It seems the director went above his usual performance.

had to close and open the link atleast 3 times..
also.. some mr.3 filler and actual showing of the peddle ship coming up from under the water…

I just could not stop laughing when Doflamingo said "I am jealous !" and "cold shoulder".
I can see some hint of Yaoi between Luffy and Marco.
did not care for the almost 7min recap.
I wasn't distracted by Lucy being half naked.

My small comments on this episode, like all the cool kids are doing it (or at least did on the last thread)
-Colossal "flashback", that was way too big, 25% of the show, at the very least
-Nice to have the ice passing through the Admirals, last episode it looked like all the ice passed to the sides of them, and not actually through them, might have just been weird perspective.
-Luffy seems to have an infinite ammount of ice on his feet
-The scene where Luffy was kicked at the speed of light would have looked cooler in Slo-Mo, but still a good job.
-I didn't like how everyone seemed powerless at Ace almost being decapitated, I thought Oda made it clear that Marco could have easily saved Ace from death?
-Nice job on making it look like Ace actually died, this scene must have looked far better for those who didn't read the manga before watching this.
-Well, at least they show Marco saying that he could have easily saved Ace, but still, why was he screaming in shock before, then?
-Weirdly animated impact between DoFlamingo and Crocodile, specially didn't like how they were both sent flying in a weird manner, oh well.
-Marco hitting AoKiji was also weird, although far less.
-Not sure if I like the fact that Mr 3 was able to outsmart and outspeed AoKiji, but nice added filler on him finding the clothes for the executioners.
-Nice music with Whitebeard
-I kinda liked the way Whitebeard's slash was animated, I wouldn't say its better or worse than the one in the manga, its different.
Man, all the big and amazing scenes from the manga were kinda lame in the anime this episode. Luffy fighting the marines wasn't animated that well and the music bothered me, Oars throwing the ship looked weird and static and Whitebeards attack should have looked a lot more like Sauron's attack at the beginning of Lord of the Rings. All in all, the animation wasn't nearly as good as in the last episode and ruined a few awesome scenes.
However, next episode should be great, even though I didn't like the preview.
OK..if your still complaining about the pacing then you are a hopeless case and should probably resign yourself to waiting 20 years from now when One Piece Kai comes out to pick up the Anime again cause this was the 3rd kick-ass episode in a row. This arc is getting better and better, and the shit hasn't really even hit the fan yet..

The episode was alright.
-Long ass recap.
-Kizaru falcon kicking Luffy was sweet.
-Dragged out reaction shots for Ace almost getting beheaded. Come on, Toei.
-Crocodile and Doflamingo face-off was good.
-Luffy vs Unnamed Rokushiki Marine #28 was pretty good mini-filler.
-Mr. 3 implied filler was really good. Fills up the little things Oda forgot to show us.
-WHY the hell does Toei make the coated ships fly out of the water??? They don't fly, they RISE up from the water. Jesus Christ…
-Whitebeard's bisento quake looked.....alright.
-The final scene with Sengoku lifting up his sleeve got me pumped up, even though he's not gonna do shit for like a few more episodes.
Next week, more Luffy-getting-his-ass-whooped time.

There was one part in next week's preview where it shows Luffy getting hit by Kizaru, but it looks like another shoulder hit. If I am not mistaken, didn't he get piereced through his lower right side in the manga?

They messed up WB entrance by doing this.
I think a lot of the manga-first complainers don't realize the best reason to watch the anime: for difference between the manga.
There were some spots I didn't think of too highly (Whitebeard/Commanders about to storm the marines, Oars's driving of the ship, Marco's fake reaction to Ace's impending execution), but the anime expansions/additions were AWESOME (the rest of the "Ace's impending execution" scene, Mr. 3 filler, Luffy/Rear Admiral fight).
The moment the music for this episode started playing, I knew this was going to be worse than last week, but "worse" does not equate to "bad" or even "not good." This "was" a good episode, but far from GREAT.
In other news, I've got high hopes for next week. Does "頂上決戦! 白ひげ海賊団vs海軍大将" translate into
! "Bird Hunting Season: Starring Monkey D. Garp"?

The episode was pretty damn solid imo. I liked it alot. Though, is it just me, but now that we get a better look at the interior of the plaza and the relation between Oars Jr.'s position within it and the position he was in when he was "dieing" many episodes ago when he reached out to Ace…they really pushed him back (unless Moria was using his powers to stretch out Oars Jr.'s arm back then)! XD

Nice episode. and I got to say that Mr.3 filler was a nice move.
The chapter was one of my favourites but this was probably the worst paced war episode so far. The animation wasn't all that hot either so overall it was a rather big disappointment.
Fun episode. Can't wait for the next one.
I loved this episode. Just loved it. It was great. And next week looks really nice too. I'm, so far, happy with this arc.
Pacing was good, animation rocked, and everything looked awesome.
Vice-admirals… they're coming... can't wait to see more of them. It was good to see Yamakaji and Strawberry, they're like the rarest. Also, in the end, am I the only one who found that funny Momonga and Frenchstache was holding their swords while everyone else was "flying"? It's like they wanted to slice a few marines.
Yayyyy really like croc and dofla staredown that sure killed me. Also like epic sengoku moment.
Didn't much care about long recap, making up nonsense filler is much worse.

No particular reason except that flying ships look cooler than rising ships. Strangely subverted in this episode with Oars just lifting the paddle ship instead of throwing it. At least I got the impression he threw it in the manga.

Solid episode. Though I facepalmed when Marco complained about not being able to do anything after that super dramatic slow mo scene when Ace's head was about to be cut off which he was a part off. Stupid directing that.
These episodes really aren't doing anything for me if they don't have the fantastic animation that we had the past two weeks.
This episode felt flat, and the lines above Crocodile and Whitebeard's eyes were weak to say the least.
