I FINALLY got to play the damn thing myself today. About time this store got the demo set up. Anyway, my assessment on it so far:
For a launch game, Sports Champions is not that bad. The demo version has the table tennis and the disc golf. The response is really accurate on the motion controller, it knows which way you're angling it, which is crucial in most of these games. Before you start a game, you have to "calibrate" yourself with the controller, it sounds complicated, but once you've done it, its really easy, unless you are 10 years old.
Once you've done that, you're ready to go, and for people who are new to this, there are training sessions on the games. This was especially handy when I was showing some 9 year old kids how to play. As long as you're standing exactly like the character shown, you'll get better results. Of course, this is hard to communicate to young children, so I just let them go at it.
I like how it actually responds to how hard or soft you move the controller. Like in the disc golf game, its pretty much like a frisbee game, so it was really easy to get the movement down. As for the tennis game, it was a little harder for the young ones, but otherwise, pretty simple.
The one thing that seems complicated though is having to re-sync yourself, people don't seem to understand the concept of standing in the middle of the white square and following the directions on how to sync up the controller. It was especially difficult trying to get the kids to do it, so I wound up demonstrating for them each time.
It did make sales go way more smoothly today, got a lot of people interested in it, and wound up having a good day =3 Hopefully tomorrow will be just as fun.
