@Wind_Falcon:
I saw this "end" theory here which I myself like very much (alto there are some wrong parts now, this is old):
I think that in the True History (Void history), there were indeed pirates that had tried to take over a kingdom. The kingdom tried to defend themselves using an ancient weapon (pluton, poseidon, ect). However, the pirates also had ancient weapons, and managed to take over the kingdom. The pirates, then used the ancient weapon to seperate the ocean around that land, making it unreachable. This causing the land to split apart, and creating the 4 blues (north, south, west, and east), the red line, and the grand line. The name of the pirates were called the world government pirates (marines), that's why they have their own (pirate) flag. The ancient kingdom recorded all the events into what are known today as poneglyphs, but the only one to record the great war between them and the world government, along with the events that happened during that time was the rio poneglyph.
Hundreds of years later, Roger had indeed found the Rio Poneglyph at the end of the Grand Line. Upon reading the rio poneglyph, he found out that he himself, along with the people with "D" in their names were "Desendents" of the ancient kingdom. The survivors of the great war put "D" in their names to remind everyone that they will one day "Dethrone" the world government pirates hence, the "Will of D". Knowing the True History, he intended to "Dethrone" the World Government, but he knew himself was not nearly strong enough to go against the world. He then sacrificed himself to the marines/World Government, and told everyone of 'One Piece'. He made it sound like a great treasure, hoping to get the rest of the world involved, and this started what is known as "The Great Age of Pirates". Roger hopes that by doing this, one day a strong group of pirates will reach Raftel, find the True History, and fulfill the "Will of D" by "Dethroning" the World Government.
At the end of "One Piece", I think that of course, the Straw Hat pirates will reach Raftel and read the Rio Poneglyph (Robin's dream). Knowing the True History, Luffy intends to carry out the "Will of D", and starts a revolution. Soon there will be a huge battle between the Straw Hats(and whoever decides to join them), and the World Government(With the rest of the Shichibukai, Admirals, Gorosei etc.) In the end, the Straw Hats should emerge victorious, and fire Pluton(Or another ancient weapon). After firing the weapon, the world shakes, and somehow the Red Line forms together with the islands, creating one whole piece of land, also called ''One Piece'' (Luffy's dream). Also, with the 4 blues formed together, instead of being named, North, East, South, West, it will simply be called, ''All Blue'' (Sanji's dream). And the person who unites the world will be known as "The Pirate King".
Thank you–
Very good theory, although there are some things I disagree with.
I don't know about you, but it seems sort of dickish for Gold Roger to just be all like "Yeah, find my treasure, it's great, have an adventu-FUCK YOU, IT'S A PONEGLYPH, GO FIGHT THE GOVERNMENT. It makes sense, but it really goes against the free-spirited adventure of the manga for the One Piece to just be a lie. While Gold Roger probably did want to pass the truth along, there must be something more to gain than just that. Additionally, Whitebeard confirmed that the treasure does indeed exist, so it's highly unlikely that Luffy would get there only to not find an actual treasure. Instead, let me expand on that theory of yours.
Gold Roger did indeed have a treasure, and he hid it on Raftel. We know from Crocus that the only crew ever documented to have successfully sailed to Raftel was Roger's crew. Also, apparently there's some specific method needed to get to Raftel, that only Roger and his crew knows. But, also, the Rio Poneglyph was on Raftel, therefore, it can be gathered that someone long ago, from the Void Century, also knew how to get there. And nobody, save for Roger, has been there since.
So here's my theory. Roger spent a great deal of his life collecting information about the true history, on what the ancient kingdom was, how the World Government came into power, and, most importantly, about the ancient weapons. Using the poneglyphs he and his crew came across, he was able to find a decent amount of artifacts, including one of the weapons. If the Government was somehow able to get a hold of any of that, the consequences would be disastrous, and it all would be forever lost, so he sought out a way to protect it. And so, he managed to find a way to Raftel, to find the final piece of the great puzzle. However, when he and his men arrived, they found more than just the Rio Poneglyph. They also discovered the final hideout of the last remaining members of the ancient kingdom, who had spent their last days on the island, keeping their kingdom alive for a bit longer, to leave evidence that they weren't simply a country of conquerors who had only weapons, that they also knew peace and freedom. Gold Roger found this, and promptly decided to end his voyage right there. He knew his life was coming to a close, and he wouldn't be able to lead the charge against the Government with the time he had left, so instead he opted to see Rouge one last time, and then turn himself in. Thus, he left every artifact he had collected on Raftel, for someone else to find. And before he died, he challenged the world, knowing that a successor would come and carry out his dream, so the legend wouldn't die. "You want my treasure? You can have it! I left everything I gathered together in one place! Now, you just have to find it!" He found the true history, and all the answers, but simply knowing was not going to change anything. All he could leave was merely One Piece of an ideal world, where dreamers could live free.
