Quams Of Wireless
@Kairouseki:
So, I got my computer up and running but the wireless card is having trouble. When I download something from the internet it only goes 10-15 KB/s (if that) but if I download with Steam it goes ~500 KB/s and boosts the internet download speed a bit. I updated the drivers for it. Anyone know the problem?
It's a Linksys Wireless G network card.
Kairouseki. Is this a laptop or a desktop? I am assuming Laptop because a Linksys Wireless G Card is for laptops.
Your laptop does not have built-in wireless? I am assuming your connecting to a wireless router in your home? Is it also Linksys?
You might need to make some changes to the routers setting for your Wireless Card. You might want to consider turning off the routers SPI Firewall and make sure all the proper ports are forwarded.
You should also go to www.speedtest.net and let me know what your download and upload speeds are. We can iron everything out from there if you are seriously interested in getting this resolved.
@SMUDGER:
Question: I've been saving for a new pc recently and need some advice. These are the specs, what do you think. And more importantly how do you find the i5 in terms of speed? (as you have the i5)
Intel i5 760 Quad Core
NVIDIA GTS 450 1GBB Video
4GB DDR3 1333MHz Memory
1TB SATA-II Hard Drive
Gigabyte P55 USB3MB
Thermaltake Element-T Case 24X
Double DVD±R/±RW HIGH DEFINITION 7.1 AUDIO
£629 (£535 ex. VAT)
Looks like a nice decent machine although I will tell you the i7 is better and anything before that in the i series really doesn't stand par with i7.
Fire-Fist asked the correct question, the machine build is good depending on what its intended use is.
