@Gliblord:
Not letting the thread die due to genuine curiosity:
If "nakama" isn't a super special awesome word, then how on earth did K-F get it into their heads that it was?
dythm already said at some point that the entire point of leaving the word untranslated was that they had difficulty wording the "Nami! Omae wa Ore No Nakama Da!" Scene at the end of Arlong Park.
For some reason, they thought "Nami! You are my Friend!" sounded awkward. So they went for the lazy "If you can't think of a good way to word it in English, leave it in Japanese!" Ideology. But then also felt "Well, now that we've done it once, we kinda have to KEEP using it in Japanese or else it WILL look like we were lazy with that one line…"
dythm himself said at one point that he feared the word would take on a false life and end up being overused.
BOY was he right.

arghh! that's why i feel that something is missing when i watch it a day ago.. i really know that there is an Family ending somewhere at alabasta arc.. it's because i watch the funimation episodes instead the k-f subs..
I'm not quite sure what you're saying here, but the fact that you say you "Love" K-F in the part I quoted below, I assume you're saying that something feels like it's "Missing" from the FUNi version that isn't in the K-F Version. Well, that's because K-F made that thing for their DVD version of the episode. Before that, it only ever appeared on the TV Version of the episode. When Toei put it on DVD in Japan, they felt it wasn't an actual part of the episode, but a televised extra, so they didn't include it on their DVD release.
K-F had to make their own version of it from older DVD clips. It was BASED on what was originally aired on TV, but was not the same clip because a DVD version of that clip does not exist.
So, according to the Japanese company who makes One Piece, it's not "Missing" from there, because they didn't include it on DVD. Since FUNimation's DVDs are based on masters provided by Toei, which are probably the same as used on Toei's DVDs, we're getting the exact same as Japan.

OT: i just love k-f, who knows what will i be watching now if not for them? their subs open my world to one piece.. maybe im still a naruto or bleach fan right now.. they deserve their credit =).
As said LONG before, earlier in the thread, love of someone or something does not make it/them immune to criticism.
K-F created a humongous, ridiculously widespread misconception in the fanbase by telling them "Nakama" was a super special magic word. They also translated "Gomu Gomu no Kane (Bell)" as "Gomu Gomu no Iron Headbutt".
Viz Lies to their readers by telling them the thing on Bon Kurei's back says "Oh Come My Way" instead of "Crossdresser Way". They also changed Enel's title from "God" to "Kami". (He calls himself "Goddo Eneru" in the Japanese version, That's "God" in English, not "Kami").
FUNimation had Mihawk say "I'm Hawkeye Mihawk" instead of "I'm Dracule Mihawk". They also translated Smoker's line at the end of Alabasta as "Zoro Killed Daz Bones" despite Daz surviving their fight.
Regardless of your love for any one (or multiples) of them, they ALL make mistakes and are ALL subject to criticism. To claim anything else is absurd and asinine.
Now, can we stop bumping this thread and let it DIE?
