Making me regret not pre-ordering a pro controller…
The Nintendo Thread

I only really care enough about the pro controller for when splatoon comes out. Especially since it's months after and hopefully by then I will have achieved better finances, not to mention cashing in on having a birthday coming up.
Just the fact the Pro Controller has a d-pad and the joy con don't means I'll definitely cannot go without it.

RIP virtual console.

After rethinking my priorities, I've decided to hold off on getting a Switch for a while, either until early fall or early next year. There's still plenty of stuff on the 3DS and Wii U to keep me occupied between BotW, VC and my general backlog. I'm just sad I won't be able to give the new Splatoon or Bomberman a try, but I'll just put them on my wish list for now.

https://mynintendonews.com/2017/02/28/dutch-retailer-lists-pikmin-world-for-nintendo-switch/
A new Pikmin game titled "Pikmin World" for the Nintendo Switch may of been accidentally outed though I understand the retailer that listed it has listed fake games before so not sure it has credence.
-
A lot of people probably missed it, since I would have as well due to just outright not knowing it was happening until gmail told me, but there just was a Nintendo Direct for Nindies on Switch.
-
I'm incredibly hyped for Wargroove. It's basically Advance Wars in a medieval fantasy setting which is great. I've been wanting to play a new Advance Wars game for years now and I'm happy this will satisfy me.
-
Pocket Rumble looks cool.
-
Not saying Stardew Valley is not an enjoyable game, but the Art they use in Chucklefish Games kinda scares game.

Real quick question for anyone who happened to preorder the Switch and/or Zelda on Amazon or some other method that ships to you.
Anybody getting shipping confirmation yet? Amazon has said it expected to ship today for a while now, and normally this wouldn't be too concerning but they've charged me for and are saying they're shipping Super Bomberman R already…. but nothing else Switch related.... that's a tad alarming lol

I didn't preorder the Switch, but the release date is March 3rd, right?
The thing about Amazon is that they can get stuff to your house pretty quickly, so I wouldn't expect them to ship until tomorrow or maybe even the release date. Also, Amazon's tracking shipment updates aren't always 100% accurate.
I wouldn't worry. The worst that can happen is that they don't get it to you, in which case you're entitled to a refund.

I'm monitoring both the Amazon thing and my bank for charges and neither has happened yet for anything but Super Bomberman R.
I don't think I'd be worried at all really if we hadn't already had some people's Master Editions get cancelled… that still has me worried...

It is a problem when the Master Edition is super duper limited and already sold out.

Rin. Chill out lol.

@The:
Remember when controllers didn't have to sync? Sega remembers.
!

Ugh, those are pissing me off. THAT'S NOT WHAT DE-SYNC EVEN MEANS.
-
Which one of you flat foots stole my Nintendo ID? Romancedawn has always been my thing! Now I gotta settle for Romance-Dawn… Ugh!
-
Ugh….. The Day 1 Patch is out...... Online Functionality is enabled...... Friend Codes are back.... god fucking damnit Nintendo....
-
For all the lucky midnight releases.
My GameStop isn't doing one so I'll have to wait anxiously through an appointment before I can grab mine.

Wait, DS-era friend codes or "friend codes" meaning the Wii U NNID system?

Lol what, what's ridiculous. The Wii U system was a lot simpler and streamlined.
Does it have something to do with the handheld aspect? (not that it should, but…)

Hopefully the "With Users You Played With" option will be much better in comparison to the past because goddammit Nintendo.
-
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there like 3 alternative options?
-
Hey guys you can't be friends with people, only their hardware.

If I get the switch it will probably be in the fall, I don't want to be just playing Zelda, I want to take my time with it. On the other hand, I might finally get that 3DS for the summer.

Look forward to it, cuz the 3DS has a LOT of good games.

Don't put the Switch cartiridges in your mouths kids.
They taste terrible.

They were intentionally manufactured to taste as bad as possible due to the size of the cartridge being a choke hazard for little kids, possibly pets as well. There was a whole Nintendo response to this yesterday I believe.

Just letting people know…If they do that for some reason.

I went to my local Toys R Us, which is also where I work, in order to get my switch today.
While I'm waiting some guy rolls up in a car and tries to sell me a Switch. I deny him and he goes to the other couple waiting in a car. I didn't overhear them but after the attempted seller left, the guy comes out of his car and asks me how much the Switch is selling for. I tell him $300. Apparently the guy trying to sell us the Switch was trying to sell for $500. Like what the hell?
-
Managed to order a BotW special edition online through Toys R Us. Cost me almost $140 with shipping + tax. >.<
Whatever…I got it and that's all that matters right now. Wanted the Master Edition but knowing Nintendo they won't be selling any more of that.

Decided to not buy the Switch, not yet. I got so hyped for it expecting for it to replace my PSVita but the closer we got to launch the more small problems popped up. Issues with left joycon, friend codes, lack of save transfer, huge lack of online features, no bluetooth support for other devices, no browser, media apps, and it just keeps going. We already know that some of those will be addressed in future updates but I'm already expecting a new model for the Switch to be announced next year or so since there also seem to be some small design issues with the hardware that can be easily fixed with an updated model.
This sort of annoys me because the game lineup is so good that I'll be taking those $300 out of my pocket by the end of this year knowing that the next I'll do the same for a better version. >.<

Heads up to people with Nintendo Switch 2 things to be careful for

I heard people were even selling preorders online? When people get desperate, others make bank.

