So, quick question. Is there a solution for playing Wii games on the Wii U that use the Gamecube controller? Like, does the Wii U Gamepad or Pro Controller have pre-made maps for GCN Buttons? What happens if I try to play Smash Bros. Brawl with a Pro controller?

I believe they said Wii U's gamepad will not support any Wii games so for a game that uses the Gamecube controller, you'll be forced to go Wiimote sideways, with the chuck or witn the classic controller(I have no clue if Wii U Pro controller will support Wii games but I'm guessing it's the situation as the Gamepad.)
-
Since this was a BIG thing for some people I'll point it out. Apparently Nintendo CAN transfer your account from one console to another.
So the big problem people had with their console breaking/getting stolen is now a moot point.
-
No Wii U classic controller pro for Wii games that use GameCube controllers. Wow… There has got to be a way to add N64 and SNES functions or games to that last statement.

Can't you use the Classic Controller for the Wii for these games anyways? For some reason I thought you could with Brawl.
In other news. My Wii U got dispatched so should be here earlier tomorrow. So yay. No dispatch for Tekken yet tho :/
AAAAND remember yesterday that Best Buy advertised Wii Mini? Well today they're apparently advertising Yoshi Land to be released at the end of the year. Kinda has my hopes up now.
-
mines been dispatched as well but i don't know how to track it. And a wii classic controller does work for wii games like brawl so just use one of those for gamecube wii games
-
is it with TNT? Their tracking is really bad. Go to their website, put in the tracking number then select customer number. If it's like mine it just says to phone them so
Edit: I phoned them and they said it was picked up yesterday and was supposed to go out today but it's not at the delivery office 0.o Very strange
Edit: Ah, they phoned me back and confirmed tomorrow. Between 8am and 6pm. Considering in the past I've gotten stuff at 5:50pm from them I'm expecting that
-
fair enough. Mine's not on tracking so i havn't bothered. Just gonna expect it tomorrow

I don't have a huge problem with using the Classic Controller Pro for games like Brawl or others. It's fairly easy to get used to.
-
got mine today along with all the orders. Except Tekken since amazon is being lame and not bothering to dispatch (it's been processing since monday and readying for dispatch since yesterday.) now to wait for the update to do. Looks like i'm a 10th of the way through after 5 mins so shouldn't be too long….I hope

played nintendoland and i really like it. Went to play nsmbu but accidently activated the update before it was fully downloaded so know i'm waiting…

So a hacker that has some supposed credibility under his belt has revealed that the Wii U's GPU and CPU specs. While the GPU is around the same speed as the PS3, the CPU is half the speed of the PS3's at 1.24GHz.
The GPU takes some of the workload off of the CPU by being a GPGPU while the CPU seems to run for mostly the OS and Wii games. Here's a qoute from the hacker himself.“So yes, the Wii U CPU is nothing to write home about, but don’t compare it clock per clock with a 360 and claim it’s much worse. It isn’t. ” Others in the comment section explain much more thoroughly than me so here: http://mynintendonews.com/2012/11/29/hacker-publishes-wii-u-cpu-and-gpu-specs/
-
It's not much worse, but I don't know much about it, but having a lower clock speed makes me believe that it is worse, even if not much so. So starting with the WiiU we have the opposite of this gen, a strong GPU but weaker CPU. I'm interested in just what the WiiU is capable of, but we'll have to get past the ports we're getting now to see, if anyone ever bothers to take advantage of what it's capable of.

It's not that bad because, like I and others in the comment section said, the CPU Is much more efficient due to being based on a much recent model compared to the 360 or PS3. It isn't anything to exactly brag about but there is no reason for anyone to bag on it that much.(not saying you were but just in general). To me, it seems that developers, such as Metro's development team are just complaining and isn't exactly trying too much but that's me. Plus the fact that the Wii U has 2 GBs of RAM, 1 for games and 1 for the OS is great.
-
Each of the parts do different things. The relatively large amount of RAM isn't going to make up for the CPU being bad (if it actually is, it's lower clocked but that's not everything). Games don't take advantage of even quad core CPUs fully at the moment but you need to have decent both, not one good one bad or it'll cause problems. All we're getting is ports right now so we'll have to wait until we start getting actual games made for the platform before we can say anything.
Edit: And yeah, it has 2GBs of RAM but that's also slower than what's in the PS3/360. 1GB of RAM seems to me too much for the OS anyway (1.5:.5 would have made more sense to me), but I didn't make the console.
-

