Shanks might die because of whitebeard….........hmmmmmmm
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...
Shanks and Mihawk Rivals/Sparring Buddies?!!!
-
-
Where was it said that whitebeard respects Shanks? I just remember reading that he said that he was to cocky and he still wasnt good enough to have personal messangers..
But he still probably is one of the strongest pirates out there, probably just a little bit weaker than whitebeard.
-
This again.
Okay, from the top.
Mihawk is a Suichibukai
Shanks is a Great Pirate*Great Pirates are stronger than Suichibukai**
Therefore,
Shanks is stronger than Mihawk.
- We don't know for sure if Shanks is a Great Pirate, only that Whitebeard is, and seems to talk about Shanks like he was an equal of some sort, and even the World Government fears him acting. All these things point to the conclusion that Shanks must also be a Great Pirate.
** The WG is afraid of Whitebeard who is a Great Pirate. Shanks and Whitebeard meeting is considered to be "too dangerous". Shanks blows off the threat of the WG, as if he can deal with it. A meeting between these two is seen to threaten the very order of the world. They are not afraid of Suichibukai, who they nominally control, and use them apparantly to keep the order.
Okay, from the top.
Mihawk is a Shichubukai*
Shanks is a Great Pirate*Now how the hell can you say that Great Pirates are stronger than the Shichibukai when the Shichibuaki are former great pirates that are now Shichibukai. (Only Great Pirate that is really stronger than everyone in the seas is Whitbeard himself Oda only labeled him as a great Pirate in the entire One Piece World.) :glare:
You also say that Shanks is stronger than Mihawk when it clearly states in Oda's data books that these two were rivals.
Quote: "At first, the left-handed Shanks had simply carried his sword on the right side. When he was a rival of Mihawk, he was regarded as having some of the world's top-class skills". As an addendum to that, Shanks carries a longsword.
So no Shanks is not stronger than Mihawk it is more like equals.
Shanks = Mihawk :sleep:GUTB, Mihawk was a rival to Red Haired Shanks. Whitebeard "the strongest man in the world" respects shanks, meaning either Shanks is close to Whitebeard in power or just in stature as a pirate. I think if Mihawk was a rival to Shanks and some fans consider him stronger than Shanks, If Shanks is near Whitebeard in power or stature the same thing can be said about Mihawk. Shanks is considered a large power in the seas, Mihawk was a rival to the Red haired Shanks. When you talk about Shanks in terms of power, you can not leave out Mihawk. The Shichibukai are great Pirates with Phenomenol power! Otherwise they would not be recognized by the government.
The government also commented only on the situation between Red hair and Whitbeard. The government also mentions nothing of fearing the Red hair pirates or Whitbeard. It merely was an issue that was brought up in an entirely different meeting. The five stars were trying to discuss "More Important Issues", which was finding a replacement for the Shichibukai.

**Phenominol please don't quote GUTB; Because even though I took him off by ignore list others havn't. It would be better not to reply to his posts because he thinks of himsef as god.
I do think that Mihawk and shanks are still equal. Losing an arm never depletes your skill, you just have to get a little used to it. If he is such a great warrior then losing an arm should do nothing to his power. If you look a it they sort of have a luffy-zoro relationship.

Thankyou Octogon for that information I really appreciate your insight.
That is a good analogy that Mihawk and Shanks have sort of a Luffy and Zoro relationship. Both Shanks and Mihawk have inspired two very important characters in One Piece (Luffy, Zoro). They both seem to be very key characters in the end of One Piece.
-
I think Shanks is as strong as Mihawk. Skill has nothing to do with how many arms you have, Hacchi (or whatever the octopus name) prove it. He has 6 arms but he defeated by Zoro.
-
I don't think that Mihawk has ever beaten Shanks in a fight, but that he is better with swords.
"I've given up a long time ago on trying to beat the one-armed man"
(something along those lines)

**I tkink it is either this or they were even. Mihawk is obviosly better with swords. But I do believe Shanks can hold his own against Hawk-eyes.
Also the way Mihawk speaks to shanks seems like he is trying to ovoid a fight.**
-
I think they are more likely a sparring buddies than a rivals, because i think they have a good relationship and respect each other. In a fight i think that Mihawk have a better swordmanship skill than Shank, because Mihawk travel around the sea without any crew, become a member of Shicibukai, and also very famous for his swordman ship and has the Invicible Swordman title. He isn't the strongest pirate, but i think he is the strongest swordman, even stronger than Shanks i think.(But in the future i believe that Zoro will defeat him ^^)

Here's something to think about:
Mihawk always wasn't the best, and neither was Shanks. SOMEONE had to train them to be the world's best swordsmen. Granted, neither of them were Samurai, but every student has a teacher. If Shanks and Mihawk had the same sensei, that would explain a lot of things. They're both young men in their late 30's, so it's entirely possible that a swordsman from Roger's crew was their sensei.
I don't think it was Roger himself… Roger was a huge man, and I get the impression that he fought with his bare fists, much like Luffy, rather than use a weapon.
That said, this could be the composition of the Oro Jackson:
Gol D. Roger: Captain
Crocus: Doctor (Crocus could have been lying about being with Laboon for 50 years)
Nico Olivia: Archaeologist
Unknown: Sharpshooter/First Mate
Shanks and Mihawk's Sensei: SwordsmanAmong others.
Losing a limb doesn't necessarily cripple you, you're right. One of the most legendary samurai ever, Yaguu Jubei, only had one eye.

We know that Mihawk is the best swordsman in the world. That's why Zoro wants to beat him. Also, Mihawk doesn't have a crew because part of becoming a Shichibukai means that you have to give up your crew.

Whenever that argument comes I feel the urgent need to add that this was never ever said anywhere in the story.
-
Wasn't bellamy sort of a part of Phlemingo's crew?

damn people who lie, I'm never taking anything anyone else says as fact anymore!

I wouldn´t call it a lie. It´s just being misinformed and spreading the word.

**I actually don't think Mihawk was ever a captian. He just doesn't strike me as the type of person who would command over people like a captian.
==========
I think it's pretty obvious Mihawk met with shanks quite a few times. As none of the main members of te crew . Yet many of the other crew members were scared to death. Suggesting that he doesn't make as may frequant visits as I origganlly thought. Or it could be that they would be scared regardless.
But that would be one hell of a match. If their captian is enoughf to defeat/dwar with Hawkeye Mihawk so many times that Mihawk himself gave he must be one hell of a powerful guy. And shanks can only be so much stronger than the other (main) members of his crew. Their strengh is just plain scary.**
