He suggest the songs sound alike. They do, a little bit. But not enough to say this is where Toei got their inspiration from if you ask me. I think that's just what solemn Japanese singing sounds like.

I think it's meant to be a general parody of sentai theme songs, not making fun of a specific one. I could be wrong though, I haven't watched much sentai.

You're right. Any given japanese superhero opening, especially the older ones, will look similar to Sogeking's. Like

Ahh.. this makes me remember how hard I laughed the first time I saw the sogeking song. Good times, good times.

EDIT: I wonder what the reaction was like on AP when this episode premiered :) must be fun to read

FUN FACT: When I saw this episode (and consequently watched the sogeking song about 20 times) I sang it around the house for about a week. My mom gave me looks. I didn't care xO
