Aye,
on this day November 22, 1718 (292 years) Blackbeard was killed by british sailors off the coast of North Carolina.
Take a moment to remember the guy that served as an inspiration to the shaping of this series :)
I wish we knew alot more about him
RIP Edward Teach

-
He was one of the latest pirates. Captain Kidd was an extremely violent pirate.
Kidd in the manga was a violent pirate in the anime. Oda based quite a few pirates off of History.Do you enjoy cooking, Nate?
-
He was a bum.
I won't miss him.
-
so blackbeard and teach are the same guy.
I didn't know that.
-
They were the same person. The name Blackbeard was due to a newspaper publishing what happened. He had an extremely black beard. The newspaper eventually started calling him Blackbeard.
-
well, edward teach definitely contributed the edward in edward newgate as well as the teach in marshall d. teach and the character's alias, blackbeard.
the real blackbeard was a total dick. i read that he would hide explosives and weapons and all kinds of crap IN HIS BEARD.
I also read that it took a good number of shots/stab wounds to kill him…can anyone give the precise number?

Well he was quite tough indeed as he was cut twenty times and shot five times. According to (surprise!) Wikipedia.
Also don't forget that 4th Division Commander Thatch got his name from him as well.

Guys it was Blackbeard. A real pirate.
Say what you want about how we as a culture romanticized pirates as adventurers, but in reality, these guys were mass murderers, disgusting human beings, thieves, and rapists.
Not someone to remember fondly guys.
-
Here's how he was "honored"
Zehahahahaha

Don't forget Tatch.
And you want to know something interesting about Real Teach?? His pirate career as a famous and cruel pirate lasted 2 years. Coincidence??
