Well, this anime is actually based on a Novel (nope, not a manga) and I think it's one of the best space operas out there. Apparently, it is not very popular which is a pity since the storyline + the soundtrack is good.
Anyone watches it here? Maybe I can get ocean to read the novel too

Yep, I've seen all three season of the series (Crest/Banner/Banner 2) and I completely love it. Go Jinto & Lafiel!!!
However, for some people it may prove boring due to the drama/politics involved. I like it and I'm glad you like it too StrawHatLuffy.
There's gonna be another sequel to the series but in the form of OVA. It's coming out soon I think. The story follow where Banner of the Stars 2 left off
I think there's also a manga to it but I think it's based on anime and not on the novel but I'm not sure.
At times like this that I wish I can read Japanese. You can still get away with manga with pictures but not in novel 
Maburaho is also another great novel which I wish I can read

Yep yep, the OVA DVD is coming out 23rd August. I can't wait I still love the opening music now.. lol

If my mind serves me right, the opening for all season was all instrumental. Only ending song had vocals (which were all very nice).
My favourite character besides Jinto & Lafiel is Commander Spoor, she can command me all my life Abh wa saikou

I have only seen the first volume of Crest of the Stars, and Ive read the manga. It seems like Lafiel is more of an bitch in the manga.
I have the whole Crest and trying to get both Banners DVDs. As most people I first saw it on Tech Tv and it became one of my favorite shows, I loved the space battles as they remined me of the old sea battles. Anyway I cant wait to see the new OVA when it come outs and also is the novel based off here in the US or still in Japan?
Saw both Crest of the Stars and Banner of the Stars on TechTV. (Crest of the Stars numerous times…). One of my favorite anime.... Banner of the Stars 3 OAV should be coming out in a few weeks (I think it's August 2005...). Don't think the novels are out in the US.
BTW, Banner of the Stars III already has a raw out for grabs - way before the DVD release. I heard this is the TV Rip from a pay-to-view channel in Japan.
