This is a thread to discuss the art of stand-up comedy and recognize many famous comedians of the biz, from Bill Hicks and Louis C.K., to Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy.
YouTube also has a great supply of videos of many great comedians, so feel free to post them here as well.

anywho, my two favorites are Christopher Titus and George Carlin. They're more than comics: they're storytellers and performers who convey concepts more important than simple humor in their material. I love comics like these two.

The only one I like thats not been posted already is… Ricky Gervais. Admittedly, some of the stuff he talks about is pretty contravention (though which comedian isn't?? Plus... he is a pretty mainstream atheist, so its kinda expected)

Why does everyone seem to like eddie izzard. I had high hopes for him, even saw him live.. maybe he was having an off night but he wasn't in the least bit funny to me.

Btw, which stand-up comedians have you seen live? So far I've only seen Pablo Francisco and I did very much enjoy that, had a tummy ache for the rest of the evening from laughing so much.
I am going to see Al Madrigal at the end of the month. After Greg Giraldo passed I told myself I would start going to see my favorite stand ups on a regular basis from now on so that I miss as few as possible. In my short lifetime we have lost Carlton, Hicks, Girlado, Hedberg and many more. I refuse to miss any more. Al is truly an exceptional and effortless comedian. Check him out and give more exposure to this great comic. Louis CK is my favorite active stand up for the record. I have been a huge fan forever and his recent show 'Louie' has really sent my fandom over the edge. I also just found Donalnd Glover who is young and very talented - definitely recommended. Anwho here is Al.

Now i could make some cracks about Germans not having invented humor yet. But i honestly pretty curious about what you guys think is funny, as i haven't got a clue. So i'd love to see some of the german cream of the comedy crop.
