@Buuhan1:
Reviving? I was never under the impression it died. It was MIA for a number of years between Angel of Darkness (2002-2006?) and Legend (because AoD was so badly received), but it never died.
Oh yeah, they've been consistently trying to pump out Tomb Raider games haven't they. I kind of forgot, since it's so easy to pass it by and nobody really cares, or talks, about them.
And it's still totally an irrelevant franchise. I just remember after Angel of Darkness there was some hype because they were trying to "re-invent" and get back to its roots. I played that game some and then suddenly it's a blur and now we're several more Tomb Raider games down the line, just getting by on "solid" games.
It's actually funny, I've heard that Tomb Raider: Guardian of Light or whatever it's called is actually a great game
and everyone I've played says it probably hurt itself by being attached to the Tomb Raider name. Which I don't find surprising, since Tomb Raider is just… a name now. It's just "that series" with "that main character". It just gets by by being Tomb Raider and not being terrible. But I can't imagine anybody cares that much anymore, the name cannot carry the weight it used to (and at that it only carried anything through 1997-2000). The only way anybody could ever try caring about Lara Croft again is if they just chucked her, shut her away, and stuck her there for a decade before trying again.
