Hey everyone, I decided to take a break after 72 hours or so of studying and leave you guys with some information about what we plan to do over the next month and in Season Four of the podcast, which starts in January 2011:
As you may have heard, the podcast will be going through some major changes and be holding some major events over the next few months.
Special Events
First, I want to take this moment to announce that we will be at Kinokuniya's "Anime and Manga Day" near Bryant Park in New York City on December 12th. Make sure to come if you live in the Tri-State area.
This January we are honored to be guests on J. Michael Tatum, Terri Doty, and Stephen Hoff's "That Anime Show" in Texas. For those who haven't checked the show out, make sure to give it a listen. While in Texas we will be getting a treasure trove of videos, podcast episodes, and more from our friends at FUNimation and catching up on everything we missed during the break.
I also want to take this opportunity to announce that Greg will be returning to Jump Festa 2011, thanks to all of your wonderful donations, and reporting on the December event for us on the finale of our "Interview Jr. Saga" on December 22nd. As you may know, Japan's Jump Festa hosts "One Piece" creator Eichiiro Oda as well as all the Strawhat seiyuu.
Season Four Changes
Much like the changes "One Piece" had in its fourth season, we will be changing, for the better, starting this January. You may know that we are currently running a survey (with prizes) to decide on exactly what changes to make in Season Four. We have already gotten far over 200 responses in just a few days, so I think I will be putting some of the big podcast changes in more perspective. Here's what we WILL do and what we MAY do:
197 of you (93%) who voted on our website voted "Yes" on moving the podcasts to Monday. This will be a change we will officially be making as of January 3rd. Greg will be joining us weekly starting in the second week of podcasts.
With regards to the News segment, it's so far a split decision: 39% of you wanted it changed, 60% did not want it changed. Here's what we're going to do: we're going to have quick news segments on weeks where the news is sparse, but continue our normal news segments where the news is important. When it comes to ratings news, I still feel that they're important to announce, but we're going to run through them quick and without chit-chat.
When it comes to the Anime Recap, we're going to continue doing them in "Commentary Style" (as 62% have voted for), but for slow/uneventful episodes we will do them "Recap Style." We will be doing an Anime Recap Marathon in early January to catch up on what we missed in December. Those will all be commentary-style, and we hope you watch the episodes with us on OnePieceOfficial.com!
Finally, the big question is: should we go to once a week or keep it at twice a week. You were literally divided in half at 48% saying once a week and 51% of you saying twice a week. Here's what I'm planning to do, barring a major change in votes: we will have one episode a week with a Manga Recap, Anime Recap, News, Piece Together (the normal stuff). If it's a big week, we will have a second episode, probably heavily focused on Piece Together and those will probably be on Friday or Thursday. If we also have a specific topic (Piece by Piece, Reviews, After Darks, Special or other segments) we will have a second episode that week as well. Basically, count on one episode a week, but don't be surprised if there are two!
So, to sum it up, here's our schedule through our first week in January:
Friday, December 10th: 147 - Patrick Seitz Interview, Chapter 607 Manga Recap
Friday, December 17th: 148 - Chris Sabat Interview, Chapter 608 Manga Recap
Tuesday, December 22nd: Special 7 - Greg's Jump Festa 2011
Friday, December 24th: 149 - Brina Palencia Interview, Chapter 609 Manga Recap
Monday, January 3rd: SEASON PREMIERE!
Woo! Hope you had a chance to read through all of that. Now I'm going to head back to reading another 600 or so pages and let you all get back to enjoying the show we all love so much (HINT: it doesn't have Ostrich Ninjas).
We are Maji!
