gender made sense in that way,"
NATURAL. SINCERE. APPROACHABLE. ONE FEMALE IN THE GROUP WILL CHANGE THEIR BEHAVIOUR.
I'm okay if we want to change this back to a 'Square Enix Sucks' thread.
I think this statemant makes absolutely sense. I´m glad that they don´t change their vision. You wan´t to make a story with an all male cast? Go ahead, if thats what you really want.
And also it´s true. Throw one girl in a group with four guys and you will automatically get a different group dynamic. If you want to tell a story about brotherhood and male cameradarie, a girl wouldn´t really
fit into the whole scenario.
But anyway i´m sure along the way there will be girls who will join your group, they even said they can´t say that the party will be just males all the time.
Well …honestly...my behaviour does change when there is a girl around.
I can hardly blame them for using this as a reason
Y'all are forgetting the other incredibly important point he was making
"Speaking honestly, an all-male party feels almost more approachable for players" That in conjunction with the whole "females change the dynamic" is pretty damn stupid, not that either statement alone isn't ridiculous
I think IGN's wording of it does not help. There are females in the game who play a big role, they are just not part of the playable cast. And you do get a different dynamic in mose cases when you have a group of only one gender as opposed to a mixed. Not always but it is easier to portray this by sticking to one gender. The only line that really doesn't make sense is the one Purple hermit quoted. What feels most approachable is entirely based on the perception of the player. If a girl played FFX they may feel it would be more approachable if the cast was all female. It's a reverse of what was said but is entirely feasible and quotes like that restrict the user-base.
It is his opinion of course, maybe he is just shy around women :ninja:

I think that for Square this is relatively new territory in that they haven't written a story like this about a small close knit group of boys where it feels like they are all 'bros'. Going off of Tabata's statements they themselves may be deluded in thinking that they are the first to think of this and that no one has seen this before "The world might be ready to see what boys do when girls aren't around" but I at least think that it's going to be a new party feel for a Square Enix game and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it.
You're right though, them thinking that this is going to be more 'accessible' is dumb this definitely makes it more niche because it's definitely going for a certain kind of appeal.
ITT people who are guys know that it's true and girls get angry, because something about feminism I guess.
We had FFX-2, now it's time for Final Dude-tasy XV - I'm all in for it, I don't care for what genitalia they've got, as long as it's a good game (and it's been a long time since we had a good FF game).
Except it ain't true? At all? Since when has having a multi gender cast ever made an FF game less approachable for me?
Having an all male cast isn't too irksome to me, but the mindset that went into making that decision is incredibly dumb.
In my personal experience, the predominant change in a male-group dynamic by the absence of girls, is how the topic of girls is discussed.
And thinking back on how such conversations usually go, especially in a Dudebro context, I'd be quite happy to swap that for a female party member. Not that it can't be fun to indulge in, but it can grow kinda forced, and viewed from the outside, extended periods of All Male Dudebro-ness can come across as…less appealing.
Certainly not alleviating my misgivings are the games version of Cid
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-12-22-final-fantasy-15-reveals-first-female-version-of-mechanic-cid
Boy I sure do hope we get to see All Male Group Dynamics directed at this character
The dynamic's generally going to vary based on the people we're talking about and area of location. In particular, I'd imagine gender dynamics with groups of people in Japan would already differ from what it's like in the West with obvious exceptions. The weird part of the interview is the 'more approachable for players' part because it seems to be excluding female players though it's obvious that's not the intention with the characters' designs. It would have sounded better if he simply specified male players.
I also don't really agree since if anything, it seems like the current setup would be very off-putting to many players with male players who don't want to buy it because they don't like the designs and female players who don't buy it because of no female players.
But who really just plays games where his gender/race is present ? I don´t think there are really female players for example who will say that FF XV isn´t interesting for them ,because its an all male cast….

Well in the Demo she refers to Cid as her father ,so i guess we won´t see her as the first female Cid after all.

Thats true.

If some male players can reject FFX-2 based on its cast alone, same can hold true in reverse.
Well in the Demo she refers to Cid as her father ,so i guess we won´t see her as the first female Cid after all.
Her name is Cidney, and she's a mechanic. Even if shes not "the" Cid of XV, I'm gonna count her as a Cid.
Actually, her name is Cindey…...I was very disappointed when I learned this.
I could be wrong as I don't speak japanese, but the FF wiki has gotten it listed as Cindey (シドニー, Shidonī?, lit. Cidney)
soooo I guess it could be a translation goof?
This is what the bottom says:
Cindy is a feminine given name, the shortened version of Cynthia. Cynthia is a feminine given name of Greek origin meaning "from Mount Cynthus".
Her Japanese name is Cidney referring to the recurring character Cid, who is her father in Final Fantasy XV
I think she's also introduced herself as Cindy in one of the trailers, so as far as the English-speaking community goes, that's her name. I may be mistaken since it's been a while since I've watched it.