I could be wrong but I believe the 360 only had 512MBs of RAM which the OS had to share with games but I don't get what you mean by it being 'slower' than what's in the 360 and PS3. Unless you're still talking about CPU.
-
The RAM, like the CPU, is clocked slower than that in the PS3 or 360. RAM has clock speeds too. 360 had 512MBs, very little of which was used for the OS, and PS3 had 512MBs as well, but it was isolated 256 for the GPU, 256 for the CPU. And again, very little of it was used for the OS.
Edit: WiiU uses a GPGPU which has some sort of CPU on it as well. So it has about one and a half CPUs plus the GPU. Apparently.

Alright, thanks for informing me about the RAM speed bit(not really too good on technology but always willing to learn). Yeah, I mentioned that the GPU is a GPGPU so it relieves some stress from the main CPU.

What ever the case we've heard developers go on record saying the Wii U is capable of superior graphics compared to the PS3. Thats all anyone is ever going to care about. But to what extent who knows?
If the UE4 demo is the peak of the coming consoles then we will hardly see the graphical gap that was between the PS360 and the Wii. Graphics are just that good right now. When I look at Halo 4 and God of War 3 they look absolutely amazing to me. But how much better are we taking? The equivalent to Toy Story to Toy Story 3?
If launch games made from unfinalized hardware pretty much look and play exactly the same to there counterparts on other systems I'm not worried about Nintendo's graphical capabilities. At the very least I expect X-box to Ps2 style ports. Hopefully Nintendo can retain and gain some 3rd party support when the other systems hit.
-
I think we have really good graphics right now, but most games on the consoles right now run at 720p, and upscaled look pretty blurry. And lots of jaggies. Max Payne 3 is one of the better looking games I've played.
[hide]
[/hide]If we could get that level of graphics quality but in a less linear game I would be happy. Obviously this doesn't apply to games that want their own style. I think we should concentrate on better AI, larger levels, and more things on screen at a time right now though. That's what I'm hoping Valve is doing with their new engine and hopefully HL3.
-
Holy shit, Metriod Space Battle, Mission 28. I never really thought Nintendo Land would up the difficulty by THAT much. Jesus Christ.
Also, if anyone wants to add me, it's Supa64. Also also, MasterlinkX Yeah!'d one of my posts.Edit: @Sakonosolo:

I believe it was confirmed that Wii U can play games in 1080p at 60 FPS. This does NOT apply to Epic Mickey 2 at all. Shit has framerate issues everywhere. And it seems to be only the Wii U's edition of it.(I've heard about other games having them as well on the Wii U but I've heard the opposite about them as well. I guess you've got to play it yourself really or watch videos or something.)
I agree that graphics have pretty much peaked and the only things developers really to focus on is larger levels and enemies, more enemies on the screen at one time and non-retarded AI(Another one of Epic Mickey 2's flaws).
-
I heard that 1080p and 60 fps thing but I'm kind of skeptical. I mean if they were properly optimized I don't doubt it could run say Batman Arkham City that way but I wonder how long that'll last. It's going to be around 5-7 years and games are just going to keep evolving. And it apparently doesn't support DX11 which I think is a mistake. We need to move on from DX9.

Well, like you've said, once we get out of portsville and developers start making more original games, we'll see if the 1080p 60FPS actually holds up. I thought the Wii U atleast supported DX10?
Edit: Apparently, it does support DX10 but this source is from August so no clue if it was recently debunked http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-30-how-powerful-is-the-wii-u-really. Still disappointing it doesn't support DX11. I bet 720 and PS4 won't though.
-
DX10 is find but the first card that supported DX10 came out in 2006/2007. DX11.1 is almost released already too. And I highly doubt whatever Microsoft and Sony release next won't support it.

