The side scrolling Mario games ARE challenging. And if they're not and I just suck at them, oh fucking well, doesn't change shit now does it, dear Zka?
No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise

Nintendo games come in a variety of different forms and genres, you only addressed the Mario games.
And honestly, I don't see the appeal in watching someone else play through an entire video game :/ -
And honestly, I don't see the appeal in watching someone else play through an entire video game :/
Except if we're talking about Heavy Rain and MGS 4
-
That's strange cause other people like myself had no problem doing that.
K
Just went through Darkstorm's list, and was gonna post the list with about 80% having the words "don't care" next to it, but doing so would make me seem like a douche who is being unusually hard on a system that just simply doesn't have many games he cares for.
So yeah, in an attempt to not make me seem that way, tho this won't stop the fanboys, I just… don't care for most of the Wii's catalog. I knew this when I bought it. I bought the system for No More Heroes and Unlimited Adventure, and I never been able to find UA cause it went rare and expensive. But I had hoped more games fitting my interests would come out.
Now, that's not to say everything on Darkstorm's list I wasn't interested in, cause that isn't true. There's still a couple games I wanna play on the system, but isn't a priority.
Course I have. Super Mario Bros. was my first game really. But they're just not my type of games. I find the Mario games to be un-needlessly difficult, and as for the Galaxy games and other first-party titles, any interest I had in them have been killed cause of the video game stream (Backloggery Live) I watch every week has seen them all played through from start to finish (the 2 streamers behind it are huge Nintendo fans).
@BHK3: You're ridiculous if you're dumping a game just for something stupid and minor like that. So by your logic, every game involving guns has to be like Uncharted and Gears of War? Resident Evil has never been a run-and-gunner. And I gotta tell ya, if I was trying to shoot something, I sure as hell wouldn't be running around like an idiot. I'd stand still and actually try and hit my target without wasting 100 bullets. You move BETWEEN shooting.
I put my gun up and become immobile. I put my knife up and become immobile. I do not like this, so I don't like the game.

Mario
Difficult
AH HA HA HA HA!!!!! YOU'RE WORSE THAN A CASUAL!!!!
Dude, a lot of the Mario games are pretty difficult.
Especially the older ones and Galaxy.
-
Galaxy isn't difficult
Except for that freaking Luigi falling squares planet
FDOSKDOSKDAOSKDSAOKDASDK -
This isn't an argument, the later levels (and some of the secret ones) are difficult.
The easiest part about Galaxy was the boss fights.
-
I'm not arguing with you, I'm outright telling you they weren't
I'l be the first to admit I suck at platformers (and most other type of games, for that matter), but the levels of Galaxy were really easy
And the last boss fight was a disappointmentSpeaking of which, I should buy Galaxy 2 as soon as possible
-
I still haven't beat that final boss level in Mario Galaxy 2, the one where you must finish it in a certain amount of time.
Which means I haven't gotten to experience the green star levels, which must be fantastic  -
I gave up on the green stars when I realized that the levels were just the ones I already played just with 3 green stars lying around you have to collect. I think my current total of stars are somewhere in the 140s or so.
I wonder how the sales will be for No More Heroes:paradise since everyone who was interested in the game most likely bought it for the wii.
-
New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Galaxy 2 definitely showed an increase of difficulty, but as long as you aren't rather new to platformers they should still be easily managable.
It's certainly no Contra or anything. -

As I suspected, they're gonna just pick select NMH2 bosses to put in the game. I'd rather have an HD port of Desperate Struggle.
-
I imagined myself bashing my brains on nail driven a desk when I read that Super Mario Galaxy(any game) was difficult. I don't mean any offense, but did you guys grow up playing anything at all? The only things challenging about the Galaxy games were Stone Cyclone(the best stage in the game for me, since it takes advantage of all the jumping mechanics), Rolling Balls, and Melty Molten Daredevil comet.
I dunno. Maybe I played too much games in the genre. NNSMB was challenging however, mainly because you had to be adjusted to a variety of stage gimmicks. It was still fun though. I could imagine it being easy as hell for vets in the Mario series.
-
I found NSMBW much easier than Mario Galaxy 2 though.
Maybe I'm just more accustomed to the 2-D games.
-

Gamers nowadays are yellow-bellied kids with skin as weak as wet toilet paper I say, Dun' know how to appreciate the X-Y plane on its own, flappin' 'round like a headless chicken in 2D.
But yeah, NSMBWii has a fair challenge, but it wasn't mind-numbingly difficult. I'd do stupid shit on purpose just to see how the "Super Guide" worked though.
-
Okay uh… could we get off the off-topicness? <<
-
Ah, sorry X_x I didn't realize the discussion was almost a week old.
Anyway, never played No more Heroes. I may download them if I have nothing to do.
-
Download? eyes slowly slant What are you implying?
-
Homebrew .
-
While No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise has only been announced for PlayStation 3 in the West, Konami is toying with Kinect and the idea of bringing a controller-less version of the game overseas.
So we might see the 360 version later.
-
Lol, i bought this game for the wii and sold it. I just bought a ps3 and here it is rearing it's head again, begging me to buy it.
-
-
Homebrew .
The first one's about ten to fifteen bucks in some places, and the second doesn't cost all that much either. Just buy them.
-
Go die in a fire.
This, seriously.
At least support smaller studios that are dying away right now, despite being one of the last groups trying something unique in times where mainstream games are mostly as innovative and exciting as bleak pabulum.
(Kinda paradoxical saying something like that on forums that are discussing illegal scanlations, but still….)
-
Got alot of books to buy to this year, so games in general are out of the budget(unless it's an arcade game from smaller devs). It's either I download, borrow, or stall till mid next year. Sides, I doubt companies make much money from used games that has been already out for quite some time.
-

