At the end of OP? (100+ volumes) I think yes. Epicness, sadness, happyness and comic moments, dreams, evolution, wars, this story is just great… Just think about this world created by Oda. I will not be surprised to know that Oda drew nearly a thousand different characters. Talking about story from mangas, books, movies ect..
It seems i can't make a poll.
Discuss.
Will One Piece be considered as one of the best story ever created?

DISCUSS FFS! omg…... PPL come here yet they dont say a freaking thing.
I know right?! I once made that awesome topic about how the super sparrow will be the next nakamate, yet no one seemed to care. I waited like ONE FREAKING HOUR and no one replied. Sheesh!!
Seriously though, I simply tend to stay quiet when I don't have anything nice to say, you know.

The day hell freezes over and all copies of the Iliad are burned.
-
Yes this is one of the most top anime story.. I really love O.P
-
I say no. I love One Piece, but I think that the story isn't what makes it great.
One of the best shonen, sure it is.

PPL are ok to post in shitty threads shuch as Cosplaytards or does gaimon has Haki yet they dont want to post a fucking word to say if this story (they spend hours all days to talk about it) deserve to be considered at the top of the stories created. Talk about logic. K i'm out, bye.
Translation: Everybody please give me the attention.

you can delete your post you know.

hahahaha maybe one day….but for now, only on this forum will it be considered the best story
-
@ gol: if you mean that what you like in OP is the humor of characters and stuff like that, have in mind that it take part of the story obviously.
-
To me it already is… but no I don't think it will be aclaimed as such anytime soon...
-
this sounds like the "Will Bleach be considered a legend in the future?" thread on NF.

I just sat down and read that entire thread.
Dear god..
My IQ points are now in the negatives. -
Let's wait and find out. I think OP has the potential to be seen as the greatest modern piece of epic literature floating around. I wonder how people will see OP and Berserk 50 years after they are done.
-

Dear god..
My IQ points are now in the negatives.I read a few pages as well. wtf was with that OP fan? Making us all look bad.
-
Sure, it will be a legend among mangas.
But in literature over the whole world, it wont even be noticed and rly doesn
t deserve a spot among the best books ever written..they`re a whole other league. -
I just read the first three pages of that thread… O_O.
That guy does make One Piece fans look bad, >.>

One Piece rules. End of mother f'ing story
-
Who knows? A lot of books we study today were once considered "cheap" literature.
-
One Piece is a great little story about a guy who wants to be Pirate King, with a rich world, entertaining characters and engrossing plot lines.
Epic it is not.
-

And could always be objectively analyzed for the reasons they aren't anymore.
I mean yeah you can whip out this sappy factoid, but you have no clue what makes those things literature do you.

I don't claim to know something because I'm not an expert at analyzing literature. There might be more to One Piece than meets the eye but that neither you and I have found out yet.
-
Well, firstly, I think the fact that it is a manga will restrict this from ever happening. The stigma that it is a children's story and also drawn would result in a lot of people just eyerolling when they hear the word manga as I think Dirt Monkey Al made a point about in a thread on here recently.
-

What a thunderously retarded post.
What the fuck do you think great literature is? Playing Where's Waldo with meaning?
-
Well, firstly, I think the fact that it is a manga
Watchmen is listed by Time Magazines as one of 100 best novels of all time.
One Piece simply isn't the literature manga type.
If you make a proper manga out of The Little Prince, it can be considered literature as well, even if it is for children. As for comedy, the comedy in Lone Wolf and Cub is more literary than One Piece's.
One Piece is something of the entertainment industry.
@Reyairia:I don't claim to know something because I'm not an expert at analyzing literature. There might be more to One Piece than meets the eye but that neither you and I have found out yet.
You are clueless.
-
This is literature.
!
-
Literature or Story? No.
Shonen? I believe it'll at least be remembered for quite a while after it's finished. -
This post is deleted!

Thought I was quoting something. Ignore this for now.

Legendary in Japan? Most likely
Legendary in the world? Fuck no!One Piece has a great story and all that shit, but when we're talking about world renowned best story of all time, it's not possible.
Sad truth:
No manga will ever be considered one of the best pieces of literature of all time. -
@JERK:
agahaghaghaghahahhaha
I won't argue. Like I said let's wait and find out where OP goes. The story has a long way to go. It could be a let down or maybe, just maybe, it will be one of the greatest things any of us have ever read and the general public will catch on (outside of just the manga fanbase I mean - I'll bet very few thought Watchmen would get the respect it has when it was being created.) Time will tell.

You haven't read Watchmen have you.
-
-
Will it remain famous? Sure.
One of the best? Er.
-
@JERK:
You haven't read Watchmen have you.
haha, true. I own it and have yet to actually read it. I suppose I shouldn't use it as an example untill I do. Regardless, we don't know how exceptional or underwhelming The New World-era of One Piece will be and with it the impact on the overall series it will have.

Here's a hint. It's not going to suddenly randomly be fucking King Lear, nor should it be.
-
"One Piece" is already one of the best, if not the best, piece of fiction I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Now granted that might not be saying much since I don't read or watch a whole lot of fiction, but in my eyes it's an instant classic. So yeah I don't know as literature, as a comic book, or what have you but I wouldn't be surprised if "One Piece" is high up there decades from now.
-
Lone Wolf and Cub is the only manga I've ever read where I thought this is lit.
Well, that and Nausicaa, but Retsudo for life.
Obviously the major problem here is those saying its one of the best can't contextualise it, so my suggestion would be to read some more fucking books.
-
Yeah, only Lone Wolf and Nausicaa have hit that lit level that Watchmen and possibly V for Vendetta have.
Though I've heard Tezuka's Phoenix is on the level.
-
@JERK:
Though I've heard Tezuka's Phoenix is on the level.
It is.
Swallow the Earth's a good contender as well.
-
@Cyan:
The day hell freezes over and all copies of the Iliad are burned.
That can be arranged :ninja:
-
It has records of sellings, a story always developing and always iteresting and is set to be one of the longest manga ever. It's definately the best shonen ever right now…there might be something more...
-
One Piece doesn't and shouldn't need to be as lit as Watchmen, Nausicaa, etc. It has its own role in the manga industry and I enjoy it best as it's now.
-
Well what exactly defines lit. level?
-
Holy shit.
Just realized Sea's avatar is from Lone Wolf and Cub.
face…palm -
It goes Donald Goines, If I Did It, and then One Piece. The three best pieces of literature ever written.
Though this thread is stupid. One piece is already at the hierarchy of Asian reading. Lets not forget the stats that a manga will probably have sold more than the kite runner by the time it's over. Kipling ain't got shit on my nigga Oda.
-
some ppl coming here and saying "you think that one piece is at the top in term of story? Just go read more books, fool." I just love this kind of sentence, like the guy know nothing but conclude some bs things about you.
What definite a good story? Is it the complexity of the story? The depth of feelings in it? Something which make you clever once you finished it? Something that you simply enjoy? OP is IMO an incredible story and totally deserve to be considered at the top. I've never read King lear for example, but i'm pretty sure i will be a bit bored while reading it and at the end just think "ok, that was a good story". When OP will be over, the guy who will start it and read the 100+ volumes, I seriously don't think that he is just gonna say "ok that was a good story", he will just be amazed and will piss in his pants once he will finish it.
I think that, like OP isnt an american comic, it will not be know enough in the world because it is just a "manga".
