Would DQVIII work on the 3DS? I'm not sure it would fit on or not. Would rather see it upgraded than downgraded for those two anyways
Human Revolution was way overrated imo. Just couldn't get into it at all.

La-Mulana is on sale on Playism until tommorow.

Pay anything over $1, and you get the full game. Pay a little more and you get other little extras. More specifically, most of the discs on the soundtrack.

Bought it. If it comes out on Steam then I'll probably buy it there again (depending on the price, though it can't be that expensive). Curious about this game~

I don't see why it wouldn't. Besides the 3DS could always use more RPGS given all the ones on or coming to Vita. @Cyber-Robin:

I don't know how the game would be downgraded on the Vita at least if we're talking graphics though if they went with an SD style for a potential 3DS port I'd actually like that.
looks at Assassin's Creed Liberation with it's drunken textures, constant loading and pretty damn restrictiveness
looks at Assassin's Creed 3
Yeaaaaaah. That was pretty much a downgrade. COD Vita too. Although that ones makes sense since it seemed to be more of a cash grab at a franchise

The entire Megami Tensei metafranchise is almost entirely going to be released on 3DS, where only Persona 4 gets an enhanced Vita remake so thats something.

Persona 4 Golden has already proven that PS2 games can be overhauled entirely for the better though. It's one thing for PS3-to-Vita lazy cashins and another for PS2-to-Vita upgrades, they're very different things. In fact DQVIII would not at all in any way be a downgrade, in any way, if it's not done badly, which I cannot imagine SE would do?
Like P4G has better graphics and the visual design is enhanced in a lot of places, it has more content than ever, the systems are all upgraded… A non-lazy version of Dragon Quest VIII could easily be this good so I'd totally welcome it.
3DS? Yeah it might be a "downgrade" of sorts, probably only visually, if it was re-released or remade on it. I haven't played a 3DS game in a while so I forget what the graphics are, they might be capable of PS2 stuff easily for all I know. In fact I'm willing to bet it totally can. But Vita? Hell nah, no way I know for sure it can do it. I think the vita is a better home for PS2 remakes than PS3 ones, if only because it would bridge the gap between the expected quality of the product.
Another quick point for P4G: you could barely notice load times. I've seen quite a few other PS1/PS2 ports that ended up with equal or worse load times to the original.

You are the epitome of awesome Nolus :3
And also, if it does come out on Steam, Playism is willing to give out keys to those that already bought it in their client.

While the DS rarely stretched itself, and tended to go towards the overhead camera- chibi style end of the design scale on all of its rpgs… it was capable of low-end PS2 graphics when it tried, (Like with okami-den... which had trouble with map size, but emulated the look pretty well) and the 3DS is far stronger, and actually built towards running... 3D models! It should be able to handle 9 year old PS2 games without much trouble.
The Vita is a PS3, basically, it wouldn't have any problems with a PS2 game.
Assuming it was properly ported, obviously.
I think he means from a size perspective(since PS2 DVD's can hold up to 4.7GB or 8.5GB if they use dual layer). I just checked my copy and DQVIII was 3.8GB, so it'd be fine from that perspective as well. I suspect with modern compression techniques any single layer PS2 game will fit on the current maximum sized 3DS card(4GB).
They're supposed to be making 8GB cards at some point though, at which point anything's fair game

It wouldn't stay the same size anyway not only because of compression but since the screen is way smaller things like texture size would decrease in size as well, as far as I understand the porting process.
Yeah, there's a drop from 640x480 to 400x240.

Declassified probably wouldn't have sucked so much if it had been developed by a team who's release history doesn't consist of mostly mediorce games. Its essentially the same problem Activision is having with the Bond license.
I don't see much coming of it but… goddamn is that one sexy thing: http://kotaku.com/5973641/nvidia-out-of-nowhere-announces-a-new-gaming-handheld
I like the idea of being able to play PC games on handheld. But dunno if it'll work for the PC games I actually do play.
When I first saw it I thought immediately of the N-Gage.

