A question about the Shonen Jump magazine

Well, maybe this should be in the Other Manga/Anime section. But depending on what answer I will get I might ask a second One Piece specific question so thatÂ´s why IÂ´ve decided to start the thread in this forum.

To get to the point, after seeing the LQ scans of the most recent couple of One Piece chapters I had the strange impression that the size of the pages is not what I expected them to be.
Actually I always thought that the chapters in the Shonen Jump magazine have the same size as the chapters in the mangaÂ´s which would be half the size of a normal sized piece of paper (over here the manga size is A5 and the regular pieceÂ´s of paper are A4, but since this norm varies internationally you all probably have no clue what IÂ´m talking about).

Well anyways, to get back to the point. I thought that the Shonen Jump chapter pages were as small sized as in a manga volume. But after IÂ´ve seen the LQÂ´s it looked to me as if the pages in the magazine are bigger as in the mangaÂ´s.
So since IÂ´m quite confused about this at the moment I would really appreciate it if somebody could tell me whether there truly is a difference in page size between a chapter that appears in SH magazine and a manga volume or not.

IÂ´m sorry if that might be a stupid question and this should be common knowledge but I really have zero background on that, so IÂ´d appreciate any info. Thanks in advance. :embar:

BTW, I tried the search option but there were so many threads that popped up and none I checked had any info about what I wanted to know, so if this has truly been discussed before I apologize to have started a new thread on it, but I really couldnÂ´t find another thread about it here.

Yeah, the pages in the U.S. Jump are bigger than the pages in a manga volume.

yep pretty much an manga page is bigger in the magazine but the Manga Volume is better paper and you could put it in your pocket.

For want I remember the magazines are normal magazine type size (bigger then manga volumes)

But like Borlz said the manga volumes have better quality

I actually have both a ruler and an issue of Weekly Jump right next to me so… 180mm wide x 258mm tall. A bit bigger than an American comic but a bit smaller than a magazine. Thicker than both of course, about 30mm thick and just under 500 pages poor quality coloured newsprint for 240Â¥

Moved the thread. Yea, I've seen the magazines in Kinokuniya before and they are kinda much larger than the tank versions.

Thanks for the info guys. I just that there was something strange about the size of the chapters after looking at the most recent LQÂ´s.

Well now to the next question. Since I have almost zero information on it, can somebody please tell me what size the pages in One Piece: The first Log have? Are they manga size or magazine size?

And just another question that came up after reading the replies. There is an US version of that magazine? DidnÂ´t know that. But I guess that they are far behind with the japanese magazine right? Or else there would be much more One Piece manga volumes released in the States, or am I completely misinterpreting things?

Same size as Japanese Shounen Jump. I think they are B5 size.

So the First Log size is bigger then the manga size? Great now all I have to do is find a way to get my hands on the First Log. Any info on where I can get it? :embar:

Thanks for the links igalsfy and oceanizer. They will definitely come in handy when I buy the original manga.

However it appears that none of these siteÂ´s has the First Log listed. I wonder why that might be. I thought it was out already, or did I misunderstand that?

Maybe they don't sell it any more because it's considered a seasonal magazine?

Amazon, for one, never listed it to begin with, I think. And like you said, that was probably because it was a magazine-type release and not a book. If those other sites don't list it either, the chances are high that could be the reason there, too.
