From TVGuide.ca:
…Entertainment Weekly reported yesterday that NBC has hired Fuller to helm and write a remake of the popular series, which is being described as “Modern Family meets True Blood.” Additionally, the publication reports that creepster director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy) is in talks to take on a behind-the-scenes role.
Few details are known at this point other than that NBC has only ordered a pilot for consideration. Fuller has a development deal with the Peacock that, in Sept. 2009, was rumoured to be for two years. At the time, he and Bryan Singer teamed up to develop a one-hour comedy pilot called SelleVision that went nowhere, while Fuller reportedly had another pilot on the go then, too.
So far, there is no casting news for the upcoming Munsters reboot, although one snarky TV site suggested Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy) head up the role of Herman.
The original 1960s series revolved around a blue-collared American family who happened to be comprised of legendary movie monsters. It ran for 70 episodes and spawned several made-for-TV movies.
...The series was strong for two years until Batman premiered in colour, at which time The Munsters’ ratings plummeted and the series was cancelled. It was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best TV Show in 1965, but lost out to The Rogues.
I was 100% HELL NO on this idea (ANOTHER Remake? "Modern Family meets True Blood"??), until I saw the names Fuller, del Toro, and Perlman in the story. Now…I'm actually kinda curious as to what these three would produce.
For those of us who've never heard of The Munsters, a few clips:

And before anyone goes 'Addams Family Ripoffs!!', both shows were actually on at the same time; The Munsters were CBS, Addams Family was ABC.
What say you, APForums? Yay, or HELL NAY.
