Why do so many people think that Crocodile's a woman?

let alone Luffy's mother. I know that this is old, but seriously, I want to settle two things:

For those of you who actually believe this, why and how? For reference, we are talking about this guy:

While we're on the topic, why is the standard of drawing Crocodile as a woman so, well, wrong? Who started the whole yellow eyes, cigarette, make up, stocking, high heel thing? The only image I've found that is pretty good is this one:

It kind of looks like him.

The rest, not to say they are bad, but don't look like him. They're just some woman dressed up as him.

Come to think of it, same goes for the normal pictures of him. They look more like…effeminate male models dressed up as him. He's more masculine in this picture: http://th09.deviantart.net/fs50/PRE/f/2009/332/c/b/Crocodile_by_clickmon.png than he is in most.

For Christ's sake, isn't he supposed to be 40 anyways? Who decided that instead of being a thick necked, strangler (http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/028/0/4/seventh_by_gmodgame-d389mta.png) is instead a pouting rich boy(http://gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=607450)?
