a Movie knowing about Gold Rogers COMPLETE past..
would be epic…. i mean we already know some of his journey's from some past clips or reminsces, but we dont know it all...
it would be very interesting!!!!

Ok seriously, it would work only if it werent the fact that this story is based around Monkey D. Luffy and not Roger. Second, it is the author of the MANGA who would probably take care of the backstory in time, not by some anime director. Im pretty sure this is going to be important in the future for the manga.

It would have to be after One Piece ends, since other wise there would be no conceivable ending as we would find out what One Piece is. I think that if done right and at the right time though, it could be very exciting.

Luffy is eventually going to outshine all of Rogers accomplishments, and until he does, everything Roger saw and did will be a spoil for what's coming up… right down to what his ambition abilities did, or even what devil fruit he had, if any.
My guess has for a long time been we'll get a lengthy Roger flashback when Luffy finds One Piece. Right after they open the doors to the vault, but before the audience actually sees what the treasure is. A flashback at that point would add even more suspense, and massive context to the moment.

yeah….i dont see how Oda would make Luffy get just to roger's level instead of making him surpass roger. Let me word this thread in another way, more receptive to fans:

Yeah I'ma echo what's been said already really - the story is about Luffy and in a way that is the whole point, Luffy echoing Roger's actions from scratch.

One Piece is One Piece… so I don't think basing a movie on Roger is that bad of an idea. Of course it'd have to be after OP finishes, or else we'd know what One Piece is before Luffy finds it.
But seeing the origin of the treasure One Piece and how shit went down in that era in movie format - I wouldn't say no.
However it'd have to be a long movie.

I think it would be sweet if, like LAY (Looking_at_you) said, after the overall past of Gold Roger was unveiled, and One Piece was finished, someone made a kind of prequel to the series, called something like One Piece: Genesis, (I know, it's sorta cheesy :P), where it would showcase the beginnings of Gold Roger, the famed pirate that shook the world with his words.
But I think it would be interesting if they also darkened and matured the theme of the show overall, showcasing it to more of an older/more mature sort of audience, and portraying how the world of OP can be cruel and ruthless as well as unforgettable and full of memories that would be so nostalgic it'd bring you to your knees.
cough Anyway, either way, I think Oda will give us some history about Gold Roger some time or another…and it'll be epic..? :P
