Well, first of all, I saw the Final Fantasy movie…And..Well, yeah, it was cool but it had no connection with the original final fantasy story...except CId.
And Resident Evil apocalypse...Didnt focus on Jill and Carlos...

SPLINTER CELL! and FINAL FANTASY with a better story line that's connected with the final fantasy saga

The best game to have turned into a film would probably be, in my opinion, a remake of Metal Gear and Metal Gear : Solid Snake. I believe these came out on the MSX or sumthin and only in Japan. I think this 'cause it would show Solid Snake in his first missions and what not and the characters in the game are really cool, i.e greyfox and big boss.

No, the whole theme of the game is to scare the living shit out of you and survive Scissorman using no weapons and a point-and-click method of moving and examining objects (using B-rated material.) The whole Nolan hitting on Jennifer is a completly different kind of creepy…the kind that results in someone going to jail for pedophila.
When games turn into movies, some turn out to okay and some… to be honest, are terrible. But if story is good and respects original, then why not? Anything goes. But even how good movie Zelda would make I wouldnâ€

A Silent Hill movie would be completely awesome. Actually, most survival-horror games would make good movies. I want to see one based off of Resident Evil Outbreak.
I think Metal Gear Solid is too much of an epic in its own right to get a decent movie. All of the games are like playable movies in their own right. Same with Final Fantasies.

Wow I am surprised no one has said this one yet. My dream movie would be to see Devil May Cry on the big screen as directed by John Woo. That would friggin rock, and I could see the guy from Farscape making a pretty awesome Dante cause he has that really cocky attitude and he still looks like he could kick a lot of ass, him or Brad Pitt but he might be getting a little old for the role and I don't know how he would look with hair that long.
Word from IGN is that they're filming Mortal Kombat III. Fuck. The 2nd one was horrible. Among the worst movies I've seen. Now this. Gahh.

Actually recently Daisy has been considered Luigi's version of Peach so that's actually correct (though happen about ten years earlier than in the games). Besides, I personally think Luigi deserves to get one up on Mario (I prefer Luigi to Mario).
Quite frankly I can only really think of Metal Gear Solid and possibly Onimusha working as films (thought it may be a bit cliche). LoZ is debatable as it has some very cliche elements in it. Devil may Cry did cross my mind but again it has some cliche elements (going by what I've seen in 1 and 3. Never played 2).

Either of the Fatal Frame movies would be kickass movies, and like just about everyone else, i'd love to see Snake up on the big screen.
I'd say Soul Calibur, especially number 2, but…fighter games have the tendancy to make very bad movies.

I remeber that Mario movie, the only good thing about it was that Bob Hoskins actually looked like Mario. When I watched that Jet Li movie Unleashed and Bob Hoskins poppep up in it, I thought "Holy shit! There's Mario!!" John Leguazamo (sp) looked nothing like Luigi….period. And what the hell was the big deal about the Thwomp boots, Fungus, Bob-bombs with Reebok shoes on, Goombas that looked like the Ghoulies with down syndrome, and Dennis Hopper as Koopa. Strange place, this Hollywood, strange place indeed....
I must be the only one who liked that Mario movie. Save for that stupid ending (which I guess they thought were gonna get a sequel). I thought it was pretty imaginative with the whole dino world and mid evolution theme.

Um references to the game with some tounge in cheek humor added. 
Really though they tried to stay a bit true to the source (fantasy theme, the heroes being pumbers, power boots, mushrooms, overthrown kingdom, kidnapped princess, Yoshi, Mario facing Koopa….). And it was one of the first movies to play with digital effects. I mean c'mon, at the time they didn't have much to work with. It wasn't like Mortal Kombat which had a story in the game to back it up. They were going off a 2-D game where you basiclly just bop enemies on the head and go after Bowser. If anything it could've turn out like that Masters of the Universe film or worse.
I'll admit the designs for the koopas and the goomba could've had a little more thought put into them and they got a little cheap near the end of the climax (plus SNES super scopes for weapons? They must've been on a limited budget). And yeah I would've liked to see Mario get the girl rather then Luigi (well he did, just not a princess). But overall I thought it was a cool movie with some well thought out parts (the prison scene, the bit in the dance club, that sled escape from Koopa tower) and Dennis Hopper actully did a decent job with what he had to work with. Still thats just my opinion.

The only problem with turning video games into films is the expectations of fans.
When I saw resident evil was being made into a film I was dead chuffed, being a huge resident evil as I am. But when i saw the movie I was kinda disappionted as mainy porbably were like with the Final Fantasy film, WTF?!!. I think a reason for people to be disappionted with Video Game films is thefact that the film is much linear then games. Zelda and Resident Evil are so popular because of the puzzles and WTF do i do next factors, where as in films it's all
'there's a guy I gotta beat up, now onto the next(cue montage)'
Someone said earlier that with the mario bros. movie, the makers had very little to go on, which I agree with. Tens years ago, Mario and luigi were just 2D pixelated images, not like the water gun, cliff climbing 128 bit graphic concepts they are these days. Given, the goompas looked like they'd been dropped on their head at birth, repeatedly.
As much as I'd love to see the likes of the Metal Gear series, FF and Zelda, I know I'd just be disappionted

Meh. I think the only reason for that is because some of these movies only had the name to sell itself and didn't have any great actors/script/directing. Sorta like Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.

I did a report for spanish 2 years ago on John Leguizamo. I had a whole section bashing him about Luigi. My teacher gave me good marks for that. She hated that movie.

A warcraft movie made up of pre - rendered CGI shots… Blizzard makes bery good game cutscenes as it is now, just imagine if they were developing a movie under the same circumstances... Plus, the story would be epic, with a bunch of plot twists, warcraft style.
I'm not a fan of game-movies with live actors. Hell, I don't even like Clouds realistic looks in Advent children. Therefore, I would prefer animated flicks with the artstyle close to the original.
A Ratchet and Clank comedy/action movie headed by Imnsomnia would be a dream coming true. Imagine a 90-minute cutscene with action and interaction with the Q-force. Also, a Klonoa cartoon would be sweet.
