Sonata Arctica Thread

For those who don't know, its a Finnish Power Metal Band that has done some pretty awesome epic-sounding music over the last few years. A few favorites of mine include "Flag In the Ground," "Ain't Your Fairytale," "The Cage," and "San Sebastian."

Post schedules for this band's visits here, your thoughts on their music, or even a few one piece amvs done to their music (there are a few).

_The only songs I know are Full Moon, San Sebastian, I Want Out…and I think that's it. Full Moon is an epic song, and San Sebastian is probably my favorite.

I Want Out is actually a cover of Helloween.

I became a huge power metal fan back in high school, and this was one of the bands that helped me get into them. To me, Sonata Arctica isn't as cheesy as other power metal bands, which is quite an accomplishment. The first album I heard was Of Silence, which got me hooked. Off the top of my head, my favorite songs are Wolf & Raven, Ain't Your Fairytale, Graven Image, and The Cage.

Gonna see them live for the second time in March, oh yeah.
My fav songs are Gravenimage, Victoria's Secret, Wolf & Raven and 8th Commandment.

One piece amv's made me a fan of this band. My favorite is definetely "Fullmoon" as I have the live version and it is infintely more impreesive than the recorded version IMO. As with most others "The cage" is a favorite, my second favorite if I had to choose. "The rest of the sun belongs to me" Is also a great one and has a much more upbeat feel than the other two. Finally I liked their cover of "Die with your boots on" greatly. These are the only songs i've heard by them but I look forward to hearing more.

I saw them live a couple of years ago when they got a new guitarist. Dude was crazy live. Love the band.

Twilight - The Band

In all seriousness, I really used to like them a few years ago. Ecliptica is fairly solid for a first outing but after a few shoddy releases the only one I liked since was Reckoning Night.

Wanting to give them another shot I saw them at Bloodstock Open Air last year. Possibly the worst band on the bill. Edguy who were on the next day just blew them away totally. The singer forgot lines in a couple of songs, the guitarist forgot to play a solo in Full Moon and a few other tracks, their sound was screwed up, their timing was worse and the set list was just balls.

Really didnt feel like I got my monies worth. After this I cant see myself getting many albums of theirs again
