I don't know if people on here has talked about this game but I'll make a thread for it.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent if you haven't played/read about a English man named Daniel. He is a archaeologist who went on a expedition in a African desert with a friend of his called Herbert. While on this expedition Daniel and Herbert finds a orb which then gives a "shadow" to Daniel, the shadow is a unseen force and also has killed all the people Daniel has in contact with in order to kill Daniel and protect the orb.To get rid of the shadow, he goes to find another person to help him.
This person name is Alexander. Alexander is the baron of Brennenburg and believes in magic and has been depicted to have lived for centuries. Daniel mets up with Alexander to get rid of the shadow by following Alexander through the huge castle you're currently in, and the place he wants you to go is called the "Inner Sanctum". While traveling with Alexander, he makes you do tasks that you find out about later on in the game. But after doing all these tasks Daniel is then abandoned by Alexander and realizes what he has done was wrong. Remorseful and full of hate, Daniel swears revenge on Alexander for his lying ways and drinks something that gives him amnesia only to remember his name, Hence the title.
Now to the gameplay. The makers of this game are the makes of the "Penumbra" series so the engine is similar to that of what Penumbra uses. In this game there are only four things important, hiding from these creatures called "Gathers" which are also Alexander's servants, finding clues, your health, and your Sanity. You can't fight in this game at all, all you have to do is hide.
Your sanity drains when you witness strange events (I.E: wind blowing), when you look at the Gathers for long periods of time, or you stay in the dark for too long. There're modes to your sanity also, there's "Normal", "Slight headache", "Head is pounding and hands are shaking", and "…". Once you get at head is pounding you'll start to have visual and audio hallucinations, and the only way to regain sanity is either complete a task or stay in the light for awhile.
Now that I've done explaining it, has anyone ever played it or watched it? I've only watched a full Lets play of it and I'm too much of a shaking pussy to play it myself. Honestly I would recommend this game if you're into shit scaring the balls off of you. If you have played it, how'd you like?