I'm glad I am not the only one who got N-Gage vibes from it lol. Still as out of left field as the new Nvidia handheld is I am definitely interested in seeing how this turns out, especially if it does indeed have access to your Steam account that eliminates quite a few issues newcomers tangle with like having killer-app games that would make people want to buy it. I think I'd grab one depending on the price.
Though I wonder what this could mean for the future of the upcoming Ouya.

Well depends, for me I feel like most of the games I make a point of playing on the pc I play specifically for mouse controls.
But then a handheld with the steam store would be kind of interesting because a lot of cheaper steam games aren't necessarily mouse dependant.
I'd imagine the number one use for this would be snes/psx/N64 emulation

Looks ugly as sin from my perspective. Like a knock off xbox pad with a lcd screen taped to it.
They should have gone the same route as the Pandora, but a bit larger and beefier.
Also, a heatsink?
Seriously?
I truly hope that big, bulky pokey looking thing is a prototype model since it's definitely NOT sexy.

Declassified's dev time was five months. That's it.
Don't know if Sony or Activision was to blame on this, but either way, it did no one any good.

Some of us find big, bulky pokey looking things sexy. : (
… wait, I just read what I posted just now...
It's true… Kotaku is garbage, so the guy's right about that.
Normally I'm an advocate of read what you want but be smart about the information you take away, but things like this make it really hard not to be a little condemning of anyone that loves kotaku…
Edit: Even worse some of the forum comments... seriously anyone that thinks that kamiya did overreact lacks a damn big dose of reading comprehension and empathy, the dude was just tired of the bs comments and just decided to end it with what people were already putting in his mouth...
that was kinda uncalled for though.

