I've got many DS games from the US and Jump: Ultimate Stars from Japan and they work fine on my DS.
I think the 3DS is going in a more console direction, since home consoles have had region locks for a while now, and there's also the fact that it has a movie service via Netflix.

I'll be so annoyed if they've wasted spaces for Marco and Jozu and left out Magellan, Akainu or Jinbe.
This seems to be falling into all the same holes as Gigant did for the roster >.<

it looks like amrco is playable but the one of jozu is him throwing the iceberg that opens up where luffy falls. My guess is jozu is cutscene only. who were the New characters again?
I know hancock and ivankov are confirmed and jinbei and akainu are very likely but was there a fifth person. i can't remember?edit: never mind i remember now

Marco got in. There's no excuse at all to NOT have Jinbe, Akainu, Sengoku, 3, Vista, Hina, 1 or Sentomaru now. Since all of them shown more moves and did way more than he did. (Seriously. Actually look at what Marco did. He was basically fodder.)

actually marco might get a decent moveset to some point
but with jinbe , sengoku , hina and sentomaru would happen the same as to whitebeard , moria or spandam

Jinbe and Hina both have full movesets from previous games. Both also have been seen enough in canon to make moves. Marco has what? 3-4 moves?
But then again. They even made up moves for the likes of Shanks, Paulie, Doflamingo, Spandam, Kid and loads others so it doesn't really matter.

i've seen the trailers before but it's good we have confirmation of squardo and his cutscene only appearance. I also see they have the BGM for marineford on the blog. I wonder if that's just for the map or for the fights cause i think the fights should have something more epic

Sadly, the 3DS is region locked and I am not going to dish out 250 bucks for a Japanese 3DS just to play one game. If I believed in God, I would pray that this game would be released in the U.S.A. Chances of that happening are almost zero though. I can't even remember the last One Piece game that was released in America.

For all intents and purposes, it would seem likely that it would be released after a time in Europe. They've already released a Gigant Battle DS port, and Unlimited Cruise Ep1 and Ep2 got the treatment (even to a point of having a Ep1/Ep2 special bundle only available in Europe). So hopefully before Xmas we'll see it - Gigant Battle PAL version came out fairly quickly - and to be fair Ep1 and Ep2 already have subtitles done by Ganbarion from the wii game anyway.

but seriously, I think Joz will be cutscene only. And the remaining 3 brand-new characters will be Akainu, Jinbe, and Sengoku. But I would prefer Magellan, honestly.
And I predict Mr. 2 will be one of the updated characters, as will Buggy.

Hmm….I'm curious as to why Luffy has a slot on the characters page. He hasn't really shown many new moves.....unless they're going to do something like Gigant Battle and incorporate Gear 2 into his regular repertoire or maybe add Gear 3 into it as well. Otherwise, I'm kind of stumped.
From that small video, it didn't look like Aokiji or Kizaru got any new moves but I suppose that wasn't the best show of power from them. Hopefully we'll get more and longer videos of some of the new characters in action.

There's a possibility that we'll get more characters in the Marineford Arc mode (since it seems that most of the new content will just be lumped into this new mode). I also hope that we get to have some of the vs mode islands from all the games into one vs mode - since it would suck if you can only play Ep1 vs mode islands in ep1, and ep2 islands in ep2, and then Marineford just by itself for it's own mode. Since we saw Bon Kurei vs Iva-san in the Marineford stage, I'm assuming you'd be able to have everyone in one big mix… hopefully....
The only other thing I'm wondering is if Ep1 and Ep2 have gotten any changes or touchups during the dev process. Or just Marineford as the magic box of 'new stuff', and Ep1 and Ep2 are copied/pasted. It might end up being like a multiboot game - select Ep1 - play it. Reset the cartridge to play Ep2 or Marineford arc when it's unlocked...
Fingers crossed there'll be extra characters we don't know about (kizaru was a surprise, as was Oars and Doflamingo in Ep2), and extra's littered throughout to make it worth playing through for those who already have...
Ahhhh the questions keep bugging me...
From the scan it seems that Jozu has his Ice Block throw as a special attack... man that will be fun to throw against Dai Enkai Entei in vs mode....

Has it been confirmed that thats how the story would play cause i was hoping it would just go straight into it (from ep 1 to ep 2 i mean. i expect marineford to be a separate mode) otherwise if i wanted to do it on unlimited after finishing it on normal i don't see how my stats would be transfered back to the first game

Not sure. I was just speculating. Hopefully you can just jump into Marineford Arc. I'm just wondering how they'll mix the games together, since Ep1 and Ep2 were still separate games with separate game files. Just as multi-boot game discs, I wonder if they'll have an option. Hopefully it's just all in one big game with upgraded stats moveable around.

Well I read that 3DS developers could theoretically use up to 8 Gigabytes of space for their game in future. Right now the limit seems to be set at 2 Gigs but that number could very well vary from game to game. Also I suppose the 3DS version would be smaller, higher rez textures and such aren't needed on a small screen like that.

The fact that most of the complex stuff (all the characters and sounds) were in the 2th disk, the 2th game was actualy smaller by a couple of megs, and the islands themselves couldn't be that big.. It was a marketing ploy.

so Jinbe. Now all they need to do is confirm Akainu (and Magellan and we are all set =3) But then again we've already got the 5 chars. Would be downright retarded to not put the Arc villain in tho. But then again. These are the same lot who allowed a OP game to go out with a third of the main cast missing.
Looks like they'll be some stuff in the main game too. That's good since thats the only stuff I care about.

Has anyone thought that maybe these characters being confirmed are who you get to play as in Marineford Mode? That maybe the last dude is Galdino or Das Bones and not Akainu? We have only seen confirmations of pirates so far.
