This has been bugging me for a while, but why is Whitebeard called Whitebeard when he only has a mustache?
White Mustache

I think his name in Japanese literally means "White Mustache," but we just know him as Whitebeard. Because….you know, White Mustache is a severely crappy name.
-
yeah, or maybe he had a beard back in the day or something.
-
Just looked it up. The Japanese word "hige" can also mean beard mustache or whiskers.
Kinda the same thing for OP's Blackbeard, because that's hardly a beard he's got there, and Black Whiskers just doesn't cut it.
-
Heh, yeh Blackbeard's facial hair, resembles more of a 5 o'clock shadow, then an actual beard.

its to confues people they will be runing around looking for someone with a beard and he doesnt have one
