      @Sakonosolo:

      Thanksgiving is first you fuckers.

It's comin; closer and closer!!! That good American tradition of glorified gluttony is exemplified perfectly in this holiday. Share your tales, your favorite dishes to consume on this holiday, and maybe even your favorite float on the Macy's parade.

Ham and turkey. Mmmm mmmm good.

NOTICE: Unless I'm wrong, which in this case I don't expect that I am, Thanksgiving is on November 24th.

I rarely ever eat Turkey. I don't really like it that much, except for lunchmeat. I usually have ham, mashed potatoes + gravy, and macaroni and cheese.

I'll be cooking for Thanksgiving at my house this year. And not just one or two dishes, nope; we're talking the works. Right now I'm trying to generate some ideas but DanialG reminded me that I could add some pumpkin seeds to the dishes.

Didn't you just make a Chrismas thread also?

Anyways, all I basically do is hang out with the family and indulge myself in tons of food.

I can only eat turkey between bread and mayo. Yeah, I'm horrible.

Definately looking foward to corn bread, mac and cheese, and mashed potatos!

My favorite thing though, is the Macy's Day Parade. I'm 21, and I get all giddy with excitement over it.

when I moved to the US, thanksgiving was always a pretty shit holiday to me. There was no atmosphere to it like Christmas, or Halloween, and since nobody in my family cared about it we never bothered with a Thanksgiving dinner.

                  The End.

                  Bring me Christmas instead.

I'm going house hopping this year. This time, with doggy bag. I expect baby back ribs.

Hopefully everyone has something to eat despite alot of of people being laid off these days.

I've never had a Thanksgiving dinner. I'd take Christmas any day, every day.

The thing about turkey is that it is SUCH a pain in the ass to really bake a turkey. It takes 24 hours almost, but it tastes so damn good!

It's basically a challenge to try to make the biggest most pain in the ass dinner you can for your entire family.

I enjoy this, because it shows what strife and challenges you and the people you care about can fight through. Thanksgiving and Christmas is a battlefield. And I enjoy it.

Thanksgiving is my all time favorite meal of the year, hands down. I always make a turkey and gravy, g/f stuffing (I'm celiac and dairy intollerant, if it matters to anyone), corn bread for the kids, mashed potatoes, sweet baby peas, carrots, sweet potatoes topped with margarine and dribbled with maple syrup, butternut squash with margarine and salt and pepper, turnips with margarine, and dinner rolls. Yum. Desert is d/f pumpkin pie and apple pie, with g/f pie crust of course, lol. Just doesn't get much better.

Insider, if you cook your turnkey at such a low temperature that it takes that long to cook, it's probably a simmering vat of salmonella, no offense. Even a huge 20+ lb turkey shoould only take 5+ hours to roast (not bake), lol.

And for all youse younguns whose family drama has ruined the holiday, that's too bad, but remember that as an adult you get to make your own history, from scratch.
