The Funimation Channel

Ok, I don't really know were to put this thread so I'm just gonna stick it here and the Mods can move it werever they want if need be

So recently discovered that Funimation has a channel on TV and they put some of their Animes on it. Most of them dont meet might tastes, except for Soul Eater, and I was wondering..why don't they put One Piece on that channel? It seems like a perfect fit and I really want to get OP on TV..Is there a certain reason I am missing as to why OP cant be on this channel or is it just something there not doing. There DVDs are selling like crazy so why not put it on?

It's up to Toei to decide where One Piece airs on TV and Funimation's channel just doesn't cut it for them.

It could be because as somebody mention before that Funimation Channel doesn't get as many viewers. It would be nice if One Piece was on TV but I think that Funi and Toei are both aiming for channels where One Piece could get the most viewers that it can in order to promote the DVDs.

This channel is worth it for Soul Eater, Ouran Host Club and others. I don't know how they decide what anime goes on this channel though. Advertising must be a factor, so I imagine One Piece will go here when showing a bunch of it's episodes will actually promote DVD sales.

Their run of "Case Closed" sucks though. It was even more limited in content then the Adult Swim run.

No, it's been said a bunch of times that Toei Animation has the TV rights and FUNimation collaborates with them.

What wouldn't be better promotion for the DVDs then have it air on the Funimation Channel? It might not be an extremely viewed channel but its better than nothing, whats stopping Toei from letting One Piece air on the channel?????

Because it won't make it sell much more than it does now. People who watch the Funimation Channel watch it because they already love japanese anime. People who watch Dragonball Z Kai on Nicktoons don't watch it just because it's a japanese animation, but because it's there and available for a LOT of people who are not into it. Putting One Piece on the Funimation Channel won't change anything. It has to air on a popular network where everyone can see it. I doubt Toei would want One Piece to air to a limited audience.

It's Toei Animation anime in general. Even with "Dragonball Kai" the T.V. licensing and stuff was a collaboration beween Toei Animation and FUNimation.

like others have stated, its up to Toei. and they want a a channel that get's a lot of traffic: and what im getting at is Cartoon network, and well…... yeah, the truth is the boss there does not want it, from what i hear, or any anime in general. although i still wonder why pokemon still linger's around that channel.

I'm guessing some kind of long term contract before the new guy (the current boss) came along.

But what do Toei have to lose by letting Funiamtion air One Piece on their channel?
As far as I know it wont cost them anything and it can only help sales of One Piece.

Putting it on the FUNi channel won't change a thing. That channel is SO limited. So why even go through the hassle of putting it on there when the end result would be the same if it wasn't.

One Piece is not some obscure 12 episode anime. It's freak'n One Piece. One of the biggest shows and manga in Japan. The companies involved do not want to waste it's potential in some nothing-tv channel.

They actually play some episodes of "One Piece" on FUNimation's on-demand, but they've never actually played all the episodes from the beginning there. If it ends up on FUNimation Channel it'll be because they gave up on pitching and no channel took it. Hopefully the fact that it's still not on the linear channel means they're still trying.

I think they gave up on CN. If anything they're looking at Disney XD or Nicktoons Network

Becuase it would end up just like naruto shippuden and not be shown much. plus toei wants a basic cable like CN to air one piece not a network hardly anyone has like nicktoons or disney XD. the quistion should be why isent Disney playing naruto shippuden and Nicktoons not playing DBZ Kai on there main channels respectfully instead of airing them on there channels almost no one has?

Disney? Hell, no. They'll edit the shit out of it.
Nicktoons, from what we've seen with DBZ Kai, doesn't do a lot of editing.

Sure Toei Animation wants "One Piece" on a basic cable channel, but the fact that they're letting Nicktoons and Toonzai air "DBZ Kai" means they'll air "One Piece" wherever they can, regardless of availability. Well, it's not on the FUNimation Channel, but hey it could happen, it's already on their on-demand. And the reason they're airing those shows on channels less people get is probably Disney Channel and Nickelodeon didn't want them. Different channels under the same umbrella are run by different people and serve different purposes.

"Naruto Shippuden" gets away with a TV-PG on Disney XD, that's pretty good for "One Piece". "DBZ Kai" is pretty good for Nicktoons but they still take a show that's already an edited version of an older show and edit it more down to Y7.