Even piracy has standards.
Besides, at least if I pirate something like One Piece every week, I do actually support the official release by buying DVDs and the manga.
There's no excuse for outright stealing though.
-
Looks like it releases this May. This is gonna be a busy summer…

Japan is getting yet ANOTHER version of No More Heroes 1 HD. No More Heroes: Red Zone. This time it'll be exclusively on the PS3 and have Move support and many of the other features the US version is apparently getting. Also it'll no longer be censored, and will instead be slapped with a Cero-Z rating. It seems to be the updated version of Hereos' Paradise we're getting… but with 2 more features we haven't heard about.
They are 10 bonus missions that were omitted from NMH1 Wii, and a "Forbidden Zone Viewer" that will allow you to freely control the camera to look through Travis' apartment and... at the No More Heroes girls which have been stripped of their clothing with only their arms to cover themselves. Bonus?
Also, what NMH2 bosses will be included have been announced. For the most part it's on the money... but some dumbass decided to include Kimmy Howell in place of Margaret. Hope the US has all these features, we STILL don't have a solid release date.
-
Dammit, guys! Stop leaving me here in my lonesome having to keep posting after myself. ;_;
Preview vid of Red Zone:
-
The bike bowling made me laugh.
-
Ha! Beat me to the trailer! I hope those features come over to the English version of the game…
-
They most likely will, this seems likely to simply be a Japanese port of what we're getting. The US version keeps getting pushed back further and further (tho Konami never announced a date), so I say that's a good sign.
-
The classic intro video updated.
New screenshots: http://www.andriasang.com/e/galleries/2011/05/14/nmh_red_zone_screens_high_res/Also, yes, it's been confirmed that all the features in Japanese Red Zone edition we're getting in Heroes' Paradise in the US. Red Zone is merely a localization of our version of Heroes' Paradise.
-
That sounds cool… Do you have a link of that info? It's just to be 100% sure about it...

Additionally, the producer of the game has since stated that Red Zone is the Japanese release of the English Heroes' Paradise and that there's no differences between the two. Also, looks like you European's and Australian's only gotta wait a few more days! While we gotta wait till August, you guys are getting it May 20th! I'd be jealous, but I'm broke right now so it's good for me that we gotta wait 3 more months. But man, I wonder what's up with that?
-
The reviewers now have their copies here, but it doesn't look like it's worth buying if you already have the wii version, so I guess I'll give it a miss.

To be fair, the main attractions are just simply the add-ons and HD.

Yeah, this was meant for NMH fans such as myself who love the game and for people who never played the Wii version.

Well if it was meant for NMH fans I'd expect at the least some new rankers or somesuch.
But since Grasshopper aren't involved, they probably wouldn't have been any good anyway.
-
What are you talking about? We got lots of additions.
- HD graphics
- Trophies
- NMH2 Bosses
- Character Viewer
- 10 new missions
- Several new mini-games
I say we got more in this than we did the countless Resident Evil 4 ports which people ate up because they loved the game.
-
so close to buying this today, I am a fan of the no more heroes on wii and the ps3 version was tempting but I bourght LA Noir instead, and atm I am playing the witcher 2 (best game of the year FTW) and exams are around the corner so I dont have much time to play. I encourage everyone who didnt play the wii version to play the ps3 as lit looks liek the definite version of the game

I wouldn't define that as "lots", nor would I count being better then the RE4 ports a particular accomplishment. I couldn't care less about trophies, a viewer or fighting bosses I've already fought. New missions is the only thing that may be of interest. But since none of the reviews have mentioned them specifically, who knows.
-
The missions were never anything to write home about in NMH. Go to this place, kill people. Done. But c'mon, lookit the new side-jobs!
- Kitty Racing
- Sign spinning at a restaurant
- Flag Signaling
- Human Bowling, HUMAN BOWLING!
-
Kitty racing?
I'm in.

It is amazing, truly one of the most original and magical gaming experiences I've had. My only regret is I won't have a Move for this, because mashing the attack button and then finishing the guy off by swinging your arm is truly part of the experience. But from a review I read it may be best off not using move, reason being movie is TOO percise.
On the Wii version to recharge your Beam Katana you would have to suggestively shake the wiimote up and down repeatedly, and it worked well because the wiimote wasn't super percise. However, because of the percision of the Move controller, you have to have almost robotic positioning of shaking the thing up and down to get it to work well.
This is no good, as you need to recharge your beam katana often, especially against bosses. I'm gonna stick with the Dualshock 3. Fine by me as it saves me money and that I've caused immense harm to my body when I played NMH1 and 2 on the Wii. Let's say I got TOO engrossed. Wii-Arm hurts…

Demo's up on the European PSN.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
... I'm in utter despair. This is AWFUL with a DualShock 3... this... this isn't No More Heroes... you gotta have Move for this to work, and that's only if the Move mirrors the Wii controls exactly, which I'm not sure it does. As for the graphics, it actually doesn't look much better than it did on the Wii... except for one thing.
Screen-tearing.
My God, it's everywhere, even by simply rotating the camera. I've never seen screen-tearing this bad. My... heart is breaking...
-
This might be a stupid question, but what do you mean by screen-tearing?
