Hey, just a question that a friend of mine needs answered. Will a Japanese Gamecube game work on an English Wii? I was pretty sure it would, but he's not so certain.
Also, I think I'm finally getting my own Wii this weekend. Birthdays rock.

Fuck, making illegal game copies :/
I find it hard someone would have a LEGITIMATE use to something like this
i mean if you had the knowledge to mod your Wii with this chip, chances are you're going to pirate
but either way, this will either end up patched, not used by alot of people
and either way you have to buy a Wii
Well, I'm glad if only because this means that region free enabling chips and such can't be far off
@Le:
Not exactly Wii related, but it's well… interesting. Hehe.
The way the URL shows up like that relates to the story PERFECTLY.

The DS Sensational Game now comes to the Wii!
Zelda-OOT, is confirmed to be at 1,200 points
I pretty much am fine with it, because i don't own the n64 version, nor the Gamecube collectors edition, and i can't seem to find either of those under 12 bucks, and n64 emulation is sketchy
So i am just glad to hear its confirmed
huh. i thought that was just Japan. O well
US VC Release for the week of 01/29/07
Press Release - http://gonintendo.com/?p=12392
Mario Kart 64
Contra III: The Alien Wars
Bonanza Bros.
Comix Zone
I think that LoZ OoT is for Japan.
I am not seeing a Mario Kart on the VC.
Give it some time. It normally comes up around noon or soon after on the East coast. Would anyone happen to know if there is a Wii FC thread?
:(
I'm 100 points short of being able to download Contra 3.
and thats one of the games I really want.
And all the stores I go to have been sold-out of Wii Points Cards for a while (they're in high demand lately)
.<;
I just played Wii for the first time this weekend. It was just too much fun. That warioware game where you jump the holes and race… man. I really need this system

You know you can buy the Wii Points in the Wii Shop.
You know you can buy the Wii Points in the Wii Shop.
Of course I know.
I don't have a credit card though, so I can't actually buy them.
Steal your parent's credit card
Mario says its okay so it must be right XD
i like the credit card funtion though, wish Amex was used
Dude, I HAVE to get wireless connection! I can't do anything but play WiiSports on my Wii.
Buy a game then
You can also apparently get wired internet access to the Wii (I saw it in the settings). Or you can use the Nintendo USB Wi-Fi thinger
The online game I'm waiting for is smash bros brawl.
For now I'm hooked on warioware smooth moves, I just can't stop playing that tower tennis mini game.
Aren't you able to change the regional settings of your Wii to get VC games from Japan? At least, that's what I've heard.
The answer is: no.
At least not from what I've heard.
The answer is yes, but the U.S. Wii doesn't have the option to switch to Japan's regional settings. The UK one does.
EDIT: http://www.siliconera.com/index.php/2006/12/13/switch-your-wii-version-and-download-different-games/
There… had to go back a little over a month of Wii knows to find, but I found a link.
I'm envying the UK right now.
Edit: Wait, I thought that was Europeans changing to UK to get their lineup or something like that.
I don't have a Wii, but plan on getting one. Can you download Castlevania, or have they not put it out yet?
No, they put it out.
Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I woke up today and my wiimote's weren't being picked up by the sensor bar. I did everything I could think of, I changed the batteries, I checked the sensor bar to make sure it was plugged in right, there isn't anything blocking the sensor bar, and I hit the sync buttons nothing is working. Does anyone have any ideas why my Wii is doing this and how to fix it.
is mario rpg going to come out on download?

If your problem is anything like my buddy's, in which his Wii couldn't pick up his wiimotes, I'd suggest to take the power cord out from the back of your wii, then put it back in. It worked for him; hopefully it'll work for you.
On another note, I absolutely love my Wii. I've had it since release day and from the rather basic games like Wii Sports, to sensitive games like Trauma Centre, its a lot of fun. I picked up Wario Ware last week and haven't been able to put it down. The dancing microgame is by far my favourite.
New Pics.

I have heard about that problem popping up alot lately and for the most part not many people have gotten it fixed themselves, instead they would call Nintendo and more than likely Nintendo would get you a new one. Try that.
my wii number, 8644 3168 4399 5001 plz add meeeeee :D
So. I went to Wal-Mart today, mainly to pick up a new calculator for Trig.
And they had five Wiis, that just arrived an hour before, and I almost had a heart attack. One Wii for Mii.
Wii Tennis is the shit.
Oh. And I picked up the calculator as well.
Wow! Setzer got a calculator!
@Le:

The lucky bastard. They're in short supply, I hear.
New Godzilla for Wii. Hmm interesting.

Yes. And a damn good calculator it is.
Also. On a another note, I don't have a wireless internet connection. Is there anyway I can hookup my Wii up to the internet without it?

Yeah you need a nintendo usb hub thing, so you can plug your ethernet into it.
And to anyone who knows
My wii can't find a wireless internet access point even though everything is setup and the router is wii compatable one.
Anyone know what's up or is it a take back to nintendo job?
Thanks for that.
I'll buy one when I can. My first priority is buying Twilight Princess.
My wii can't find a wireless internet access point even though everything is setup and the router is wii compatable one.
Well… I dunno. My internet's sometimes on the fritz even when I do connection tests even when my wifi is pretty fast and secure. You could just try over and over and over. But if it's just finding the connection, you could do it the really long way and point-type the wireless connection point into it and then test the connection.

I've tried so many times just won't find it.
When I did it manually I got an error, something like this 50130(not exact since I can't remember it) it just won't connect.
Might as well try it the old fashioned pain in the ass way. Then test the connection. I think the error code for unable to come up with things would be… 50133 or something like that. I've gotten it more than once while looking for my wifi router too. Patience for now is the key I suppose. At least for now.

Yeah I think that's the error code.
I was thinking maybe the wii is too far away from the router, since wi fi comes with it they'd put a cheap receiver inside. Like my nokia n80 has trouble connecting through 2 walls, while my laptop has no problems what so ever.
I'll go close to the router next time I try, Thanks for the advice
I wouldn't say it's a cheap receiver. But yea, distance has a part in everything. Wifi's a tricky thing to deal with. while in Toronto, I found a wifi connection that looked pretty strong, but my laptop couldn't connect to it for some reason.

Set the channel your router broadcasts on to 1 or 11. For some reason, the factory default 6 doesn't work too well. At least that was the problem I had.

Believe it or not I tried that too, It just won't find it
Found something out though, when my brother got it connected it started to update the console. At about half way it stopped and got and error code and since then he said it wouldn't connect (which is probably why I can't get it to connect)
So I think it may have messed up the firmware not letting it connect. I might have to send it back to nintendo:sad:
So I heard a rumour that a freeloader for the wii might be coming soon or something. Or that some coder people have found some ways to make it so you can modd it or w/e.
Any news on this?
Somewhere in this thread MRED posted a link to a newspost about a mod being made that lets you play backup (read: burned) discs, but it doesn't enable playing games from other regions.
"The Elebits team returns with a ground-up Wii game designed for the controller. Details, interview, screens and first footage inside!"
