Yes, but it's not bad for a kid to watch anime?
Ughh..
It's not bad for anyone to watch anime, that's not what I said.
I meant;
You shouldn't call others "no-lives" when you yourself fit into that category based on your criteria.
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

I'm gonna move this back on topic.
It's simply a generational gap though I do agree with you OP. Earlier I wasn't really defending the rock of today as much as explaining why it's used by editors. Even so, posting a topic like this isn't gonna change the minds of One Piece editors and is just gonna open to door to flaming.
Back on topic.

The best amv ever. The melody hurts so much.
i think it should be ratified into U.S. law that making an amv with ANY linkin park song is illegal.
that peter gabriel/mononoke amv isn't all that great, either, though.
here's a good example of how to make a one piece amv:GNvaYEctCAs
suffice to say, if you've seen several amv's with the SAME SONG, just choose something else for your amv.
Say most people start watching OP 10 years ago. A 10 year old watches it, now he is 20.
He still enjoys it. It isn't a crime to enjoy something.
I've started one piece, when I was 22 years old. I am 27. OH GOD I HAVE NO LIFE!!! Snif sniff snif…
Oh, and your assessment of music is laughable. Go get an education please.
I'm going to neglect that current tears of attention for one second, although I am laughing quite hard at it.
@Holy:
Zephos I have a question, I'm confused about something
You mention buttrock is bad, but in this one song the singer talks about how he's walking away from his girl because he knows he's no good for her
This is a really great line and it's totally fitting because I have this one scene on my hard drive from One Piece where Zoro is walking away from Nami (my oTp!!) and I think if I do it in slow motion it'll be pretty cool
But none of the music you're talking about contains ANY lyrics that I can synchronize with on-screen visuals
I'm REALLY confused here
It's like you just described EVERYTHING I hate about AMVs, and about the #1 reason I have a hard time listening to "Malchik Gay".
"I changed the video to fit 'Malchik Gay' so that it made it seem like they are a gay couple."
shudder
And Ao Kiji, I enjoyed that AMV. Thank you for that.
No, Jerk should be shown as the douche he is in front of everybody. Has One Piece really thought you guys nothing? Sticking to your dream/goal? Don't give up? You think im about to stop because some guy is calling me annoying? or a "bad poster" oh my god.
Okay, I'm going to stop you there.
I'll admit that art is a valuable concept of life, and one can/should consider art to be a viable concept of pride and one's true dream and love in life.
AMVs are not that art style. Granted, it can be powerful. Someone talented enough could pull off something truly mind blowing, and show off their editting and musical synch skills. However, you did not create the anime, song, or animation.
Sure, you can argue and say, "But even the most trivial of activities aren't considered meaningless in One Piece".
I love One Piece…but...this is reality. I'm sorry but you ARE the one who needs to grow up, and that's not always a bad thing.
This thread could have been really interesting if its main purpose wasn't to flame amv makers. Also the overuse of buttock can be explained very easily. People made AMV to show the anime they watch is awesome, yes. But they mainly do it because they want people to watch what they did and tell they really did a great job.
And like it or not, the generic one piece fan is a 15 year old boy that mostly listen to buttrock and other mainstream artist, so I am not surprised amv makers' main target are those kind of people. Also, I am pretty sure that those amv you flamers are looking for exist, but it's not really easy to find like anything else that is good. I think the Pareto principle can also be used in this case.
Also, don't tell me you would be happy if people stop using buttrock and other shitty music for their amv. Don't y'all like thinking that you have better taste than the masses.
Wow, what an awesome meltdown.
This is great, this is what life is all about.
Also to Jerk, those songs you post suck. What he posted is good. Im right your wrong gtfo.
Iggy Pop is in his 60's, but he could still probably literally beat the shit out every member of Deftones. I mean he is ripped!
And that's aside from the fact that he could outrock them.
More side notes; I am enraged because you seem to think a music video means post slow, depressing, and lame song with a awesome anime. NO.. The only amv ill ever make slow is piano music, because i love piano music, starting with this song:
A song from Twilight.
A song from Twilight.
A song from Twilight.
Hahaha, oh wow. I laughed very hard
@JERK:

Wait, I thought some fans claimed or hoped that this song will be used for the films…
Oh yeah, leaving this:

Here's a classic AMV where the music and video perfectly compliment each other.

