One Piece re-scanlation project by Nep Ece and OnePiecefag

Hello, I'm OnePiecefag.

To sum things up, I've always found the early scanlations of One Piece to be a let-down and that the series deserves better than that. As such, me and Nep Ece, translator and quality-checker extraordinaire, are rescanlating a whole bunch of it.

We started from volume 5, chapter 42 (Aosh have released passable scans up til here) and we're going to "fix" up until roughly volume 24, where Null's HQ scanlations start. We're done with volumes 6 to 9, which leaves 15 volumes. As we're aiming at keeping the pace of 1-2 volumes / month, this will be a pretty long journey.

Uh, that's pretty much it? I figured I'd drop by and make a post here on the AP forums as you guys are the demographic for this project, that is, One Piece fans.

Smoker has found good raws for the first volumes, building on that he released at least through volume 8.

I fully support this though many people before you have attempted this journey and probably gave up after a week. I agree you need to modify your image. Find some way to make me your boss would naturally be the first step.

Yeah, sure. We never intended to scan 30-39 anyhow, didn't realize they were bad too.

Yeah I noticed. The rise in file size made me think it's hq. But it's just bigger pictures without cleaning. So I deleted my message. Too slow I guess. You had me quoted already

Definitely approve of this. Not only were the scans from about vol 2-25 extremely poor, the translations were almost just as bad, with that awful mermaid/fishman error in the Arlong arc. The rest was often just as half-cocked and lazy, including some engrishy translations (such as "Ruffy").

I've never reread the series because of that quality, but would gladly do it again with these releases. Great to see someone picking up the n-u-l-l torch regarding these old rereleases in HQ

Oh, awesome, I look forward to reading these scanlations. I could never really archive binge on the arcs that were already made into anime cause I couldn't find a good download (and reading in-browser was anything but tolerable.)

Also, I see nothing wrong with your handle. I'd most definitely consider myself an OPfag as well, along with, well, this entire forum, seeing as how it's a One Piece fansite lmao.

Btw, why you didn't translate summary pages? Not that I complain though.

Eh, I personally never read summary pages, they're mostly intended for people who might not have read up to that point and such. We consider them pretty much worthless to translate.

It's more about the consistency. Nice to know that you have the whole volume translated, including Oda notes, "this is a work of fiction" tag, and summary pages. Guess I'm just used to it from null scanlations, but if you consider them worthless so be it, keep up the good work.

I realize this is a huge necro, but these volumes are most if not all of the very few missing chapters from batoto, and I was wondering if anyone had links to them? The chapters available on other manga readers are all total shit quality by comparison.