that was kinda uncalled for though.
Nope it's not, I very much doubt that these tweets are from the very beginning.
As outsiders we can stand on a podestal demanding people to be the better persons(and it's not like he is in a position that obligates him to be a better person) but seriously I can feel the guy. People just mishandling what you say and that are not giving it a rest can be very upsetting. And then there are the people that don't have the braincells to compute how very much miscontrued the information they got from another source about you was, the very reason why it's that upsetting.
Not to mention the whole gaijin(yeah because those people feel so much better equipped to comment on the issue by saying this instead of foreigner) bullshit is really infuriating. So I don't know demanding courtesy in this case scenario on his own twitter after the things he had to put up with is not something anyone can be entitled to.
At the end of the day the only thing that was uncalled for is kotaku's article and it's not the first time something stupid like this happened.
They're bad and really people should stop paying them any credence.
Seriously even though his english is rather a bit broken(if that was intentional due the twitter character limit I don't know) but even I can still understand that all he said is he is uninformed about valve and he has no interest in pc gaming what the hell is there to write about.
All the decent folks for Kotaku left for Polygon–which has so far avoided the sensationalism of most video game websites--leaving a bunch of trolls behind. I originally thought Totilo taking over would be a good thing, but he's basically led the way to a new era of smugness and manufactured controversies.
I don't get the Kotaku hate. Kamiya is at fault here, he's acting like a 12-year old. Yes, it was sensationalism on Kotaku's part, but Kamiya probably is clueless.
It was careless journalism designed for hits/controversy rather than any information. Kamiya made a simple twitter reply to a question and it was turned into an entire story on how Japanese developers don't understand the West and how Kamiya was "clueless."
The Twitter Revolution in "journalism" has been terrible. So many inane/off-the-cuff remarks are being turned into news, especially in sports.
I don't get the Kotaku hate. Kamiya is at fault here, he's acting like a 12-year old. Yes, it was sensationalism on Kotaku's part, but Kamiya probably is clueless.
What's there not to get and how is he at fault?
Sure could he have handled it better(very much only regarding all the tweets not related to kotaku) and basically make him stand out even better, yeah.
Is it reasonable for him to not get upset after having to put up with all the shit that spawned out of kotaku twisting what he said? No it isn't. And I'm saying this as someone who very much most of the time tries to not go towards blatant insults when dealing with obnoxiousness, but it's his twitter, something a bit of a more personal space than something like a forum.
When you have so many ignorant people spawned by a stupid article that you already called out on come at you, well yeah…
So what you call 12 year old I call rather human, I feel many people do not realise that the kind of stress you have to deal with from getting shit from public networks from the masses is its very own beast.
And the hell, stop being clueless about what he actually said, that he isn't interested in pc gaming and doesn't know about valve does not equal being clueless(well at least when clueless means still the same thing when I learned it back 7 years ago) about the entire pc gaming landscape.
He is simply uninformed(which I believe is different from clueless be it the regarding tone of politeness or the degree of lack of knowledge of something) about those two areas and if you look at what games are in his repertoir it's easy to see that pc gaming is not really relevant to his work. The kind of games are not inherently suited to what pc gaming shines at.
Seriously that's exactly the shit why he has every right to be upset.
That all said I feel like everyone that has opened themselves up to the public in our current social net enviroment being in a position of attention is better of learning a few things from public relations. As much as many people think that twitter is a good place for your own uncensored voice, it's evidently not.
Also people don't call that stuff journalism that's kind of an insult to the field.
Heck, on a side note most of what gaming sites publish does not relate to any form of journalism just in general.
PS: Also the kotaku hate is very much built by years of bad articles so this one is just another good example of their badness.
What is this whole thing about?
What is this whole thing about?
Random gamer tweeted Kamiya asking his opinion on Valve and PC gaming in general (no doubt in reference to the Steam Box). Kamiya replied that he had no interest in PC gaming. Kotaku made an article of it calling his lack of interest as "clueless" and how that's pretty much the case in all of Japan. Kamiya blew up on twitter telling them to "eat shit" and, when triggered by another twitter response, even called them "stupid fucking foreigners."
Regarding the 'Steam Box', it will supposedly be based on the hardware maker in question's 1000$ computer model. Although, it is still too early to guess after taking into account downgrading and Moore's Law.
I have to admit, I have no idea who these guys are or even care.
But that "Do you eat shit?" responce was just golden.
Edit: Did some research and realised who this is. Now this is even more valuable than gold.
I don't get the Kotaku hate. Kamiya is at fault here, he's acting like a 12-year old. Yes, it was sensationalism on Kotaku's part, but Kamiya probably is clueless.
Kamiya also had to deal with a shitload of people running to his twitter to insult him and his opinions entirely from that article Kotaku wrote, which is before he blew up and told Kotaku to eat shit (which was the best part, although going YES I SURE AM THE KING OF JAPAN THANK YOU was also a great response)
This isn't the first and last time something like this has happened with him, since he's very open on his twitter about his beliefs, but I love this man, his games, and greatly respect his ideology in making things, so I am basically behind him and his hilarious to watch shitdowns of stuff like that Kotaku article.
I don't get the Kotaku hate. Kamiya is at fault here, he's acting like a 12-year old. Yes, it was sensationalism on Kotaku's part, but Kamiya probably is clueless.
I don't get how people still take Kotaku seriously. Did folks just forget about their whole shenanigans with FF13-verses?
I hope this ends up with Kamiya making games for Steam Box
I like Kamiya, dislike steam and hate kotaku so this works for me.

Netflix is going to start streaming Adult Swim and Cartoon Network shows
Nice, tho Johnny Bravo is kinda an odd pick considering the rest of the batch is new stuff.

I'm pretty sure there will be more than just the ones shown. There is no way the would leave out The Powerpuff Girls, Ed, Edd, n Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Dexter's Lab, Cow and Chicken, or any of the other classic CN shows.
Feels nostalgic for MegaMan Legends series and checks ebay out of curiosity
Huh. I wonder how much Misadventures of Tron Bonne goes for?
 $122 bidding with 4 days left still!?
there was a tron bonne game? wow she was popular
Yeah. Being included in the Marvel vs Capcom games(and a couple of others), she was probably the fan favorite from the series.
