@Supernova122:
There's more tolerance and understanding in the UK, and on the continent, than there was, say, 50 years ago.
And shouldn't they? It happens everywhere, no matter where national borders lie. London and the South of England compensate for the rest of the UK. States like Catalonia are weighed down by states like Andalusia; you can see the same in other European nations, with the wealthier Italian states in the north, and the wealthier German states in the south. Equally, the wealthy northern nations in the EU have to pull the weight of the southern and eastern nations, but it's in their best interests to do so.
this is my point, no country has any obligation to make itself more diverse or even carry the financial burden of taking on people around them, especially during an era when countries are on the brink of collapsing.
As for England, the north is still pretty mixed up. But as I said why would you even point the finger and act like its not stepping up to the plate because the south has a slightly higher ratio of ethnicities and whatnot.
@Monkey:
I'm gonna gander that Cyprus is probably way more in touch with it's roots then England for a variety of reasons, but even there what's really going on day to day is the same exact stuff that goes on the so called cultural black hole of the US/Canada/Australia. People buy manufactured junk food, work crappy 9 to 5 jobs, watch lots of the same movies, listen to lots of the same pop music, drive lots of the same cars etc etc. What people do on their sabbath might change up, but how immigration changes that I'm not sure (mostly because it doesn't).
Mostly differences that blew my mind were simple things, like bidets, plug designs, and driving etiquette (or complete lack thereof).
I just don't really buy the culture thing what so ever. Especially coming from a place like England lol.
What sacred cultural things are left there (or ever were?). Wearing party hats at Christmas or whatever that is you guys do? Making strange slow dance music?
Like the Cypriots were super big on going up to their villages for religious and family ceremonies they actually believe in. Pretty sure England doesn't do stuff like that lol.
first off let me stop you there before you carry on this charade that England has no culture before the wave of immigration in the Blair era. We have culture.
But what irks me most is you already are 100% sure of England when you've never really experienced it.
What lol, was it literally an inverse map of diversity and happiness?
Last I checked the most depressed parts of the world were Sub-Saharan Africa and Eastern Europe, now maybe the uber-poverty of the former, and the shambling gray crawl out of the Soviet era of the latter might have something to do with their lack of joy rather than darned immigrants (who is immigrating TO Africa?).
Seems like you never took Statistics in school!
i know it pains you to hear this but that is the reality of this situation. Look at the happiest countries and then look at how diverse they are.
You are too stubborn to even consider this, and moreso i feel bad breaking you on it. But your argument has always been about how diversity brings happiness and is the way to go for everyone…..yet you are wrong. Diversi brought on through a long period of time can work fine, but the moment you open the floodgates and make people feel they have no choice in the matter you open up tension and cause a solid divide between people.
So you guys are going through what us and the Canucks did already. Still people over here moan about aspects of it.
Not a fantasy fyi. Well I mean, it's not people holding hands, it's just people not giving a fuck.
and you act like that's just fine. You have to try and integrate them all into being one people, all different yes, but still without the barriers that you so calmly brush off.

Believe me I know, my English ethnic side is scantly together, barely has kids, quiet and even anti-social at times…
oh please do tell me of your roots. Lol
Maybe Smudge is afraid the influence of immigrants will make him feel bad about not calling his grandma on the phone lol.
oh and you can burn in hell for that one.
