I just watch Hellboy cartoon on Toonmi the movie and it was awesome my favorite fight was Hellboy vs a Kappa and the Thunder and Lighting battle too and i like the part where Thunder call Hellboy a ugly monkey demon XD
Hellboy Cartoon on Toonmi
-
-
Sword of Storms was made for Starz, so I'm kind of surprised that it aired on Cartoon Network first. Nice to see that they didn't bother to edit it at all.
A few favorite lines:
"Oh, crap."
"Oh, crap."
"Oh, wow."
"Come and get me, ya dumbass!"This really, really needs to be made into a series.
-
What a great movie. It had so much Yokai in it from Kappas to Rokurokubi (the women with with stetchy necks).
I look foward with the second movie that will be out next year. -
Yeah, a Hellboy series would be badass. I thought the movie was excellent, and I've always loved Hellboy's reactions to things that would make normal people puke their pants. His oh crap lines are great. XD
-
Hellboy in japan? What the hell is this crap.
I keep hearing the Hellboy comic is great, but faggotry like this and the movie make me afraid to check it out.
-
I only managed to check out the last twenty minutes of it. It seemed pretty interesting but the animation was iffy. I was suprised to hear Hellboy say,"Hey dumbass! You wanna fight me? 'Cause now I'm pissed off." on Toonami.
@Carter: The Hellboy comics are amazing. While the first few issues are "Ehā¦" (Due to the writing) the following tales are friggin' awesome.
My personal favorite has to be "The Corpse".
-
@Cap'n:

Hellboy is an amazing series, the first volume is a little funky because a different writer handled the dialogue but the volumes after that were completely written by Mignola.
I wasn't able to see the cartoon, but it sounds like it was somewhat faithful to the comics.
-
I love the comics and I thought this movie was pretty fun. Parts of it seemed kind of clunky and the animation quality fluctuated a bit (but considering what their budget probably was, that's hardly surprising). I did laugh in a number of spots and I really enjoyed the voice work for the most part. I'm looking forward to seeing the next few movies when they work more of the bugs out of things.
And yeah, HB in Japan isn't farfetched at all, considering they go pretty much anywhere there's a paranormal disturbance they feel is worth checking out. According to Tad Stones, the director, they chose Japan primarily because the second movie was originally going to be set there and had done a lot of research into the folklore and culture but then decided to go in another direction, and because Mignola only touched briefly on Japanese lore in the comics and he'd always wanted to do more. So they went with Japan for this movie.

Toonami is showing the Hellboy cartoon movie again at 9:30 today for anyone who wants to see it again
-
I watched it, I thought it was pretty good. My favorite part was "GAH I was breathing your BURPS!?"
The generic animation was kind of ugly, though. I worked for the more unusual characters but most of the normal humans look bleh.
-
I don't care for Hellboy. The comic doesn't interest me, and the movie was okay, but I am loving this. Hellboy has the best one liners here.
-
Well I actually watched it and I actually kind of enjoyed it. I think I'm going to look into the comics now.
-
I enjoyed as well too, mostly because I saw the live-action movie (which kicks ass). There's supposedly another animated Hellboy movie being worked on as we speak.
It's amazing what CN let's slide these days, I heard "damns" "craps" and all that stuff.
-
I loved it, HellBoy has such an awesome personality and the writing was great! I have never read the comics but are his legs suppose to be like that?
-
I can't remember for sure, but I think in the comics he has regular legs except that he has hooves for feet. If I remember right, in the cartoon his legs looked more animal-like. But I'm tired so don't quote me on that. ^^
-
It amuses me that this movie and the One Piece dub can air on the same block of programming.
-
Not anymoreā¦. :P
-
So, yeah, there's no question that Toonami really isn't how it used to be anymore. CN simply isn't playing much attention to it at all, so for all we know, it could be dwindling.
But the block has been a great ride, giving us many fan favorite shows and movies.
This music/montage thing made from the fan site "X-Bridge" best describes the age of Toonami, since it contains all the changes and all the shows the block has aired:
In any case, what do you think should happen to this once mighty block? And what year do you think it truly thrived?
-
Maybe it will be this 11th year anniversary, I hope :x
I honestly choose the design of That Tom.
I'm not sure what age that was in though, so here's a clip of him starting up one of the many cool intros during it.

