What's the criteria for best amv? I know it has to be made by a member but does it have to be OP related and is there a minimum time needed?Need to know this stuff before I start nominating people.

Nah, you guys are too fast. Hold on while I am thinking which piece of fanart I should nominate.
Benn Beckman holding Chrissie, Dervish whipping Crocodile, Enel riding a Drake Dinosaur with Makino, Batman Rayleigh, Makino forcing Wb to wash dishes, or Fake Zoro's pride. -
@Aegir:
Hate to take your nomination…..but I'm going to nominate this.
It was awesome.

Made by a member this year, doesn't need to OP related.

Can we nominate someone's avatar in as Best if they aren't currently using it?
-
Can we nominate someone's avatar in as Best if they aren't currently using it?
It'd be better if it were a current avatar, but yes. So long as it was used within the past year, it would count.
For the record, that also means date of creation is irrelevant so long as it was used within the necessary time frame on this forum. If somebody started using an avatar a couple of years ago and still does, that's fine.
-
Once and for all, since I've seen several people try, is it ok to nominate yourself?
-
@Usopp:
Oh cool, I caught this just in time.
I'd like to nominate myself for Best Cosplayer Male Division.
For those who are skeptical, here are a few of my best works from 2009 and 2010…
! "Hiruko Puppet" Sasori from Naruto Shippuden
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/Roger_Smith/Cospaly/AWA/IMG_0119.jpg
! True Sasori with the Third Kazekage from Naruto Shippuden
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/Roger_Smith/EXP2010121.jpg
! Indiana Jones from Raiders of the Lost Ark
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/Roger_Smith/Cospaly/Mini-Megacon09030.jpg
! Zirconia from Sailor Moon SuperS
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v474/pikabellechu/Megacon2010/Megacon2010127.jpg
! Highschool Gohan from Dragonball Z
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v474/pikabellechu/AnimeExpress/AnimeExpressXI005.jpgIf there's anything against self-nomination, then I'd nominate you.
though I'm torn between CoralSnake and MoonNeko.
Both have done epic cosplays ;D
the admirals, Papabeard, Roger…
fffffff
I'd nominate both if I could for Best Female Cosplayer ;D -
Shit, I don't even remember last year.
How the hell did I get a nomination for "most memorable"?
-
@I:

Well, I think it's less to do with whether we can and whether we should.
I mean, the notion of getting nominated by the community feels 100x better than nominating yourself.
You already know you're pretty awesome. Needing an award to tell yourself that is well… petty. I mean, it's nice to win and all, but... I hope my message is getting through. I'm no good with words XD
-
@Usopp:
For the 2009 awards, the rule was you can only nominate yourself for one catergory, which is what I'm doing now. But this time, I see nothing at all regaurding self-nomination in the rules. Still, I saved my one self-nomination for this specific catergory, and I'm going to keep it that way. I'm a good cosplayer, and I deserve a spot in the top 10.
I'm not sure if you wrote this because I asked the question in the discussion thread, but for clarification, it has come up several times previous to this, always followed by another third party nomination, so it wasn't clear which nomination prevailed, and since I'm new this year, I wanted to know what the rule actually was.
FTR, I agree with you that your work deserves recognition.

KI you are, as always, adorable, lol. Thank you for answering.
-
Depends.
To outright nominate oneself is the indication of one's confidence and straightforwardness. Not insecurity.
The Dude is an example. He nominated himself and his own work 3 times. He's awesome. And he probably doesn't even care what you would think about it.Too carefully considering about nominating yourself is insecurity. And perhaps petty, in some cases.

LOL I certainly never meant to suggest otherwise, and I'm sure KI didn't either–though I'll leave it to him to struggle to explain more if he so desires.
To be absolutely clear--I asked my question because some good people nominated themselves, and if it wasn't gonna stick I wanted to make it official by nominating them myself. I sorta wish I hadn't asked, or that I explained myself at that time, since in hindsight I see it looks as if I'm calling people out for doing it, which is not the case. Digging the hole any deeper is not how I wish to begin 2011, so I'm hoping this is cleared up.
-
No worry. My post was directed not to you, but to Kitty's "we should/we could", who expressed "trouble" with self-nominations. Or rather, a general statement.

I should at least get some kind of honorary award for "Most Perverted" seeing as all the double-teaming I do to Manny-boy. Is guy on guy not good enough for you, AP? You want my freaking soul too?
Never should have spent money on this shit.
-
someone PM me once you guys reach the naruto and bleach worst moments nominations, peas and carrots.
-
@I:

It's tremendously gauche and I'd rather people not make it a habit (or do it at all to be honest), but yeah, it's fine. Too many times though and it violates the circlejerkery clause. A small circle is a circle nonetheless.

No no, you're cool. I saw what you put in the other thread, and it's fine. My words were directed towards zachri due to his/her snarky comment.

Luffy's Nakama finally got that drawing "Straw Hat Christmas" colored, and it looks awesome. I'm so darned proud I'm posting this here, though I understand that it's too late in it's colored form to be used as the piece nominated instead of the orginal drawing. (Unless the judges rule otherwise, because it was started in 2010? LOL)
-
Nomination can be declined and replaced. Like e1n's case.

What does Thomas the engine do in that pic ?:blink:
!

@Don:

LOL–it does look like Thomas doesn't it? I imagine that was not consciously intentional, and was just her thinking toys and Christmas go together, but she may have Thomas on her brain whenever she thinks of toy trains, because her little brother has been a HUGE Thomas fan for years, lol. He has one of the most extensive collections I've ever seen, mostly due to the fact that it was all he ever wanted at every gift giving occasion from anyone who asked for years.
**@Darkstorm–**Thank you. That was very kind.

Looking at the nomination thread, Ugly nominated somebody that was ineligible, it got deleted by Robby, and they promptly nominated the same person again. No surprise what happened then.
-
i see, thanks for clearing up my confusion.

Here is my top 10 TV shows that should be nominated (in no particular order)
1. Dexter
2. Mad Men
3. Breaking bad
4. Fringe
5. Community
6. Modern Family
7. The Walking Dead
8. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
9. Lost
10. The Vampire DiariesParks and Recreation and 24 are good too.
And the worst:
1. FlashForward
2. 2.5 Men
3. The Big Bang Theory
4-7. Animation Domination
8. Outsourced
9. Undercovers
10. **** My Dad SaysThen there's the endless amount of procedurals and reality TV that also deserves to be nominated for worst but those shows are just extremely boring and vanilla and not downright awful.
-
Good picks for the top 10 shows, Kaiolino.
But, you're not an Office fan anymore?
-
It's still enjoyable, but I wouldn't put it on a top 10 list anymore these days. It's somewhere in the middle together with Glee and Supernatural where I can love one episode and despise the one after.
I still consider season 2 and 3 fantastic television.
Also, I should mention Chuck as another show that just didn't make the cut for me in the top 10.

Fair enough.
I was curious to see how you viewed it these days, seeing as how it wasn't on your top 10 or worst 10.
By the way, awesome sig.
-
I just hope to see atleast one between Torchwood, True Blood, Glee, Doctor Who and Sherlock nominated.
