I've been reading this for a while now, but I was very surprised when I realized there was no thread for it. This is my third favorite currently running manga behind OP and Beelzebub. Contrary to what the title may make you believe, this is a seinen, not a shoujo.

As for the series:

! It got a bit slow between arcs for a couple chapters, but the intensity is really starting to pick up again with the new chapter (111). If there's one flaw to the series at this point, it's lack of depth to the character pool which can make it feel a bit narrow at times. The author hasn't tried to handle too much at once, so far.
As for chapter 111:

! I'm really liking the cliffhanger. It's cool to see these rock/paper/scissors type abilities while maintaining a real world basis.

Things are starting to heat up again. I like the Mamoru flashback, the reason for the lost of his sight caught me off guard, for some reason I kept relating it with his previous master.

Good manga. Things kinda go story wise and chap release wise. So I'm not as engaged as when I read like 90 chaps straight.

This Aegis guy seems like a lame to me, not caring for his role at the moment. I'm waiting on Jesus. Also waiting on another worthy foe for Mamoru like Mr. Wiseman but who also actually fights.

! Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good direction for her development. I guess I got thrown off because up till then, I saw her actions as part of helping Mamoru because of their personal connection, rather than getting involved in grand schemes and plots. Just a personal perception thing, I suppose.

I should probably go catch up and see how she's been developing - I haven't been reading the past few chapters.

One of the best things about this series is Haruka NOT being a typical damsel in distress. She started weak but she's getting more useful every arc.

I don't think it blocked her precognition. The invisible guy just knew of her abilities and didn't plan on doing anything (like attacking) that would tip her off that he was there. That way there was nothing for her to see.

The last chapter ended with a sniper locked in on Mamorou's back. That should be where the injury came from, but we don't know whether it's a result of fighting or running.

Mamorou is always getting injured running and fighting with the enemy but I wish we could of seen how it happened this time. Besides that it was an ok chapter. Kinda slow compared the usual but next chapter should be good.

So volume 15 went up for sale a few days back, I think, which means we might be seeing volume scans pretty soon. Volume 15 apparently features 'BRIDE', which is weird, as that came out around chapter 100 or so. Anyway, volume 15 should contain chapters 115-121, which covers the missing 118-121 (Nihil has 122-124+), so perhaps within the next few weeks we'll see some UDDUP. No guaruntees, of course, but I thought I'd mention it.

Glad UDDP is back. Good chapter, but I can't help feeling I'm missing Easter eggs and other little things since I never read the author's other books.

Has anyone read the author's other series Jesus and Yami no Aegis? Are they worth a read?

I'm so happy to read UDDUP chapters again, but man is this arc confusing. There's so much going on and so many characters than I'm having difficulty telling who's on whose side, and it doesn't help that some of the translations seem a little bit funky. I think in the end I'm leaning towards this being one massive free-for-all, in which all the various groups are sort of enemies of each other. But they're also very cautious about when and how to move and have a lot of pride.

Even considering that approach, I still can't figure out who all the fodder guys belong to, since Mamoru took one out and others didn't know who the black unit even were. Maybe there's even more than one group of fodder. We have what, 4 groups that have been mentioned explicitly (Elements, Jesus, 24, and the Galboa Black Unit), and then there's Mamoru, who seems on the cusp of being enemies to any of them in addition to Galboa depending on how the plot turns. Elements vs Galboa and Jesus vs 24 seem to be at the forefront of the conflict, while Elements doesn't seem to be outwardly hostile with either Jesus or 24. Then there's been a mention of the head of "Dragon Gate" whom we haven't been formally introduced to (though he may have been drawn in the background), and we don't even know anything about the group to begin with. My guess is that it's the principal, but who knows. On top of it all there's this subplot going on with the GPS technology, Aegis, Genie, etc which is bound to tie in somehow.

All in all, the setting for this arc is very complex and difficult for me to get a good grasp on. And the uncertainty in translations only complicates things further. The only thing I'm fairly sure of is that the Galboa Black Unit are arrogant and want to take everyone else out to bolster their own reputation.

It seems like it's going to be a really cool arc, though.

It's not really like those series, so it's hard to say. The art is done in a more realistic style (and quite good). The setting is also real world modern Japan and based around warfare, and though it's exaggerated like all manga, it's more grounded in realism than most. About as much so as, say, the Bourne Identity. It also qualifies as a Seinen rather than a Shonen, but it's not over the top with gore/etc like some of them are (though not devoid of it, as it is a seinen).

I would recommend reading the first chapter or two. You'll get a pretty good indication from just them about whether you'll like the series in the long term or not, and they'll tell you more than I ever could. It doesn't require 50 chapters to get into or anything. If it's your type of manga, it's a pretty quick hook.

I didn't like this series initially. The characters were too bland and the story was pretty dull. But then it started to settle in and became really fun and awesome. Mamoru is one of the most badass mof ever and even the girl has become awesome, the setting has become really interesting delving into modern war-fare in a realistic and entertaining manner. Good series.

It didn't actually come off of hiatus. Rather the group who scanlates it couldn't get a hold of the raws. They wound up waiting for the volume to be released and now have a backlog of chapters to work on. That just occurred with 118.

The releases are actually bi-weekly, but they'll be more frequent than that for a little while as NSN catches up.

Well 119 was pretty cool and cleared some stuff up. Namely what "Dragon Gate" is, and the importance of this "Legacy of the King" that was casually mentioned earlier. It also helps to clear up the situation for me, with that doctor, Jesus, and Mamoru having an "enemy of the enemy is a friend" relationship. Even though Mamoru wasn't supposed to treat Night's Gaunt/24 as enemies and just make sure the conflict doesn't get out of hand, that's a level of restraint he just doesn't have. I think I've also figured out that most of those fodder guys are part of Night's Gaunt. I already knew the Black Unit came for Mamoru and wanted to take out everyone to increase their rep. It's interesting that they're willing to play by the rules for now to avoid unnecessary public hassle.

Phew. This legacy thing is still a mystery and a wild card. But at least the overall setup seems more clear to me now.

I'm pretty curious about what this N'sinh guy's weapon is. At first I thought it might be some type of string/wire, but that's something that they should have noticed. So I'm totally clueless. And the chapter ends with one of the 24 snipers on the ropes. All in all this seems to be a pretty intense arc.

And I love how that big dude was spilling blood everywhere but no student even noticed it, or he managed to not get any on the floors somehow. Maybe he did a quick cleanup before he left. Always leave the battleground the way you found it.

This small dude is really interesting. The fact that he came away from Mamoru completely unscathed and was about to win against another elite fighter, no problem, makes me wonder if all the Black Unit is this skilled. It's his weapon that's giving him this advantage but it's also because he's obviously really skilled. Hell, the entire Black Unit is on a whole different level than what we've seen before. I can't wait to see Jesus get into the fray and the leader of "Dragon Gate". See how their skills compare against the members of Black Unit.

Mamoru is already injured so he'll be fighting handicapped from now on, but that's not unusual. Isn't Anna Riddle apart of 24? As well as Aegis?

Oh, and I'm guessing the secret to the weapon is something invisible or extremely near invisibility because it could not be "visually" identified. Not even by Momoru who could see the "invisible man". Maybe they're compressed wind slices that shoot out from the knife.

I admit I did get the idea from Naruto but that's all I've got.

I know most of the group didn't know why they were going after a little girl or why she was worth so much money but I thought at least the leader knew she was a precog. With that said I'm proud of Tooyama. She's getting really good at making use of her ability. I guess when you train against a wild bear you're ready for most situations.