^ Best Toonami promo EVER.Back when Dragon Ball Z had it's first run through. I remember I didn't start watching it until around the Cell Saga started airing. Then after the Cell Saga I was itching for new episodes. Then this showed up:
I got f'ing chills from that commercial.
Now Toonami is all NARUDO NARUDO NARUDO. They don't even bother advertising anime anymore. And the little clips they show in between commercial are seasons behind. One Piece still has Arabasta showing for crying out loud.
-
Manā¦Toonami really needs to come back on weekdays. I mean two Naruto's, One Piece, and old DBZ reruns...
What kills it now is how short it is, and even if it was longer, they need, you know, some better anime. I never really got into the newer stuff they showed, like Bobobo or Prince of Tennis or Mar or whatever.
We need some balance between good cartoons and anime, like when they used to show Justice League and Samurai Jack alongside some anime. I still can't believe they showed stuff like Tenchi and Gundam Wing, though, even if they were edited. Nowadays those shows would automatically go to Adult Swim.
-
This was my favorite ageā¦ I used to get chills when I saw this commercial!
5VefKtyZs2w&feature=relatedā¦.its so cheesy with the "Trunks!" flashing every now and then... otherwise, its pretty darn cool!
Also, back when I would come home from school and watch Sailor Moon, DBZ, Gundam Wing, Tenchi Muyo and Batman Beyond... oh those were the good ol' Toonami days for me! And especially when they had the Midnight Run and showed Gundam Wing and DBZ uncut!
-
Oh man, I forgot this one.
OUTLAW FUCKING STAR
-
Toonami used to be my favorite time of the day, but now it's just some Saturday night block that contains One Piece to me. It's pretty sad really.
-
This was so fucking awsome.
FRercuwUQwI -
I think it thrived during the DragonBall ZXSailor Moon period but Gundam Wing,Outlaw Star,Tenchi Muyo,Megas XLR also helped compliment the
block as well. These promos kicked ass back in the day

BIG O BIG O BIG
Oh yeah, and Reboot.
-
I've forgotten how much I fucking love The Big O.
But yeah, probably anything involving Big O, as I don't think they ever had a lineup I liked all the way through.
-
Oh gosh. Big O, Tenchi, Megas
those were the days.
But you all seem to be forgettingā¦

Ahh, this brings back memories.
-
I remember Yuyu Hakasho + Kenshin was amazing. Gundam Wing and DBZ was around that time too.
I also remember loving Ronin Warriors and Zoids.
-
The DBZ, Kenshin, G-Gundam and YYH age was my fave.
-
-
that G Gundam one was FUCKING Incredible and yeah anything Big O is Golden

That's the one I was gonna post. D:

I'm not going to lieā¦ I loved Rave Master an SD Gundam as well. <3
Only people who appreciated true quality could enjoy those series :)
That's the one I was gonna post. D:

find some more to add to our collection of lifeforms
-
Yeah, that G Gundam was was amazing. I loved that show too. I basically ate Gundam up.
EXCEPT SD GUNDAM. WTF.
-
I really liked Yu Yu ALOT better on Adult Swim and was actually a little pissed to see it tuned down and put on Toonami.
But still, the era of the first Tom was the best IMO.
-
Tenchi, Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, my top three Toonami animes from back in the day.
My favorite ages were the 2000 age, and the 2003 age.
-
I actually only got to watch Cartoon Network when I went with my parents on vacations and we stayed at hotels that had the channel (most of the anime I saw when I was young was from low quality VHS fansubs and stuff). So I can't really remember all the different variations of Toonami, and they all seem to blur together for me.
EXCEPT SD GUNDAM. WTF.
What about Doozy Bots?
-
G Gundam was the only Gundam series I could sit through. Man that commercial was awesome.
Thought it was kinda crazy when they used to show fanart and at one point said something along the lines of, "only stuff that's reached the US, sorry Trunks fans".
-
G Gundam and SD Gundam were the only ones I liked. Funny that SD Gundam during it's first run never went to reruns. I pretty much love all of Toonami until about 2005. Man do they know how to make commercials!

Anyone remember those little storylines they had? The one where the Absolution was invaded by that red blob and it devoured TOM's first body? I remember I was so freaked out after watching it when I was little. Or the one where they get stuck in space? I don't remember the scenario very clearly but that one wasn't as good. The third explained why TOM's body and the Absolution changed again but it was only on the old Toonami site and was removed after a while along with the TOM origin story. I never got to read the whole thingā¦
-
Sigh
the very LAST of the great Tonnami promos was a Naruto one. Then they just ended. :'(

THUMP "Here THUMP it is.." THUMP
I quit after that.
Naruto's voice is so annoying. I'm glad I at least focus on subs in the Japanese version.
-
I forgot this even existed
Eyur9uc8DXE
that last lineā¦
omg :0
-
I actually liked that show.
-
They never even finished the runā¦
I think they did like one arc, then it was put on some early morning slot to rot. Assholes.
-
@Lobster:

That ran like a few episodes and then they started airing it on that crazy early morning time slot of death like they did with Yu Yu Hakusho.
