@murderedboy:
The other person is not wrong about the requirement for set-up.
What he is wrong about is that Nami's little set-up can be compared to Usopp's twelve-step programme.
@murderedboy:
If you don't accept that, Usopp can also do the exact same thing as was described in your post, clearly visible in his fight against Luffy.
Lol, you're comparing Usopp's sweet Jesus one time beyond the limits strategy to Nami's basic attacks. Apples and Oranges man.
"But how do you know it was one-time?"
You actually think Oda will have Usopp do a strategy like that over and over and over again?
@murderedboy:
Also, I don't know whether Usopp is actually stronger now, or whether he is weaker. We haven't really seen anything to put him below Nami yet. If I missed something let me know.
You mean other than what Oda said?
@Bruce:
Both attacks are convoluted.
Just because Nami's technqiues are based on complex meterology doesn't make them convoluted. Convoluted is when you have your basic technqiues and combine them in crazy ways with a bunch of fake outs and trump cards.
@Bruce:
Nami also relies on tricks like her mirages to distract her opponent until the Thunder Lance Tempo is ready to go.
You're really supporting my argument if anything. Nami's mirages are part of her normal fighting style. Rather than take insanely amounts of damage, she simply avoids damage all together. Usopp's "technique" was more of a huge strategy he had a day of prep to work on against his captain and will probably never do it again.
@Bruce:
I really don't feel like arguing about this. We'll see how deadly Usopp is when he single-handedly beats one of the most important members of Blackbeard's crew. That and his new goal of becoming a "real king of snipers" requires him to become quite the badass among his crewmates.
I'm not saying he's not going to do any of this. Him vs. Van Augur is pretty much set in stone. He's just gonna do it while he's the weakest of the crew. It actually makes the whole thing more interesting and exciting.
@Bruce:
I've always felt that the quote was directed at those that felt Usopp should be on par or slightly below the Monster Trio.
From what Oda said, you got that he'll be the fourth strongest?lol
@Bruce:
And unless Nami eats a DF, I don't see how she could be seen as more super-human than him in the near future.
Lol, hilarious line. Usopp's stronger than her because he's a real man >:) Dude, you're way too fixated on your sex prejudices and narrow-minded views of strength to appreciate that there are other more effective ways of fighting rather than muscle and taking unnecessary damage like a tool. Nami's fighting style particularly allowed her to beat the second female in command of a strong organization, a highly trained super-human and brought Oars to his knees with one attack not to mention the scores of fodder she takes out in one attack.
You're really missing the main point altogether. While it's true that Usopp and Nami haven't shown that much to be able to place one over the other, given what we've been given in the manga COMBINED with Oda's own words, one CAN see where Oda's coming from with his declaration. I.E. he did NO beak his statement as someone else put it. But if you wanna fixate on the "he's better because he's manly" scenario, that's your business.
