i don't want to be harsh but i can't see the use of this topic. you don't ask any question nor do you put a real subject. do you want us to talk about ff9 or did you just want to tell us that you like it?
should i create one each time i start a game, too?
btw, ff9 bothered me a little, even if it's 10 times better than ff8 imo.
-
I looooove FF9. It has the most beautiful environments I've ever seen in a video game (Cleyra…siiiigh...). I really need to get around to replaying that again...
-
FF9 is my favorite Final Fantasy; the only onew I loved enough to play through all the way. Quina rocks.
As for the card game… it was cooler than FF8's, it had the uglop cards!
-
And for good reason! Words cannot describe how much I love FF9.
-
I love FFIX, it's one of my favorites. Everything about it rules.
The card game was fun, and I enjoyed it, but after getting owned by those Card Masters or whatever in Crystal World I stopped trying the cards.
I liked it more than VIII's card game, but I was MUCH better at VIII. IX doesn't have character and boss cards like VIII did, does it? The best minigame was FFX's Blitzball though.

I like this game, still haven't beat it yet but maybe that's because I'm at level 15

**I'm afraid to play the card game..I could get stuck playing for another hour straight 0_0 I always get like this with this kinda stuff in video games. The Digimon Cards in that game for Playstation Digimon World. Chip trader machines in Megaman Battle Network.

While I don't view IX as being the best FF game (that's VI), it is almost certainly far better than VIII. I had alot more fun with it than I did with VIII. I felt the characters were developed better, the battle system was better and it's always good to see the Job System come back. Oh and I loved fighting the final boss. It took me about half an hour to beat him when I first fought him.

I think FF8 was really depressing! The main character was like "Uh, i'm so angry gonna lash out at everyone around me even though they're gonna be nice" and the battle system was so hard to get to grips with! The bosses were so easy, all you need to do is use GFs…Goes off rambling how bad FF8 was
-
FF8 was a fun game, even thought Squall was a dick. And the plot was going pretty well until "WHOA IT TURNS OUT THAT WE'RE ALL FROM THE SAME ORPHANAGE AND WE CONVENIENTLY FORGOT." It isn't as good as FFIV, VI, or IX (in my opinion), but it was still a pretty good ride.
I liked the GF system too, and Junction, though annoying, can be really useful when you get the hang of it. Plsu, it has a WONDERFUL soundtrack (as do most FFs), and Laguna is an awesome character. Too bad him and his crew weren't permanent characters.
-
Meh, I didn't like it. -_-
I'd be playing FF9 all the time now, if it was up to me. My PS2 fudged up, now it won't play PS1 discs.
-
Feh, damn disc read error.
-
That's the one. It gets to the old Playstation symbol and freezes.

I found the battle system very easy, especally junctioning. You could make a super powerful team with little effert. And I agree with you about the bosses. GF + Boost = 95% of the bosses killed without a problem, the only acception being Adel (sp?) as it would hurt Rinoa and Ulticima because she could kill the GFs before you use them (or so I heard. I never bothered with it because of that). And speaking of that boss, I defeated most of the forms with only Squall and Zell. I wanted a team of Squall, Zell and Rinoa but started off with Selphine instead of Rinoa. I let her die while Squall and Zell did the damage, got Quistis, let her die and got Irvine. He died just as I finished off the first form and had to do the second form with just Squall and Zell, which I did with no problem. Then she bansied Irvine during the third form and I took down the third and foruth forms with my ideal three characters and had little problem with it.
Oh and Squall annoyed the hell out of me. Laguna would have been a far better main character IMO.
Anyway to bring the thread back on topic, I liked how IX had alot of nods to the earlier FF games, especally with the revival of the class system. I also liked how they spaced out the characters, though I wish they'd allow you ot get Amarant near the start as I felt he was a strong and useful character. Oh and they didn't need Eiko. 90% of her exclusive White Mage spells were pointless IMO. The way I view it, I started off with Dagger and made her strong so why do I need anyone else? Eiko should have maybe been a Red Mage.
-
I use Eiko because of her Madeen and Fenrir summons. Plus, it never hurts to have Phoenix to automatically revive you when your whole team kicks it!
My usual team is Steiner, Zidane, Garnet and Freya.
-
Well I never really bothered with or needed them.
Normally Zidane, Freya, Dagger and Amarant were my characters though at times I used Steiner, Vivi and Quina (I actually took the time to get some Blue Magic for… It, and it paid off well).
-
Oddly, I never used Amarant much. I got to a point where he was totally useless so I ditched him. Now he's level 32 while everyone else is above 60, 80 in Zidane's case.
-
Yay FF9, I really liked that for an FF which was surprising for initially I thought the characters looked a bit…disneyish you know...not very conventional. HOWEVER I came to appreciate this game for it was incredibly fun, the music was brilliant, and the setting was awesome. I would have to say FF9 was one of my favorite ones. (Story was awesome as well). FF8 was decent, the loved the setting for it however the gameplay was a bit awkward. Though I would have to say I really like FF7 also (the storyline got me).

Well he's a Monk, my favoruite class. Plus I read on one review/guide that he was a good character and worth using despite the fact he came in late. Based on this I decided to give him a chance and it paid off.
-
I liked to use Quina, Amarant, Steiner, and Vivi. Sometimes I'd sub someone for Zidane.

Same here; nothing like using a maxed out Dragon Crest and Shock one right after the other. That's pretty much how I killed Ozma… well, that and Ark's animation sequence. That sequence alone makes Auto-Regen worth the time spent on it.
Zidane is almost useless in the Ozma fight sadly, unless you go to all the trouble of hunting the various Earth Spirits.
-
I like FF9, it's very unique, the art style was great. I went thourgh playing this game and it was entertining, it was fun just like OP. Zidane, Eiko, Striner, Armarent, Dagger, Quina and Freya rocks.
-
Final Fantasy IX is the greates game of all time. It has a great storyline, great characters, plot twists, awsome music and one of the best endings I have ever seen. I've beaten the game about five times from begining to end. But I could never get into any of the card games in any of the games.
-
Word, man! I like your style!
-
FF IX will forever be in my mind as best game if have ever played- an inch above FF VII. Great animations, great story, a LIKABLE main character, awesome score, you know the drill. I've played it through 4 times, and im gonna start again soon.
Zidane is almost useless in the Ozma fight sadly, unless you go to all the trouble of hunting the various Earth Spirits.
The what now? Do tell, I also have the "useless Zidane syndrome" in my Ozma battle.
-
the music rocks…...as well as the game ^ ^
i love all FF -
Curiousity beckons me here, and I ask, has anyone here attempted/succeeded at getting Excalibur II? I haven't played the game in awhile, but I remember the last time I did that is what I was going for. .. But then Star Ocean 2 and Chrono Trigger sucked me away like they do with every other RPG I play.
-
Final Fantasy IX is an excellent game. One of my favs of the FF series.. to be honest, I thought Kuja was a girl by the way he dressed when I played the game for the 1st time… Like Valiantt said, it's fun and the music is good. I don't know about you guys, but I say the best games in the FF series would from 7 to 10....

Actually Final Fantasy was a great game, and Final Fantasy II wasn't too bad either. And I always knew that Kuja was a guy.

Actually I got everything in the game, and without a strategy fuid or a walkthrough, that is one of the things I am most proud of.

Gah, don't even mention Excalibur 2. It took me 100 HOURS at least to get to that point, never mind 12.

Don't ask me how I got half the stuff in the game (Some of the summons, Excalibur II, all that good stuff) because I don't even know.
