Once again, the point of this thread isn't about the music being good or bad (although decent taste does help), the point is whether the music fits with the material being presented.

No, I am not. I'm trying to understand were you guys are coming from but you're not meeting me halfway. From what I can gather you guys want the music to fit the mood of the anime and that is the wrong way to go about things. The song has to set the mood for the amv you're making.
For example: If you're trying to show the sadness and harshness of Robin's life then you want a slower, more melodic song.
If you want an AMV showing the comradarie of the Straw Hats then you want a more uplifting song.

I don't care about music? I've been into music since I was 10 since hearing DMX's "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot" tape (yes, TAPE). I listen to rap, rock, metal, blues, jazz, and instrumental music going back to the mid-sixties. My most listened to album on my Ipod is a mashup of Wu Tang and the Beatles. I don't even listen to the radio anymore because of the horrible rap, r and b, and rock that is constantly playing. Please don't insult me by saying I don't care about music.

Since we've finally moved into posting good AMVs to use as examples:
mXCvNtespzMThe video starts with a fast paced guitar solo, notice how it's not just "scenes playing while rock music is happening" that you see in so many videos. There's editing in there, it matches the beats of the music, and when it doesn't there's some simple effects happening to prevent things from getting dull. Once the real part of the video starts about 1:30 in, it should be self explanatory at that point.
