      Just been on Conceptart forums for a while and, it's the first forum I've encountered that has such a button (I'm left wondering why that is :blink:): The humble 'Thanks' button for useful posts!

      Essentially, it's like a 'quick feedback' button or 'rating' for a comment, as in the 'Like' button on Facebook. Clicks of this button have a track record alike to making posts (so you can tell who's just clicking the thing willing-nilly) and it's helpful for when you want to give some sort of appreciation, if you feel you don't have much to contribute at the time/feel like you're just bumping without new material. Especially so on art threads.

      Also, the 'Thanks' you've received on your posts can appear by your name instead of post count (in the case of this forum where post-count isn't shown).

      Ex. http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=144069 - Same user-panel layout and forum style for the most part. ..Meaning it should be possible on a technical basis xD;

      Just throwing it out there :happy:

        Not going to add anything to the forum really. It's just like posts count.. Pointless!!

          Personally I thought it was better than having a post count, as such things aren't typically earned as much as this is.

          But hey y'know, by all means just shoot it down as 'pointless' without so much as giving a reason. Much appreciated. 😉

            People aren't even aware there's a report button, I'm sure a Thanks button would get even less use.

            Its not a bad idea, but I do think it'd ultimately be pretty pointless. Just by hanging around you get an idea of who posts well and who doesn't, an arbitrary number doesn't really quantify that in any way.

              :happy: Ah, you're probably right.. ^ I had an idea what the !!'s were but I can see how people miss the fact it's a Report button. Guess it's in a different place to where it usually might be? (next to the 'Online/Offline' marker, so it looks like it's pertaining to the user as opposed to the post). Not really THAT hard to spot though.. but I digress.

              It's not really just for that alone, it's more 'I like this- I'll get back to this later', which is the way I use it on CA. Kind of like 'fave-and-running' when you don't have time to elaborate. But no matter, worth a try :ninja: heehee

                This is employed on AnimeSuki as "reputation". On FWZ we have Win/Fail, but in both cases the button is used for trolling fairly often.

                I'd support this if it were only positive flags and "anonymous" thanking, which is a derivative of AnimeSuki's system (in your control panel, you get a + or - for a post and a comment, without knowing who it's from) just instead of a public reputation.

                Public rep is as bad if not worse than post count.

                  @someone:

                  If you know who negate your reputation, chances are, you are going to do the same thing back.

                  If you know who adds your reputation, chances are, you will reputate him/her too.

                  True 'nuff.

                  They have limits on how much reputation they can give out in one go, so if a troll was coming back repeatedly and bad-repping 10 posts every day just because they can, it'll stick out like a sore thumb (if the mods could see their 'reputation use').

                  But eh, it seems like any system can be used and mis-used. :ninja: I guess I didn't consider that angle of it on CA forum, didn't recall any misuse of it going down in there.

                    I don't know how this could be when its easily given away with two exclamation marks…lol

                    Perhaps we could take an even more subtle route with this puppy.

                    ! Oops, did I say subtle?

                    Joking aside though it's rare that we don't have a staff member around to sort obvious rule breaking and what not. The report button isn't needed in most cases nowadays.