Okay….that was pretty good. Good timing. Good emotion. And possibly one of the first AMVs to use the audio of the anime, and actually do a good job with it.
Oh yeah, leaving this:

Well that was certainly sad.
The beginning was the highlight of it all IMO. Not bad at all.
It makes sense that people who make AMV's usually prefer to use music they listen to and like. And yes, most of it sucks, but most of anything on the internet sucks. If you try to create a dogma of what music is good and should or shouldn't be used, you open up a completly different can of worms, mostly because music in general has alot to do with personal taste.
Besides, I don't believe AMV culture in general is salvageable, its not really art, and it won't be run through a quality filter by time like books, music, movies…which means it will always remain a mirror of the present AMV crowd and their taste, so its pretty pointless to argue with them about it.
One other thing I can't stand about AMVs most people make these days
subs
Either find some raws, find a way to crop the subs out, or don't make an AMV at all. They are distracting and look like shit.
@VL7:

As we've discovered in this thread this isn't actually the case!
Also I made the point that liking music doesn't make that music fit One Piece. I listen to largely hip-hop, very very few of which would fit One Piece.

Do you seriously think I would be greatly challenged in arguing why buttrock sucks lol.

The last people to see the revolution are the lazy.
We will bury you.
I actually made a full One Piece Rap amv to a song that I hate…...........I'm a weird editor lol.

They're still using music they like, excuses about tempo and fitting lyrics be damned. And in their ignorance they also have a limited supply of songs and genre to choose from. Or did I miss someone using a song they dislike just because it fits in with scenes?
And while you like hip-hop, you probably don't dislike the genres that you think fit One Piece and do consider them good music?
@JERK:

No, I actually agree that it sucks, and you'd probably do a good job arguing it. But saying "stop enjoying this, enjoy this instead" is still a dogmatic attitude. I get it, you don't want to crawl through mountain of shit just to find something worth seeing, but thats how entertainment is, internet user generated entertainment even more so.
@JERK:

I think I'll shoot myself if AMV ever get considered to be artistically significant, so you can bury my corpse.
EDIT: Actually, I don't have a problem with your proposition in general, trying to raise the lowest common denominator of a culture is a fairly good idea. I just think AMV's don't deserve that kind of attention. They're cheap fun, some of them are better cheap fun than others, thats it.
They're still using music they like,
No they aren't.
Go read the thread, I made a big post about the AMV makers being different then kids who like buttrock.
And in their ignorance they also have a limited supply of songs and genre to choose from. Or did I miss someone using a song they dislike just because it fits in with scenes?
We just had someone admit to it.
And while you like hip-hop, you probably don't dislike the genres that you think fit One Piece and do consider them good music?
You're missing the point which is that there is no interest in music at all, the thread has violently changed course from the OP when the AMV makers attacked and revealed their true devious natures.
No, I actually agree that it sucks, and you'd probably do a good job arguing it. But saying "stop enjoying this, enjoy this instead" is still a dogmatic attitude.
You don't talk to me much do you.
Lemme help reiterate the point of this thread by shitting on your senses.
This vid has everything:
-'Hardcore' buttrock.
-Subs.
-Kickin' ending text (rawr!!!).
-Entirely made from anime filler.
-Relavent and thoughtful title.

[hide] The pause leading to the vocals at 00:35 with the filler ninja oddly walking on screen made me laugh for about a minute straight. [/hide]
Fuck it, i'll throw in another just for fun.