In case anyone is interested my Nintendo Network ID is Robichoico like nearly always XD Gimme a shout/PM if you add me. I'll trty and get everyone who posts theirs onto it tho so

I'm OnePark if anyone wants to add me.

added!
So which Nintendoland attraction do you guys like the most? My faves are Pikmin Adventure, Yoshi Cart, Mario Chase, Luigi Mansion (1st level) and Donkey Kong's Cart. Worst is F-Zero (can't even get this one to work at all.) Octopus Dance and Animal Crossing (we played 1 vs 1 and found it was almost impossible if the other person knew that they can still outrun both if they only pick up 1 or 2
-
Animal Crossing is a blast with 3 v. 1 (2, really since they control both). The general strategy is have two people together, gather as much as you can and get the guards to chase you while you drop all your fruit. The third guy grabs everything up and TADA! You win.
My favorite attraction is probably a toss-up between Pikmin Adventure, Zelda Battle Quest or Metroid. All great solo-games and even better multiplayer games. Donkey Kong was great, but I beat it in 20 minutes (can't wait for a new course).
-
so far all 3 vs ones have been so fun. in fact only yoshi cart and takamaru i havn't liked much. yoshi is to easy and i suck at takamaru
-
I'd love to see new courses and attractions appear. Especially if they're older ones. An Ice Climber level would be a lot of fun. I'd love to see a 1 vs 3 based on the Mother series. 1 could be Ness, 3 could be Starmen invading Onett or something along those lines.
-
I actually really enjoyed Captain Falcon's twister race even if I could never finish all 12 areas. I think part of the reason I enjoyed it more was because I just ignored the Gamepad screen (which they advise you use) and just played on the TV

I've played AC 1 v1 with my brother and won a lot as the guards and as the animal. I'm pretty good at simultaneously controlling both guards though, so I used that to flank him. My favorite strategy as the animal was to pick up a few candy and then right as the guard was about to get me I'd drop one or two to throw off their timing

I'm OnePark if anyone wants to add me.
I'll be adding you and Cyber in a bit.
My favorite mini games on Nintendo Land is Zelda's Battle Quest, Metriod Space Shoot(Both games get ball to the wall hard, especially Metriod.), GW's Electric Boogaloo, And Pikmin Fliptastic Adventure. The rest I don't really play a lot of, like Yoshi's Fat Day and Donkey Kong Raging Crash Course or are amazingly fun with friends.
-
My Nintendo network ID is Ryuunaga. I only have Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper atm so not a lot of multiplayer things to do.
-
Sent a bunch of friend requests through Miiverse to you guys. Except I couldn't find Ryuunaga through Miiverse to make the friend request
-
I've accepted every add that I received (Aaronrules380, Cyber Robin). I'll generally accept everyone though. I really wish Nintendoland was online, that's hands down the best launch title.
-
yeah it's a shame it isn't. Then again. I'm bummed that all three of the major launch titles don't support online play. So much for Nintendo really pushing it this time.
Edit: Considering the rip off ports like Mass Effect and Arkham City. It's nice to see Tekken priced at the same amount as the PS3/360 versions AND coming with all of the DLC and some actual decent extras.
Although it's tutorial seems to hinder more than help lol

Its not? :(
great…. i guess i only have the solo games to play and return it tomorrow to gamefly
are there any online WiiU games out?EDIT:posting my Nintendo ID later
-
Tekken is online. As is CoD and I'm guessing Fifa and Assassin's Creed are too. Not sure about Warriors Orochi and Scribblenauts (I know most of the recent Warrior games have been online so I'm guessing yes)

my nintendonetwork ID is blacklegjex if anyone wants to add me. Now i'm gonna go play zombiu
-
lol I barely touched Zombiu after Nintendoland. Just booted it up myself about an hour ago. Damn sneaky Zombies
-
I traded in ZombiU. It became too frustrating to me. Especially when you have to go retrieve your gear again from your former character every time.
-
Caved in at last and purchased a 3DS XL. Now to wait and see how well the Wii U does before getting that one too.
-

You wouldn't have to do that if you didn't die :sideways: .
-
I'll probaby end up getting NSMBU and BLops 2 for the Wii U for christmas and maybe Paper Mario: Sticker Star. Unless that Yoshi Land rumor shines true, that's what I'm going for.
-
You wouldn't have to do that if you didn't die :sideways: .
Not dying is extremely hard in that game
-

I believe there is a chest back at the main base that you can put your stuff in so that if you die the next character can just retrieve from there and not have to get from your turned guy.
So stash away stuff you have mutliples of or ain't using at the time.
not to mention if you go online, then other peoples turned zombies show up from time to time and when you kill them you can get a crap load of gear.
-
I find Zombiu is best in short bursts myself, play until you die. I was the same yesterday where I played for about an hour, died and then was in a pretty fowl mood of having to go all the way back to where I died for the chance to continue lol
-
Went down to the local K-Mart today and picked up a Wii U. The internet hasn't been my friend last few weeks hunting down one. If you'd like to add me on Nintendo Network username is ZoroX88 open to all invites.