Can I just say that I hate the Switch as a piece of hardware, and I've only had it set up for like 10 minutes?
First of all, it doesn't feel very comfortable to use. The joy cons are just too small, so even though my hands are a mile apart, they feel cramped, especially if I try to press L or R. I simply cannot figure out a way to position my hands where that doesn't feel awkward. If I'm comfortably able to reach the triggers, then I either need to arch my fingers like crazy or flatten them out like I have a cramp just to hit the shoulder buttons (with my fingertips or the middle of my finger, respectively). This is even more the case if I have them on the controller hub thing while the Switch is docked. And I have SMALL hands, for the record. Like, not Trump small, but on the lower end of the spectrum.
Speaking of which, the dock is a fucking $5 discount plastic piece of shit. It's barely heavy enough to stand up straight and not fall over when I breathe near it, and when the tablet is docked, it inexplicably rattles like a maraca whenever I touch it (so basically the entire time I try to dock/undock the tablet, or joy cons, or try to adjust it in any way). Which I wish I didn't have to do so often, BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO CHARGE THE CONTROLLERS IF THEY AREN'T DOCKED. You know, unless I buy some $30 charging base peripheral. So that alone is going to compel me to get a Pro Controller sooner rather than later. Especially coupled with the fact that the release buttons to slide the joy cons on and off are tactically placed to be difficult to press while simultaneously sliding the joy con.
I hope the - (minus) button isn't used very often because its placement makes it almost impossible to press easily, since it's so small and right under the left joystick. The + button is significantly easier to hit.
Oh. And what is with making it so that the first (or last?) docked joy con is the only one to control the system?? I plug them both in and suddenly I have to use my right hand to navigate. WTF. Finally, the kickstand was designed by an idiot. It's barely structurally sound enough to support the thing to begin with, but the fact that they chose to have a thin, curved bottom means that it just outright won't stand up on any material that isn't at least as hard as wood. Can't prop it up anywhere on my couch, carpet, chair, or any other padded surface, no matter how lightly padded it be. Not that I really care about this function but god damn they are idiots at design.
I don't know, man, but my first impression is absolutely terrible. I was never a fan of their decision to sell a glorified tablet as a hybrid console, but I never expected it to feel like the docked functionality is actually a flimsy afterthought. I really hope over time I get used to it rather than finding more things that make no sense.
Edit: Forgot to mention that the cover for the game card slot is one of those terrible plastic tab things that hang there and tend to break off after you use them a few times.

You forgot to mention the part where you turned into the Incredible Hulk and went postal on the kitchen table, Foolio.

Scalpers are gonna scalp though. You shouldn't have to be made to pay more than what an item is worth just because it's "business" for the seller.

Nothing like a bottle of Frank's Red Hot Sauce wouldn't fix!

Isn't it the map button in Zelda? :X

I put my Switch Friend code in my signature so if anyone wants to add me it will be there.

Nintendo Switch Code sharing time!

24 hours later, remember- if you still don't like, you always sell it to a Switchless guy like me :ninja:

Yep. So there goes that hope. Zelda actually has a fair bit of button mapping issues though.

I will never like it, but I bought one because I need it for a lot of exclusives.

Ah, but then they've already got you.
Soon you'll be playing Spla2oon until 4 AM while muttering "b-baka Switch"

I took one of my martial arts students to the Switch event Friday, so much fun! I already got my Switch at midnight the night before but I knew this would make for a memorable day. I am loving Zelda so so so soooooooo much.
Fun Fact: I stunt doubled an actor on an episode of Castle in this very studio and stage where Nintendo set up the event.
-
So clearly Foolio hates it, but I was expecting that.
Anyway, I'm looking for some help from those more knowledgeable (than me, not Foolio): Wii U, or Switch?
Obviously I absolutely have to play Zelda and the only reason I'm not is because the Switch sells out everywhere, instantly, and the only person I know with a Wii U is on disability and as such has trouble getting stuff out of their garage.
Here's my story:
[hide]Gaming-wise, these days I only care about Zelda and Smash Bros, but that will change as my kids get a bit older. My oldest two play Smash Bros and Mario Kart with me on the Wii/Cube already, but not competitively of course [ages 4, 9]. Beyond that my son emulates my older games on my PSP (Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy); we don't know any other consoles. I'm not big into my kids playing games all the time, they're more likely to read a book or be outside, so weekend morning/evening is basically it for them. I'd like to be able to have Smash Bros Netplay matches with a few of my friends who moved away, but they don't currently have a console either. So that basically leaves me playing a game late at night or on my lunch breaks at work, or otherwise with my kids here and there. The "late at night or at work" are theoreticals that don't happen because I don't have a mobile console and I'm not the kind of guy who spends his nights in a different room, disengaged from his wife. If she wants to read or watch a crappy show, my preference is to at least be near her, not in another room.[/hide]
My options are to either buy the Switch when it becomes available, buy a Wii U off Craigslist or something, or else wait for my friend to loan me his Wii U. The latter option will not be permanent and only so I can play Zelda. Most sellers in my area for the Wii U have Mario Kart and/or Smash Bros, so that could be a nice perk, but I don't like used consoles because I don't trust them as an investment. The Switch allows me to play at work and at night, and when the inevitable next version of Smash Bros comes out I can get it, plus I imagine SSB4 will eventually port over in case SSB5 sucks.
Anyway, I've followed Zelda development religiously, but the Switch as a console not-so-much. Good news, bad news, Foolio news?
