I'm just saying, they messed up outside of filler having to do with annoying little brats or goats.

Toei gave Shanks a new arm recently, it's pretty clear they fuck up on stuff they don't take from the panels. Even just expanding that scene turned into Shanks being Namekian. I do however give them mad props for G8 being done well and most non-blatant-padding expanded scenes turn out well.
that wasn't Shanks's arm it was Lucky Roo's penis. :ninja:

This just won the awkward post award for this thread.

So so episode.
But the Garp scene with Ace was powerful as fuck.
The Luffy entrance at the end was amazing too.
Oh and WB owning the Giant was fan-fucking-tastic.
-
Garp's face in reaction to Luffy's entrance was my favorite part. His scene with Ace was a nice one. And Doflamingo's speech was fine imo. Could have used some nice music, but still came across just as well. My main complaints are "KKKGKGKKGK" and Oars taking too long to "die".
-
Garps scene with Ace was really cool I was happy with that, don't think there was ever enough interaction seen between those two for me.
And yes. WB wrecking a Giant is one of the best things i've ever seen in one piece, upon showing it to my room mate he said. I now want to start watching that show.
-
We know they're capable of doing good filler scenes (last episode's giant squad fights) so a few seconds with Jonathan couldn't be that hard to make. They're just lazy or don't care…
To be fair, Oda kinda did the same thing in the manga with T-Bone: he showed him at the Marineford summon, but didn't show him fighting once throughout.
It's just a shame that Jonathan's a particularly memorable character, whereas T-Bone wasn't. You think Jon could've at least played Mr. Exposition to Akainu's devil fruit powers, behavior, etc.

That is why Oda is unsurpassed. I just had to join to converse on how badass One Piece is right now.
Doflamingo's speech to me was the highlight of the episode. Why I love One Piece so much is because there is no true evil or good. There are good and bad pirates as well as good and bad marines. Other series have full-blown villains and full-blown heroes. Doflamingo is right, there is no such as thing as what is good and bad, it is the person on top that decides that. Pure genius in my book.

@Lace:
I actually, like, enjoyed this episode a lot more than the others, especially all the stuff with Coby, Helmeppo, Akainu, and Donflamingo. I really liked all the backstory stuff with Ace and Garp. And the end was good. But I REALLY hate the way they have Ace acting. I mean, he did yell and and scream and look scared a lot in the manga, but he was NEVER this big of a crybaby, my word!
He just saw 1 of his dear friends get taken down in such a ruthless manner, just how do think someone should react in that situation? Just be a cold-hearted bastard like Mihawk or Kuma? He is a human being, he has a heart…it hurt him greatly to see Oars sacrificing himself for him...something he didn't want.

Well, It's true, but he did show up somewhere during the war looking shocked… but I still hope T-Bone will get some screentime again sometime. He may have not been that big, memorable character, but simple math tells me: zombieface+kindness+knight= Idea that shouldn't be forgotten.
Jonathan is the best filler character in my opinion, I felt he was canon, the design, personality, everything. And why not explain that whole thing with him and Akainu? Never understood how those two can be friends, Jonathan wouldn't chessfist anybody.
Oh, and I hope Ace won't make those stupid voices every damn episode, it's getting old and annoying. Come on Sengoku, kick him and tell him to shut up.
Where is the goat? Someone ate it or something? -
So are the government trying a new execution scheme by having stuffed shit down Ace's throat and predicting that he'll finally choke to death by the execution time?

Where is the goat? Someone ate it or something?! Pwngoat & WHitebeard will face off in an epic battle towards the end of the war.

Actualy I think T-Bone was shown once in the background or so .
Stil kinda sad he had no panel time .

Yeah, I know, I just hope it will be drawn as good as possible. He's my favourite character.
! Pwngoat & WHitebeard will face off in an epic battle towards the end of the war.
! You're wrong, so as everyone. It's pretty clear that the goat is Sengoku, and that guy with the birdcap is his maid.
! But seriously, that goat is a little bit too famous here. Well I love goat-milk but still… -
Aw man, they totally took the epic-factor of Doflamingo's speech. And the beginning was just annoying:
-GGGKkkkkkkhhhkkkhhh
-Ace-kun
-GGGKkkkkkkhhhkkkhhh
-Ace-kun
-GGGKkkkkkkhhhkkkhhhThe rest was alright. The animation wasn't bad but there weren't any outstanding scenes like last episode when Boa fought everyone. Oh, and Is it just me or does it seem like there are too view people fighting? I mean it's a war and there was a shitload of marines in the beginning when they all prepared themselves. Plus, in the manga it seemed like there were way more people in a tighter space. All in all the weakest episode since the war started.
-
This really was a bad episode. Few things "saved" it, and one of them isn't Doflaming speech. It didn't felt epic.
But I just know that I laughed at Garp reaction in the end. And they used last opening again, meh. -
I guess Ace making weird sounds was a little annoying, but it didn't bother me too much-I have seen worse. DBZ
Expect to see more of those sounds, even if Luffy already arrived and starts to make a mess. Some people were complaining how there wasn't a lot of action, well that is exactly how it happened in the manga. I think the anime is following the manga really well.
-
So like is it the same kkkgggkkk or a different one each time? That's what I want to know.
-
What I thought of when I saw the end scene :P
Hooray looks like youtube has fixed the Audio now - Superman Luffy to the rescue :D

Well, considering that Ace's voice actor also played Piccolo, I guess he's used to it.
-
Oh my God. The episode was regular but the END MADE IT PLAIN EPIC.

Not sure if the video is loading for anyone has not for me - is there a way to do it I used the youtube wrapping
Link since I can't embed videos :(And now youtube has borked the sound on it >.<
You just use the last few letters after the "=" sign (the part I highlighted and bolded in your YT URL)–minus anything weird there may be (hard to explain without an example, this one doesn't have anything extra. If I'm confused I usually just experiment until I get it right by using "go advanced," tweaking, and then hitting "preview changes" as many times as necessary--lol)

Awh man, the animators must really hate Doflamingo. They're ruining all of his scenes and making them crap, and on top of it all they can't even draw him right. T_T
And why are his sunglasses blue/purple and not orange like they're meant to be? Damn it all. -
Whitebeard layed the smackdown O.O
When I saw that in motion, I was like, "Dang… Whitebeard don't play around!"
-
Emo Garp saved this episode for me. It was really hard to watch him cry, trying to hold himself together next to Ace.
-
Garps face when he realize it is Luffy who is falling from the sky = priceless.
-
the part with the Oars and ace at the beginning was soooo boring,
love the donflamingo part (and the scene with the glasses in zoom)
(and that flashback with garp..cute..but also boring)
the akainu part was awesome (love the lava/magma in the anime)
the final part with luffy was ok -
akainu is soo sick, but yh the flashback with Garp Luffy and Ace was funny when they were eating…
-
Next episode needs to cover two chapters or a lot of filler, or there will be serious drag issues.
-
why would that be?
-
Chapter 557 wasn't exactly bursting at the seams with content.
-
i see. well, knowing toei, it'll probably be the latter…..
